Geometric, aerodynamic, and kinematic characteristics of two twin keel parawings during deployment
Flight test data on geometric, aerodynamic, and kinematic characteristics of two twin keel parawings during deploymen
Feasibility study for a numerical aerodynamic simulation facility. Volume 3: FMP language specification/user manual
The manual is intended to show the revisions and additions to the current STAR FORTRAN. The changes are made to incorporate an FMP (Flow Model Processor) for use in the Numerical Aerodynamic Simulation Facility (NASF) for the purpose of simulating fluid flow over three-dimensional bodies in wind tunnel environments and in free space. The FORTRAN programming language for the STAR-100 computer contains both CDC and unique STAR extensions to the standard FORTRAN. Several of the STAR FORTRAN extensions to standard FOR-TRAN allow the FORTRAN user to exploit the vector processing capabilities of the STAR computer. In STAR FORTRAN, vectors can be expressed with an explicit notation, functions are provided that return vector results, and special call statements enable access to any machine instruction
New waterboatmen records for Western Canada (Hemiptera: Corixidae)
Trichocorixa verticalis (Fieber) is reported for the first time from the mainland of British Columbia and the subspecific assignment is discussed. Based on specimens in the Spencer Entomological Museum, one provincial record and one territorial record are added to the recent checklist of Canadian Hemiptera
New Aquatic Beetle Records for Canada (Coleoptera: Haliplidae, Dytiscidae)
Three species of aquatic beetle, Peltodytes simplex (LeConte) (Haliplidae), Agabus oblongulus Fall (Dytiscidae) (both from southern British Columbia) and Ilybius oblitus Sharp (Dytiscidae) (from southern Ontario) are confirmed as members of the Canadian fauna based on specimens deposited in the Spencer Entomological Museum at the University of British Columbia
Laboratory measurements of polar stratospheric cloud rate parameters
It is now clear that heterogeneous reactions play an important role in controlling the concentration of ozone in the stratosphere. In this work, the loss of N2O5 on ice substrates has been studied in a flow reactor in an attempt to gain a more fundamental understanding of these reactions. The apparent reaction probability in this system was found to decrease as the substrate was exposed to N2O5. A model which corrected for the loss of surface sites was developed and although it appears to fit the data for a given experiment quite well, it is concluded that the loss of reactive sites is not the full explanation. In addition, the results of an experimental and modeling study suggest that reaction on the internal surface of the ice substrates is not a major loss mechanism for N2O5 in the current work

Dosimetry using environmental and biological materials. Final report
Although theoretical models have been the traditional tool for assessment of doses delivered by nuclear accidents, their use is now accompanied by increasing political and scientific demand for physical measurements which provide site specific dose information related directly to the original events, can be used to verify and augment the theoretical models, and can be performed and reflicated by independent laboratories. This report details a four year effort to improve the sensitivity and reliability of retrospective methods, to collaborate with laboratories engaged in related research, and to share the technology with startup laboratories seeking similar capabilities
