    A Novel Dual-Band MIMO Antenna with Lower Correlation Coefficient

    This paper demonstrates a novel dual-band operated MIMO antenna which consisted of planar monopole (main antenna) and 3D slot element (auxiliary antenna). The main antenna is printed on a 1.6 mm thick FR4 board, while the auxiliary antenna is fabricated with gold-coated copper. A lumped impedance network is applied to enhance matching effect at port1. From simulations by commercial software, it can be found that the proposed antenna is able to cover GSM800, GSM900 (lower band), and LTE/ WiMAX/WLAN (higher band) quite well. Good agreements between simulations and measurements are obtained. Corresponding measured results, antenna efficiency, peak gain, and radiation patterns, are presented at the same time. By equipping a passive decoupling element, the coupling power on the ground is radiated into free space, and great enhancement of isolation between antenna elements, especially for lower band, is achieved

    Research on a Pulmonary Nodule Segmentation Method Combining Fast Self-Adaptive FCM and Classification

    The key problem of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) of lung cancer is to segment pathologically changed tissues fast and accurately. As pulmonary nodules are potential manifestation of lung cancer, we propose a fast and self-adaptive pulmonary nodules segmentation method based on a combination of FCM clustering and classification learning. The enhanced spatial function considers contributions to fuzzy membership from both the grayscale similarity between central pixels and single neighboring pixels and the spatial similarity between central pixels and neighborhood and improves effectively the convergence rate and self-adaptivity of the algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve more accurate segmentation of vascular adhesion, pleural adhesion, and ground glass opacity (GGO) pulmonary nodules than other typical algorithms

    The Magnetic Properties of 1111-type Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor (La1−x_{1-x}Bax_{x})(Zn1−x_{1-x}Mnx_{x})AsO in the Low Doping Regime

    We investigated the magnetic properties of (La1−x_{1-x}Bax_{x})(Zn1−x_{1-x}Mnx_{x})AsO with xx varying from 0.005 to 0.05 at an external magnetic field of 1000 Oe. For doping levels of xx ≤\leq 0.01, the system remains paramagnetic down to the lowest measurable temperature of 2 K. Only when the doping level increases to xx = 0.02 does the ferromagnetic ordering appear. Our analysis indicates that antiferromagnetic exchange interactions dominate for xx ≤\leq 0.01, as shown by the negative Weiss temperature fitted from the magnetization data. The Weiss temperature becomes positive, i.e., ferromagnetic coupling starts to dominate, for xx ≥\geq 0.02. The Mn-Mn spin interaction parameter ∣\mid2J/kB2J/k_B∣\mid is estimated to be in the order of 10 K for both xx ≤\leq 0.01 (antiferromagnetic ordered state) and xx ≥\geq 0.02 (ferromagnetic ordered state). Our results unequivocally demonstrate the competition between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions in carrier-mediated ferromagnetic systems.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure

    Port Selection for Fluid Antenna Systems

    Fluid antenna system promises to obtain enormous diversity in the small space of a mobile device by switching the position of the radiating element to the most desirable position from a large number of prescribed locations of the given space. Previous researches have revealed the promising performance of fluid antenna systems if the position with the maximum received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is chosen. However, selecting the best position, referred to as port selection, requires a huge number of SNR observations from the ports and may prove to be infeasible. This letter tackles this problem by devising a number of fast port selection algorithms utilizing a combination of machine learning methods and analytical approximation when the system observes only a few ports. Simulation results illustrate that with only 10% of the ports observed, more than an order of magnitude reduction in the outage probability can be achieved. Even in the extreme cases where only one port is observed, considerable performance improvements are possible using the proposed algorithms
