620-623 Content from Liver and Muscle Tissues of Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepede, 1800) in the Persian Gulf
Abstract Studies indicate that omega-3 fatty acids have positive effects on reducing heart diseases several such as myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmia, atherosclerosis thrombosis and hypertension. The omega-3 PUFA EPA and DHA are important throughout life and are a dietary necessity found predominantly in fish and fish-oil supplements. In this research, the liver and muscle tissues of Scomberomorus commerson from the Iranian Port of Bandar Abbas in March 2015 were separately extracted for their lipid content especially omega-3 fatty acids composition using the method of Blight & Dyer. The compounds were determined by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The components detected in the liver and muscle tissues, were Palmitic acid, Oleic acid, Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The result of this study show that the muscle and liver tissues of Scomberomorus commerson are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids EPA (18.12-21.63%) and DHA (17.37-19.12-%). Investigation of influence of size (total length) and sex on accumulation of Pb in liver and muscle tissues of Platycephalus indicus fish in Musa estuary (northwest of Persian Gulf)
This study was undertaken to determine the concentration of Pb in liver and muscle tissues of Platycephalus indicus fish collected from two creeks Jafari and Behad (Musa estuary, northwestern Persian Gulf) and was conducted to survey influence of total length and sex on accumulation of Pb in fish tissues during Agust 2010. Concentration of Pb in sediments was also measured. Total number of fish and sediment from each creek were respectively 30 and 9 samples. The samples were digested in laboratory according to MOOPAM 1999 instruction and lead concentration (in µg/g d.w.) was analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrophotometer (ICP-OES). Results of regression showed a negative correlation between concentrations of Pb in liver and total length that reason of this negative correlation can be lesser absorption rate than excretion rate as the fish grows. In term of lead concentration in liver no significant difference was found between male and female (P>0.05) that indicates sex has no effect on accumulation of Pb in liver. Significant difference between studied areas in concentration of Pb in liver and sediment (P<0.05) was observed. In comparison with international standards FAO ,WHO and ISQG the mean value of Pb in muscle and sediment was lesser
