STUDENT OPINIONS ON THE EFFICIENCY OF SIMPLIFIED GERMAN AUDIOBOOKS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING PROCESSES

This study aims to show the effects of the audiobook forms of linguistically simplified literary works, a new media product, on foreign language learning processes from different perspectives since new media are taking place in current teaching theories and design of foreign language teaching. In the study, applied experimental research was carried out within the framework of linguistically simplified audiobooks. The research was designed with the participation of fifty-four students within the scope of the reading comprehension course. The aim is to clarify the advantages and disadvantages of audiobooks in foreign language acquisition and the development of foreign language skills. In addition to this, an answer is sought to the question of whether audiobooks are effective in enriching the course content, increasing reading motivation, and acquiring different strategies in language learning. Based on the research results for these questions, it was determined that the students abstained from them in the first survey because they did not have full knowledge of audiobooks. Therefore, more participants in the second survey compared to the first survey preferred audiobooks instead of printed books as additional material to improve their language skills, increase motivation for reading, and improve reading techniques and strategies. In addition, the multimedia feature of audiobooks helps to increase concentration during reading. Considering the participants' desire for alternative information transfer tools and the materials they use to appeal to many senses, it can be interpreted that their hesitations about new media products stem from ignorance. Based on the research results, it is thought that it would be beneficial to use audiobooks as auxiliary material in developing various language skills in learning a foreign language in the classroom reading comprehension lesson

Yeni medyalar bağlamında edebi eserlerin tarihsel dönüşümü: Yabancı dil öğrencilerinin bakışından Almanca basitleştirilmiş sesli kitaplar örneği

