    Assesment of electricity excess in an isolated hybrid energy system: A case study of a Dangiwada village in rural Nepal

    The increasing demand of power can be fulfilled through different architectures and electricity supply models by utilizing the available local resources. But most of the isolated energy system suffers from high energy cost and unreliable energy supply. This study identifies different electricity supply models to fulfill the dynamic demand of power in a remote area, which is analyzed in terms of cost of energy and causes for the high cost of energy. Among different factors, the presence of unusable energy (Electricity Excess) produced by the energy system during fulfillment of the demand is found to be major one cause for the high cost of energy. Further, the importance of energy storage system in isolated energy system is discussed. In this case, up to 83.4 % of electricity excess is observed, which can be utilized in different manners to reduce the total energy cost. Electricity excess profile for different energy model, their impacts and possible techniques of the solution with open views are discussed

    A Laboratory Epidemiological Outbreak Investigation of Kumri(Cerebrospinal nematodiasis)and use of diethylecarbamazin in treatment of Goat in Banke district of Mid-Western Region of Nepal

    Seasonal occurrence (mainly in October-November) of a disease syndrome locally called ‘Kumri’ meaning weak back was observed in goats in Banke and other districts of western Terai in the last few years. Traumatic injury to the lumbar region, nutritional deficiencies and parasitism in the spinal cord were the likely causes considered. Based on the epidemiological pattern viz; seasonal occurrence, clinical symptoms, afebrile condition and local nature of infection, and non response to supplementation of vitamins and minerals, the disease was provisionally diagnosed as cerebrospinal nematodiasis. This has been further substantiated through laboraotry of Seteria spp in cattle in this region, detection of microfilaria in affected goat and treatment response of affected goats with diethylcarbamazine. As adult seteria spp in cattle, Buffalo and microfileria from blood smears of affected goat confirmed the cerebrospinal nematodisease in goat in Nepal. [Veterinary World 2008; 1(6.000): 168-170

    A Laboratory outbreak investigation of Post-Monsoon Endemic Moist Eczematous Syndrome in cattle in Jhapa District of Nepal

    An endemic hyperemic moist eczematous syndrome was reported in Cattle and Buffaloes in Jhapa district of Nepal during month of September after prolong spell of drought followed by heavy rainfall causing water logging total 56 cattle and buffalo were affected and out of which 12 animal died. Rest of ill animals were treated with 5%of Antidegnala liquor and Penta-sulphate. Straw and Skin samples revealed Penicillium sp.Fungus.After long spell of drought period followed by repeated flooding in lowland area in tropical and subtropical there is likely increase risk of fungal infestation in forage fed to cattle buffaloes seems to be risky for occurence of Endemic Moist Eczamztous syndrome, either preventive measure for its prevention or early treatment with either with anti Degnala liquor or Use of pentasulphate seem to prevent loss from this condition.
