To automate or not to automate: this is the question

New protocols and instrumentation significantly boost the outcome of structural biology, which has resulted in significant growth in the number of deposited Protein Data Bank structures. However, even an enormous increase of the productivity of a single step of the structure determination process may not significantly shorten the time between clone and deposition or publication. For example, in a medium size laboratory equipped with the LabDB and HKL-3000 systems, we show that automation of some (and integration of all) steps of the X-ray structure determination pathway is critical for laboratory productivity. Moreover, we show that the lag period after which the impact of a technology change is observed is longer than expected

Znacząco może to poprawić cały proces produkcyjny, zachęcić do współpracy pracowników wszystkich szczebli, oraz w szybki sposób informować kierownictwo o występujących problemach, co pozwoli na szybką reakcję i zdecydowanie efektywniejszą produkcję.The use of FMEA analysis on the example of a small company demonstrates that regardless of the size of orders the company can benefit from quality management tools. Can significantly improve the entire production process, to encourage the co-operation of employees at all levels, and to quickly inform management about any problems, which will allow for quick response and definitely more efficient production

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wybranego narzędzia zarządzania jakością w zakładzie zajmującym się wytwarzaniem cementu. Efektem analizy jest prezentacja diagramu Ishikawy, który ukazuje przyczyny powstawania wyrobu niespełniającego wymagania klientów, jak i również wymogów znormalizowanych.The aim of this article is to present the selected quality management tool in a cement manufacturing plant. The result of the analysis is the presentation of Ishikawa diagram, which has shown the cause why the product does not meet the requirements of customers as well as the normalized requirements

The OHS management system in the "small-sized" production company

In the article the problem with systemic management of safety in the smallest production entities has been shown. The effect of health and safety management system and the benefits resulting from it for the most numerous economic entities in Poland - micro-enterprises have been discussed. Moreover, the results of questionnaire examination conducted in several Polish production companies have been presented. Surveys were completed in companies in which the number of employees does not exceed 49 people (micro enterprise - from 1 to 9 employees and small enterprises - from 10 to 49 employees)

Use of a logical map in the production process

Logic maps are necessary in determining the current flow in the company. They show how decisions are made in the company and with which individuals they are directly related. The article presents the application of a logical process map in a production enterprise. Its purpose is to illustrate the decision making process in company X from the moment of receiving the order from the customer until the decision on the order is made
