The first homology of the group of equivariant diffeomorphisms and its application
Let V be a representation space of a finite group G. We determine the group
structure of the first homology of the equivariant diffeomorphism group of V.
Then we can apply it to the calculation of the first homology of the
corresponding automorphism groups of smooth orbifolds, compact Hausdorff
foliations, codimension one or two compact foliations and a locally free circle
action on the 3-sphere.Comment: 23page
<Reports on the Eighth Annual Meeting of the Tsukuba English Linguistic Society> Attitude Reports and Semantic Theories
We examined various semantic theories with respect to the treatment of attitude reports, such as believe, know, see/see that and hear/hear that. ..

The Usefulness of "Hybrid Unit" Goal-based Learning on Physical Education: Focusing on the practice of tag rugby, handball, and basketball in junior high schools
The purpose of this study was to address a motor learning program consisting of "hybrid units" and to clarify the usefulness of the learning sequence and arrangement by analyzing the common movement patterns among various athletic activities . Then, we conducted empirical lessons of two units: tag rugby-handball and handball-basketball. Results showed that " forming a line in a defense and "passing effectively in an attack" are common ways of moving. In addition, it was found that both defensive and offensive movements became progressively more complex and could be studied in a developmental sequence
Detection of quantitative trait loci controlling pre-harvest sprouting resistance by using backcrossed populations of japonica rice cultivars
Backcrossed inbred lines (BILs) and a set of reciprocal chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) derived from crosses between japonica rice cultivars Nipponbare and Koshihikari were used to detect quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for pre-harvest sprouting resistance. In the BILs, we detected one QTL on chromosome 3 and one QTL on chromosome 12. The QTL on the short arm of chromosome 3 accounted for 45.0% of the phenotypic variance and the Nipponbare allele of the QTL increased germination percentage by 21.3%. In the CSSLs, we detected seven QTLs, which were located on chromosomes 2, 3 (two), 5, 8 and 11 (two). All Nipponbare alleles of the QTLs were associated with an increased rate of germination. The major QTL for pre-harvest sprouting resistance on the short arm of chromosome 3 was localized to a 474-kbp region in the Nipponbare genome by the SSR markers RM14240 and RM14275 by using 11 substitution lines to replace the different short chromosome segments on chromosome 3. This QTL co-localized with the low-temperature germinability gene qLTG3-1. The level of germinability under low temperature strongly correlated with the level of pre-harvest sprouting resistance in the substitution lines. Sequence analyses revealed a novel functional allele of qLTG3-1 in Nipponbare and a loss-of-function allele in Koshihikari. The allelic difference in qLTG3-1 between Nipponbare and Koshihikari is likely to be associated with differences in both pre-harvest sprouting resistance and low-temperature germinability
Influence of Hepatectomy on Body Temperature Change in Rats
Abdominal surgery, especially liver resection and transplantation, increases body temperature during and after surgery, but the precise mechanism (s) underlying this effect are not well understood. The present study thus sought to investigate this phenomenon using an experimental rat model. Specific pathogen-free male Sprague-Dawley rats, 5 weeks of age, underwent a two-thirds partial hepatectomy (PH), one-third splenectomy, or left kidney resection, and then rectal temperature was measured for 5 consecutive days after surgery. Rectal temperature increased in PH rats to a peak on day 4, but no change in temperature was detected after splenectomy and kidney resection. In the second part of the study, we examined the influence of gadolinium chloride and interleukin-1β monoclonal antibody (IL-1β mAb) on the increase in rectal temperature following PH. Treatment of rats with 20mg/kg gadolinium chrolide or 200µg IL-1β mAb inhibited the PH-induced increase in rectal temperature and decrease in IL-1β and prostaglandin E2, which act as pyrogens to change the thermoregulatory set point in the hypothalamus. These results suggest that abdominal surgery, especially liver resection, caused an increase in endogenous pyrogen production that results in increased body temperature
Mental health problems and influencing factors in Japanese women 4 months after delivery
BACKGROUND: Postpartum mental health problems are a major public health issue; however, studies on the mental health status of mothers and its influencing factors between 8 weeks and 1 year postpartum are scarce. Furthermore, it would be necessary to examine the factors influencing mothers\u27 mental health in order to evaluate their physiological adaptations to the nursing environment.METHODS: We examined the mental health status of postpartum women and the factors influencing poor mental health at 4 months after delivery. A cross-sectional study of 584 postpartum women was conducted. Information on mental health status, delivery, and other factors was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Women were asked about their age, height, weight, gestational or marital status, whether they were eating regular meals, appetite, frequency of going out, financial difficulty, stressful life events, and history of depression. The Japanese version of the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) was used to identify potential poor mental health status. Participants with GHQ-12 scores of ?4 were classified as the high GHQ-12 score group (poor mental health status) and participants with GHQ-12 scores of ?3 were classified as the low GHQ-12 score group (good mental health status).RESULTS: Forty-five women (7.7%) were classified as having high GHQ-12 scores. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that older age, not eating meals regularly, and history of depression were significantly associated with poor mental health. Financial difficulty had a borderline association with poor mental health in this model.CONCLUSIONS: These risk factors might help practitioners identify women at high risk of poor mental health after delivery
