The U.S. Seed Industustustry: An Exploration of Statistics Highlighting the Economic Cctivity of the U.S. Row Crop Seed Industry
This report presents relevant statistics that highlight the economic activity of the U.S. seed industry. The focus of this report is on the four main U.S. crops: corn, soybean, wheat, and cotton. The report contains three sections. The first is related to the U.S. seed market’s size based on seed sales and expenditures. The second section examines industry investment in research and development (R&D) activity in terms of both budget and human resources. The final section illustrates the impact of the seed industry in terms of intellectual property development, improved productivity, and other benefits. This report focuses on using publicly available data to examine these three areas. In addition, the report presents the results of a survey conducted among American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) members that helped fill some gaps in publicly available information. The report ends with identification of deficiencies in the industry data that could be improved with more study and/or reporting from the industry.Seed industry, field crops, biotechnology, herbicide-tolerant crops, Bt crops, corn, soybeans, cotton, wheat.
A correlative study of musical aptitude and music appreciation as measured by the Seashore measures of musical talents and the Fisher measurements of musical appreciation
Thesis (Ed.M.)--Boston UniversityTo determine the degree of correlation between musical aptitude and music appreciation as measured by the Seashore Measures of Musical Talents and the Fisher Measurements of Musical Appreciation.
The Pearson Product-Moment "r" was found to be .31. This indication a negligible correlation. From this coefficient of correlation it was concluded the most students on the secondary level could benefit by a study of music appreciation of general music
SERVING PRODUCERS IN VOLATILE TIMES REPORT FROM THE 2008 LARGE COMMERCIAL PRODUCER SURVEY
Purdue University’s Center for Food and Agricultural Business undertook the 2008 Large Commercial Producer Survey with the goal of providing food and agribusiness firms with a clear depiction of the commercial producers—a group that purchases the majority of agricultural inputs. This survey summarizes the results of more than 2,500 farm operator interviews completed in January and February 2008. The center first conducted this survey in 1993 and collects new data every five years. This study offers a broad look at changes in farm businesses over time. In addition to demographic information, the questions specifically explore the goals, attitudes and buying behaviors of large commercial farming and ranching operations.commercial producers, buying behavior, attitudes, demographic, goals, large farms

Fraser of Allander Institute : Economic Commentary [March 2018]
As the financial year draws to a close, it is a good time to reflect on Scotland's economic performance over the past twelve months and perhaps more so, to consider the significant challenges that lie ahead. Little has changed since December's Fraser Economic Commentary on Scotland's economic performance; there is growth, but the pace is slow with little expectation it will accelerate at any significant rate over the coming three years. As has been well established, increasing productivity has been, and remains, one of Scotland's key economic challenges

Coupled Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov kinetic equations for a trapped Bose gas
Using the Kadanoff-Baym non-equilibrium Green's function formalism, we derive
the self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) collisionless kinetic
equations and the associated equation of motion for the condensate wavefunction
for a trapped Bose-condensed gas. Our work generalizes earlier work by Kane and
Kadanoff (KK) for a uniform Bose gas. We include the off-diagonal (anomalous)
pair correlations, and thus we have to introduce an off-diagonal distribution
function in addition to the normal (diagonal) distribution function. This
results in two coupled kinetic equations. If the off-diagonal distribution
function can be neglected as a higher-order contribution, we obtain the
semi-classical kinetic equation recently used by Zaremba, Griffin and Nikuni
(based on the simpler Popov approximation). We discuss the static local
equilibrium solution of our coupled HFB kinetic equations within the
semi-classical approximation. We also verify that a solution is the rigid
in-phase oscillation of the equilibrium condensate and non-condensate density
profiles, oscillating with the trap frequency.Comment: 25 page
