Mean-Field Calculation Based on Proton-Neutron Mixed Energy Density Functionals
We have performed calculations based on the Skyrme energy density functional
(EDF) that includes arbitrary mixing between protons and neutrons. In this
framework, single-particle states are generalized as mixtures of proton and
neutron components. The model assumes that the Skyrme EDF is invariant under
the rotation in isospin space and the Coulomb force is the only source of the
isospin symmetry breaking. To control the isospin of the system, we employ the
isocranking method, which is analogous to the standard cranking approach used
for describing high-spin states. Here, we present results of the isocranking
calculations performed for the isobaric analog states in and
nuclei.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, talk given at the 2nd Conference on "Advances in

A case of left atrial myxoma accompanied by pancytopenia and pathological findings suggestive of pulmonary hypertension
A case of left atrial myxoma accompanied by peculiar
symptoms is reported. A 15-year old boy had progressive congestive heart failure and three episodes of acute attacks of panctyopenia. The anemia was accompanied by helmet-shaped, broken red blood cells, erythroid hyperplasia and elevation of indirect bilirubin. The
thrombocytopenia gave rise to hemorrhagic tendency of the skin and mucous membrane. The leukocytopenia was seen at the same time. The patient also had general constitutional disturbances showing generalized malaise, persistent fever, elevation of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, positive C-reactive protein, pulmonary infection and anginal attacks. Postmortem examinations revealed a left atrial myxoma and intricated pulmonary changes. There was obliterative endarteritis of the left coronary branch and pulmonary arteries. The interstitial pulmonary fibrosis was also prominent. The pancytopenia should have been induced by the mechanical damage of circulating blood cells
by the left atrial myxoma. The pathological findings of the lungs were highly suggestive of pulmonary hypertension, which was assumed to be due to mitral block caused by the atrial myxoma.</p
Measurement of nonlinear frequency shift coefficient in spin-torque oscillators based on MgO tunnel junctions
The nonlinear frequency shift coefficient, which represents the strength of
the transformation of amplitude fluctuations into phase fluctuations of an
oscillator, is measured for MgO-based spin-torque oscillators by analyzing the
current dependence of the power spectrum. We have observed that linewidth
against inverse normalized power plots show linear behavior below and above the
oscillation threshold as predicted by the analytical theories for spin-torque
oscillators. The magnitude of the coefficient is determined from the ratio of
the linear slopes. Small magnitude of the coefficient has been obtained for the
device exhibiting narrow linewidth at high bias current.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures; accepted for publication in Applied Physics