Günümüz yaşam biçimini oluşturan unsurların başında dijital yükselişle birlikte bilgiye anında erişim, iletişim, özgünlük ve güncelliğe yönelik artan ihtiyaçlar bulunmaktadır. Bahsi geçen günümüz toplumunda bilgisayarsız ve internetsiz bir yaşam tasavvur edilemediğinden, yeni medya araçlarının kullanımının bilgi transferinde sağladığı kolaylık da inkar edilemez bir hal almaktadır. Bu çalışma ile bulunduğumuz yüzyılda odak noktası haline gelmiş olan yeni medya kavramı ve bunun bir ürünü olan sesli kitabın yabancı dil edinimi üzerindeki etkilerini farklı açılardan göstermek amaçlanmıştır. Çünkü yeni medya güncel öğretim kuramlarında ve yabancı dil öğretiminin tasarımında güncel bir şekilde yer almaktadır. Ancak bu noktada önemli olan, hangi dil becerilerinin ne şekilde kazandırılabileceğine dikkat edilmesi gerektiğidir. Bu çalışma ile ortaya çıkan sorulara cevap bulmak, öğrencilerin medya kullanım becerilerine değinerek eksikliklerine odaklanmak amacıyla, dilsel olarak basitleştirilmiş sesli kitaplar çerçevesinde uygulamalı deneysel bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma, okuduğunu anlama dersi kapsamında 54 öğrencinin katılımıyla tasarlanmıştır. Hedef olarak yabancı dil edinimi ve yabancı dil becerilerinin gelişmesinde sesli kitapların avantaj ve dezavantajlarını açığa kavuşturmak seçilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra ders içeriğini zenginleştirme, motivasyon arttırma, dil öğrenmede farklı stratejiler edinme konusunda etken olup olmadığı sorusuna yanıt aranmaktadır. Bu sorulara yönelik gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın sonucuna dayanarak, öğrencilerin sesli kitaplar hakkında tam olarak bilgi sahibi olmadığı için onlara karşı ilk ankette çekimser yaklaştığı saptanmıştır. Bundan dolayı da, ilk ankete nazaran ikinci ankette daha fazla katılımcı dil becerilerini geliştirmek, okumaya yönelik motivasyonunu arttırmak ve okuma tekniklerini ve stratejilerini geliştirmek için ek materyal olarak basılı kitap yerine sesli kitabı tercih etmiştir. Ayrıca sesli kitapların çoklu medya özelliği okuma esnasındaki konsantrasyonu arttırmaya yardımcı olmaktadır. Katılımcıların alternatif bilgi aktarım araçlarına ve kullandıkları materyallerin birçok duyuya hitap etmesine yönelik arzusu dikkate alınacak olursa, yeni medya ürünlerine yönelik tereddütlerinin bilgisizlikten kaynaklandığı yorumu yapılabilir. Araştırmanın sonucuna dayanarak, sesli kitapların sınıf içerisinde okuduğunu anlama dersinde yabancı dil öğrenme sürecinde çeşitli dil becerilerin geliştirilmesi bağlamında yardımcı bir materyal olarak kullanılmasının faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir.Der digitale Aufstieg und das steigende Bedürfnis nach unverzüglicher Information, Kommunikation, Authentizität und Aktualität sind die Anforderungen des gegenwärtigen Lebensstils. Da ein Leben ohne Computer und Internet in der heutigen Gesellschaft nicht zu vorstellen ist, ist auch nicht zu leugnen, dass die Nutzung der Werkzeuge der neuen Medien zur Erleichterung des Informationstransfers führt. Mit dieser Magisterarbeit wurde intendiert, die Auswirkungen des heute im Fokus stehenden Begriffs Neue Medien und deren Produkt das Hörbuch auf Fremdsprachenerwerb aus unterschiedlichen Sichten aufzuzeigen. Denn die neuen Medien sind in den aktuellen Unterrichtstheorien und bei der Gestaltung des Fremdsprachenunterrichts präsent. Es gilt aber zu beachten, wie und welche Sprachkompetenzen zur Geltung gebracht werden können. Um sich auf die entstehenden Fragen mit der vorliegenden Arbeit zu nähern und die Realität der Mediennutzung und ihre Defizite zu beleuchten wurde eine empirische Forschung im Rahmen der sprachlich vereinfachten Hörbücher durchgeführt. Diese Untersuchung wurde im Zusammenhang eines Seminars für das Leseverstehen mit Teilnahme von 54 Studenten gestaltet. Die Studie hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Vor- und Nachteile vom Hörbuch im Fremdsprachenerwerb und zur Entwicklung der Fremdsprachenkompetenzen aufzuzeigen. Des Weiteren wird intendiert eine Antwort darauf zu finden, ob es ein Faktor den Unterricht zu bereichern, die Motivation zu steigern, Ermittlung von verschiedenen Didaktiken ist. Basierend auf die Befunde der aufgrund dieser Ziele durchgeführten Untersuchung wurde festgestellt, dass die Studenten mit dem Konzept des Hörbuchs nicht vertraut waren und daher im Prätest sich verzögernd zu dem Hörbuch äußerten. Dementsprechend bevorzugen mehrere Befragte im Nachtest ein Hörbuch gegenüber einem gedruckten Buch als ein Zusatzmaterial für die Entwicklung ihrer Sprachkompetenzen, für die Steigerung der Motivation fürs Lesen und für die Entwicklung ihrer Lesetechniken und- strategien. Außerdem sind die multimedialen Eigenschaften der Hörbücher hilfreich für die Verbesserung der Konzentration beim Lesen. Unter Berücksichtigung des Wunsches der Teilnehmer nach alternativen Medien und Anspruch auf mehrere Sinne der Materialien, lässt sich festhalten, dass die Zögerung gegenüber neuen Medienprodukte aufgrund Unkenntnis ist. Laut Ergebnisse der Studie sollte der Einsatz von Hörbüchern in den Unterricht für das Leseverstehen berücksichtigt und für die Entwicklung mehrere Kompetenzen im Fremdsprachenlernprozess angewendet werden. At the beginning of the elements that make up today's lifestyle are the increasing needs for instant access to information, communication, originality and actuality with the digital rise. Since a life without computers and the Internet cannot be imagined in today's society, the convenience provided by the use of new media in information transfer becomes undeniable. With this study, it is aimed to show the concept of new media, which has become the focal point in the current century, and to investigate the effects of audiobook, which is a product of it, on foreign language learning from different perspectives. Dijital / Dijitalleştirilmiş Edebi Metinlerin Yabancı Dil Bilgisinin Gelişimine Katkıları

