    The Role of Marketing Research on the Performance of Business Organizations

    In recent years a market oriented corporate culture increasingly has been corseted a key element of superior corporate performance. Although organizational innovation is believed to be a potential mediator of this market orientation- corporate performance relationship, much of the evidence to date remain anecdotal or speculative. In this context the researcher takes a component wise approach and examines how three component of market research affects the two core components of organizational innovativeness enroot to affecting corporate performance. Using the data, the researchers empirically test and substantiate innovations mediating role in the market research performance relationship of an organization. The study was conducted in federal capital territory, Abuja, North-central Nigeria with the use questionnaire and interview to collect data that was statistically analyzed using statistical package for social science (SPSS). The result of the study showed that marketing research process plays a significant role in the performance of business organizations which means that there is a positive relationship between marketing research and the performance of business organizations. In view of this, we recommend that business organization should provide adequate fund on market research, provision of suitable and adequate facilities to enhance business environment and make it more responsive to the needs of customers and development strategies should be placed to enhance staff performance and increase their contribution to the organization.     Organization Conflict and Industrial Harmony: A Synthesis of Literature

    Conflict is a form of disagreement between individuals, groups or institutions. Conflict management refers to the long term management of intractable conflict. The objective of this study is to synthesis the relationship between conflict management and industrial harmony. This literature review offers a synthesis of the past and contemporary studies about conflict and types of conflict. Factors that influence the existence of such disagreements and change them into dysfunctional or functional conflicts were explored. Conflict school of thought includes; the human relations school of thought, the traditional school of thought, and international school of thought. Conflict is a cognizance issue, Conflict processes includes; Cognition and personification, potential opposition, intentions, behaviour and outcomes.  The study uses qualitative and descriptive design to deduce its conclusion. The review also identifies conflict sources, management and relationship between factors that trigger, promote or diminish organizational conflict. The study conclude that an understanding about the different types of conflict and the influence of its components on group productivity can allow the management and team leaders to decide how to pursue with conflict handling. It can also help them in making decision about mitigating the occurrence of negative conflict in future, while maximizing on the constructive potential of conflict and also that if conflict is well managed it can bring about industrial harmony and productivity.     Queuing Theory and Customer Satisfaction: A Review of Performance, Trends and Application in Banking Practice (A Study of First Bank Plc Gwagwalada, Abuja Branch)

    Queuing theory is the formal study of waiting in line and is an entire discipline in operations management. This article will give the reader a general background into queuing theory, its associated performance, and it relationship to customer satisfaction in banking sector. Queuing theory has been used in the past to assess such things as staff schedules, working environment, productivity, customer waiting time, and customer waiting environment. In banks, queuing theory in assessing a multitude of factors such as withdrawal and deposit, customers waiting time, customer time, and staffing level has been a major problem. The study uses regression analysis and model with the help of SPSS in analyzing the data collected through primary and secondary means. The study find out that most customers in banks are not satisfy base on the queue they experience before been attended to and it was base on this that the study recommended an effective and efficient application of queuing theory which can be of particular benefit in banks with high-volume out-customer workloads and/or those that provide multiple points of service. By better understanding queuing theory, service managers can make decisions that increase the satisfaction of all relevant groups-customers, employees, and management.     Comparison of the Effect of Training and Development on Employee’s Performance in Public and Private Sectors: A Case Study of Bank of Industry and United Bank for Africa

    The study compare the impact of training and development on employees performance in private and public sectors in Abuja using United Bank for Africa and Bank of Industry in Abuja. The study find out how training and development (on the job, off the job, study leaves and induction) enhances employees performance (employees attitude, employees quality of work and employees punctuality).The study covered a period of five years from 2011 to 2015. A Point in time data was collected from primary source. The population was 247 and 276 (Bank of Industry, Abuja and DBA, Abuja) and the sample size was determined using Taro Yanmmine formula. The sample was 152 and 163. Regression was adopted and findings reveal that there is a significant relationship between training and development and employees performance in Bank of Industry in Abuja and United Bank for A frica in Abuja. It is there fore recommended that Bank of Industry in Abuja should continue to embark on training and development since it contributes significantly to employees performance and United Bank for Africa in Abuja should repetitively train and develop workers since it contributes to employees performance.     The Relationship between Leadership Styles and Employees’ Performance in Organizations (A Study of Selected Business Organizations in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Nigeria)

    Every organization is set up with the expectations of effective and efficient performance, growth in terms of increase in productivity, revenue generation, profit maximization, customer’s satisfaction and increase employees’ performance. The extent to which this performance and growth objectives are achieved is mostly determined by the type of leadership style used in the organization which accounts for its efficiency and effectiveness. This study was carried out to look at the extent to which this trend has continued and specially, the relationship between leadership style and employee performance in an organization. This study was conducted in Federal Capital Territory Abuja with the use of questionnaire and interview to gather relevant data that was statistically analyzed using Correlation analysis with the help of SPSS , the findings shows that there is a significant relationship between leadership style and performance in an organization, This study has observed that leaders and leadership style in organizations have affected the ability of their organizations to achieve corporate goals and objectives. The study concluded and recommends that efficiency is a function of perceived reward. Good motivation is critical for achieving organizational objectives. Therefore, recognizing worker’s needs is an essential step to planning and motivational effort. Hence, every action taken by a leader stimulates a reaction in the employees. Therefore, the attainment of the objectives of most business organization would be borne out of the fact that leadership recognizes the needs of the workers, employ appropriate motivational tool such as promotion of staff based on merit and relevant skill. Also provision of suitable working environment and employ an appropriate leadership style that will encourage free flow of information among leaders and employees as this will lead to good organization and employee performance.
