La traduction dans un contexte 'plurilingue'

    Get PDF

Disseminated infection with Bartonella henselae in a drug-induced immunosuppressed adult causing fever, thrombocytopenia, and encephalitis: Case Report

Cat scratch disease (CSD) is caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae, typically characterized by self-limiting regional lymphadenopathy. CSD is more prevalent in immunocompromised individuals. However, serious illness is infrequent. This case report demonstrates uncommon symptoms of disseminated Bartonella henselae infection manifesting as encephalopathy, thrombocytopenia, and septic shock. A 62-year-old malnourished, Hispanic man presented with fever and malaise for 1 week which was associated with headache. Past medical history was significant for rheumatoid arthritis treated with prolonged, unmonitored prednisone, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and a history of 18 cats at home. On examination, the patient was alert and oriented, febrile, and cachectic, but no regional lymphadenopathy was appreciated. During the hospital course, the patient became more agitated and required intubation. Serological tests showed negative IgM but very high IgG titers of 1:1280 which is indicative of CSD. CSF analysis demonstrates pleocytosis with negative bacterial and fungal culture. The patient was treated with doxycycline for CSD and with voriconazole for concomitant scant growth of Aspergillus flavus on sputum culture. Subsequently, the patient improved with no residual neurological deficits. This case illustrates the importance of investigating Bartonella henselae infection despite the absence of regional lymphadenopathy in an immunosuppressed patient with a history of cat exposure presenting with persistent fever. Neurological symptoms are uncommon but can occur especially with immunosuppression. Moreover, obtaining a history of animal exposure prior to initiating immunosuppressive medications is pertinent

This deliverable is the first deliverable of WP4 of the Modus project which aims to develop highly detailed low-level results on the present and future of the mobility of passengers in Europe based on flight and passenger metrics. The purpose of this document is to describe the methodology designed and developed to translate the output results of the modal choice model into individual passenger itineraries that are going to be used by the mobility models. Additionally, it outline so-far identified data requirements and processing needs to create valid input for the rest of the models developed in Modus: flight-centred airside model RNEST, passenger-centric airside model Mercury, and the landside model (i.e. door-to-door model)

This study is devoted to Nador massif located in the steppe environment of Tiaret region in the west of Algeria. This massif is characterized by a diversity of flora composed of 121 taxa belonging to 38 families and 98 genera. Biological spectrum indicates a predominance of therophytes (38%) and chamaephytes (19%), geophytes (14%). The most important families are Poaceae and Asteraceae. Mediterranean element is relatively dominant (55%) according to chorologic plane. Shannon-Weaver e diversity index is relatively high (4.55) indicating a richly diverse site. Disturbance index (63.6%) reflects highly significant degree of massif vegetation disturbance, which also reflects a more open environment. To better understand the structure of vegetation using the classification is imperativ

Air-rail multimodal mobility has the potential to play a significant role in addressing European mobility challenges such as emissions reduction goals, and capacity shortages, and in moving towards a wider European multimodal transport network. There is still a need to better understand the potential role of rail when substituting current air links both from a strategic and a full, tactical mobility perspective, particularly when passenger connections are considered. Here we present the development of an innovative approach towards data driven, integrated air-rail modelling, considering passenger door-to-door itineraries

Introduction: Durum wheat bran is obtained from wheat milling, it’s considered as an excellent source of insoluble dietary fibre. Objective. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the effect of wheat bran (WB)  on glucose and lipid metabolism in normal and diabetic rats. Materials and Methods. Twenty-four female rats of "Wistar" were divided into four groups each containing six rats. The first group (NCR) was fed by a control diet while the second group (NCRE) was fed by the experimental diet based on durum wheat bran. For the third and fourth group after streptozotocin (STZ) injection, they were fed by a control diet (DCR) and experimental diet (DRE) respectively. The Blood Glucose (g/L) and weight (g) of these groups was measured at the end of each week for a period of four weeks, the serum lipid parameters in the fasting condition, such as TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C were evaluated at the end of the experience. Results. WB was high in dietary fibre (41%). The results show a significant decrease in blood glucose ( p<0.04)  and body weight ( p<0.05 ) in DRE group compared to DCR group  and non-diabetic groups. No significant difference was observed for cholesterol and triglyceride levels, a difference of p<0.05 for HDL-C was observed between the diabetic experimental diet group and the non-diabetic control diet group. For LDL-C, the difference was observed between the diabetic experimental group and the non-diabetic experimental group (p<0.001). Conclusion Our results indicated that WB exerting a glycemic and a serum lipid regulation effect in experimental diabetic rats
