ExTouch: Spatially-aware embodied manipulation of actuated objects mediated by augmented reality

As domestic robots and smart appliances become increasingly common, they require a simple, universal interface to control their motion. Such an interface must support a simple selection of a connected device, highlight its capabilities and allow for an intuitive manipulation. We propose "exTouch", an embodied spatially-aware approach to touch and control devices through an augmented reality mediated mobile interface. The "exTouch" system extends the users touchscreen interactions into the real world by enabling spatial control over the actuated object. When users touch a device shown in live video on the screen, they can change its position and orientation through multi-touch gestures or by physically moving the screen in relation to the controlled object. We demonstrate that the system can be used for applications such as an omnidirectional vehicle, a drone, and moving furniture for reconfigurable room

Construction and Use Examples of Private Electronic Notary Service in Educational Institutions

People have many documents. For example, a variety of documents are prepared and used in public institutions. As the internet becomes widely available in recent years, paper documents are being replaced with electronic data, which are often distributed in the form of electronic data without being printed out. Similarly, in educational institutions, increasing number of documents are distributed in the form of electronic data. Such data are distributed through various routes and means, and prone to the risk of alteration in the process. Data may be protected against alteration, but it is difficult to completely prevent data alteration in the distribution process. Data can be generated with electronic signature that allows for the identification of data creator and possible alterations by third parties. This method is, however, not valid if the data becomes separated from the electronic signature, making the validation of data creator or data alterations difficult or impossible. In this paper, we describe the invention of a system that, even in cases where data is separated form the electronic signature, enables easy identification of possible data alterations by the electronic signature management. And we describe here an exploratory construction of private electronic notary service in university. We also add a review on the utilization method of private electronic notary service in universities

Improvement of lung function and pulmonary hypertension after pulmonary aneurysm repair: case series

    Get PDF
Pulmonary artery aneurysms (PAA) can be complicated with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), causing sudden death due to PA rupture and dissection. Because treatment with PAH-targeted drugs does not always prevent PAA progression, prophylactic surgical repair of the PAA seems a promising alternative. However, although it avoids rupture and dissection of the PAs, additional benefits have not been forthcoming. We therefore present two patients with co-existing PAH and a PAA who underwent surgical repair of the aneurysm. Following the surgery, their lung function and pulmonary hypertension improved. Optimal treatment of PAA remains uncertain, however, with no clear guidelines regarding the best therapeutic approach. This case series provides physicians with reasons to repair PAA surgically in patients with PAH

Second surface: multi-user spatial collaboration system based on augmented reality

An environment for creative collaboration is significant for enhancing human communication and expressive activities, and many researchers have explored different collaborative spatial interaction technologies. However, most of these systems require special equipment and cannot adapt to everyday environment. We introduce Second Surface, a novel multi-user Augmented reality system that fosters a real-time interaction for user-generated contents on top of the physical environment. This interaction takes place in the physical surroundings of everyday objects such as trees or houses. Our system allows users to place three dimensional drawings, texts, and photos relative to such objects and share this expression with any other person who uses the same software at the same spot. Second Surface explores a vision that integrates collaborative virtual spaces into the physical space. Our system can provide an alternate reality that generates a playful and natural interaction in an everyday setup