Studierende von Fremdsprachen gehören zu einer Gruppe, die von digitalen Entwicklungen häufigprofitiert. Das Hauptziel dieser Studie ist zu zeigen, wie man die Einsatzmöglichkeiten der digitalen/digitalisierten literarischen Texte in der Fremdsprachendidaktik mithilfe der in dieser Studie angeführtenBeispiele konkreter erklären und behandeln kann. Ausgehend von den Forschungen zu diesem Themaist ein weiteres Ziel dieser Studie festzustellen, welchen Beitrag literarische Texte, die in den neuenMedienkanälen zu finden sind, den Studierenden beim Erlenen von Fremdsprachen leisten könnten. Umdies zu veranschaulichen, wurden sechs Websites nach der deskriptiven Methode untersucht und analysiert. Die behandelten Websites enthalten eine Mehrzahl von literarischen Texten, die im Prozess desUnterrichtens und Lernens von Sprachen eingesetzt werden können. Als Ergebnis dieses abgegrenztenUntersuchungsgebietes wurden fünf Hauptkategorien ermittelt, die in der Fremdsprachendidaktik nichtvernachlässigt werden sollten. Die festgestellten Kategorien sind: Förderung der Lesegewohnheit durchvielfältige Textsorten, Motivationssteigerung zum Lesen und zum Textverständnis durch Abbildungenin Texten, Beitrag zur allgemeinen Sprachentwicklung durch unterschiedliche Spiele, Überprüfbarkeitder Inhalte der gelesenen Texte, Unabhängigkeit von Zeit und Raum durch multimediale Eigenschaftender Webseiten.Yabancı dil öğrencileri dijital gelişimden sıklıkla yararlanan gruplardan biridir. Bu yüzden yeni medyalardaki ilerleme onlar açısından büyük öneme sahiptir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, dijital / dijitalleştirilmiş edebi metinlerin yabancı dil eğitimindeki kullanım imkânlarının çalışmada verilen örnekler ışığında nasıl daha somut bir şekilde açıklanabileceğini ve ele alınabileceğini göstermektir. Konu hakkında yapılan araştırmalara dayanarak, bu çalışmanın bir diğer amacı ise yabancı dil öğreniminde yeni medya ortamlarında bulunan edebi metinlerin kullanımının, öğrencilerin genel dil becerilerine nasıl katkıda bulunabileceği konusunda fikir üretmektir. Bu bağlamda yabancı dil öğrenim ve öğretim süreçlerinde kullanılabilecek sayısız edebi eserin bulunduğu web sitelerinden altısı örnek alınarak betimleyici inceleme metodu ışığında ele alınıp tanıtılmıştır. Bu sınırlandırılmış alan çalışması sonucunda, yabancı dil öğretiminde dijital metinlerin kullanımında göz ardı edilmemesi gereken 5 kategori tespit edilmiştir. Tanımlanan kategoriler şunlardır: çeşitli metin türleri aracılığıyla okuma alışkanlığının teşvik edilmesi, metinlerdeki resimlerle metni okuma ve anlama motivasyonunun arttırılması, çeşitli oyunlar aracılığıyla genel dil gelişimine katkı sağlama, okunan içeriğin test edilebilirliği, web sitelerinin çoklu medya özellikleri sayesinde zamandan ve mekândan bağımsız olarak kullanılabilmesi

Johann Wolfgang von Goethes Ballade Der Zauberlehrling (1797), in der dietitelgebende Figur an die Stelle des abwesenden Hexenmeisters tritt und so eineÜberschwemmung verursacht, handelt offenkundig vom Thema Grenzüberschreitung.Indes fällt auf, dass sich die Flutkatastrophe in der domestizierten Umgebung derMeister-Werkstatt ereignet und der Meister bei seiner Rückkunft die alte Ordnungsogleich wiederherstellt. Unter diesem Aspekt lässt sich der Text – umgekehrt – auchals eine Art Bewusstmachung dessen lesen, was Grenzen eigentlich bedeuten undwarum es wichtig ist, sie einzuhalten. Tatsächlich sind im Zauberlehrling Chaos undOrdnung wechselseitig bedingt. Man könnte auch sagen, dass die Grenzüberschreitungdes Protagonisten innerhalb der durch bestimmte Diskurse abgesteckten Grenzenerfolgt. Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung ist es, die diskursive Ordnung des Textessichtbar zu machen. Welche Diskurse treten auf? Wie wirken sie zusammen? Wassind ihre Funktionen? Und welche Dynamiken entfalten sie? Auf solche Fragen wirdim Nachfolgenden näher einzugehen sein.The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1797), in which a wizard’s apprentice supplants the master during his absence and thus causes a flood, is mainly about limit-exceeding. It’s noticeable that the flood occurs in the enclosed space of the wizard’s workshop, and the master is able to restore the former order right upon his return. The text can also be read as a cautionary tale of what limits essentially mean and why it is that important to adhere to them. Chaos and order are conditioned reciprocally in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. In some way, the protagonist’s exceeding of his limits happens within the frame of certain discourses. The aim of this study is to make the discursive structure of the text visible. Which discourses emerge? How do they work together? What are their functions? What dynamics do they develop? Bu açıdan bakıldığında metin, sınırların gerçekte ne anlama geldiği ve bunlara bağlı kalmanın neden önemli olduğunun bir tür farkındalığı olarak da okunabilir. Esasında, Sihirbazın Çırağı baladında, kaos ve düzen karşılıklı olarak birbirinin sonucu niteliğindedir. Nitekim ana kahramanın sınırları aşması, belirli söylemler çerçevesinde gerçekleştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, metnin söylemsel yapısını açıklığa kavuşturmaktır. “Hangi söylemler ortaya çıkıyor? Birlikte nasıl çalışırlar? İşlevleri nelerdir? Hangi dinamikleri geliştirirler?” gibi sorular çalışmada ele alınacaktır
