    Social capital and related factors in Western Iran students

    Abstract  Background & Aim: Social capital involves a set of norms available in social systems which improves the interaction between people and reduces the costs of interactions and communications. The purpose of this research was to Study of the social capital of the students of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences and its related factors, 2017. Material and Methods: The method of this study was descriptive survey method. The statistical community of this study included all students of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences  among whom 378 students were selected randomly as samples of the study. Delaviz questionnaire of social capital was employed for data collection and data analysis was performed using Spss software,  descriptive statistics(mean, standard deviation) and Inferential statistics (U-Mann Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis). Results: The means of social capital was 70.56±10/88. Minimum and maximum mean was measured for “participation in local community” and “group participation”. In this study, There were significant associations between social capital with gender, field of study and and marital status.(p<0/01). Conclusion: Social capital as the most important factor for people dealing with stressful situations known, and can facilitate problem tolerate for them. Social capital as an important factor, can help the health and life satisfaction of students

    Frequency of class attendance among university students and factors influencing it from the viewpoints of students in Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences

    Background & Aim: Considering the fact that the lack of attendance in the classroom has become one of the most common problems in universities of the country today, this study aimed to determine the effective factors on the attendance of students in the classroom from the perspective of students of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences in 2015. Materials & Methods: This study was descriptive-analytic. The data collection tool was a standard questionnaire for factors affecting attendance in the classroom from the students' point of view. The population included all students of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. 381 of them were selected by stratified random sampling. Collected data was analyzed by SPSS software version 20. Results: The average age of the samples was 21.22±2.16 years. 212 persons (55.6%) of the sample were female and the rest were male. Mean and standard deviation of the total score of the questionnaire of the reasons for attending the classroom from the student's point of view were 2.6±0.43, the area of the teacher was 2.02±0.51, the educational environment was 2.04±0.52, and the student's area was 2.12±0.61. Also, the results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between students' civil status (p≤0.01), gender (p≤0.01) and the average score (p≤0.01) with the attendance level in the classroom. Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that there was a direct correlation between students' demographic characteristics and the classroom attendance, the areas of professor, educational environment and students. Paying attention to these factors can encourage students to attend classes
