High Field Magnetization in Manganese Intermetallic Compounds(Magnetism)

    Get PDF
Magnetization measurements were carried out on manganese intermetallic compounds Mn_3MC(M=Ga, Zn), Mn_Co_xSb(x=0.09 and 0.15) and MnMX(M=Ru, Rh, Pd;X=As, P)in magnetic fields up to 150 or 320 kOe. Antiferromagnetic(AF)-ferromagnetic(F) field-induced transitions and (AF+F)-(F) one were observed for Mn_3GaC and Mn_3ZnC, respectively. For Mn_Co_Sb, intermediate(I)- ferrimagnetic(Fr) field-induced transitions were observed. For Mn_Co_Sb, AF-Fr field-induced transitions were observed. These transitions were of the first order except one of Mn_3ZnC. The magnetic properties of MnMX (M=Ru, Rh, Pd;X=As, P) were discussed on the basis of the values of magnetization and high-field magnetic susceptibility

    SimBlock: A Blockchain Network Simulator

Blockchain, which is a technology for distributedly managing ledger information over multiple nodes without a centralized system, has elicited increasing attention. Performing experiments on actual blockchains are difficult because a large number of nodes in wide areas are necessary. In this study, we developed a blockchain network simulator SimBlock for such experiments. Unlike the existing simulators, SimBlock can easily change behavior of node, so that it enables to investigate the influence of nodes' behavior on blockchains. We compared some simulation results with the measured values in actual blockchains to demonstrate the validity of this simulator. Furthermore, to show practical usage, we conducted two experiments which clarify the influence of neighbor node selection algorithms and relay networks on the block propagation time. The simulator could depict the effects of the two techniques on block propagation time. The simulator will be publicly available in a few months.Comment: Proc. 2nd Workshop on Cryptocurrencies and Blockchains for Distributed Systems (CryBlock 2019) (in conj. with INFOCOM 2019

Effects of aging on the microclimate pH of the rat jejunum

AbstractThe acidic microclimate layer in the vicinity of the cell surface of mammalian jejunum is important for absorption of some nutrients, such as small peptides and folate. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of aging on the cell surface pH (microclimate pH) of the jejunum of rats. The microclimate pH was measured in vitro in superfused preparations using single-barreled pH-sensitive microelectrodes filled with a liquid ion exchanger. The thickness of the microclimate layer was estimated by reading the distance of microelectrode advancements. The existence of a microclimate pH in the jejunum was confirmed in the senescent rats, but the value of the microclimate pH was significantly higher in the senescent (24 mo) rats (6.52 0.02) than in the young-adult (6 mo) rats (6.09 ± 0.01) (P < 0.01). Na+ removal from the perfusate or the addition of amiloride elevated the pH in the senescent rats as well as in the young-adult rats. The microclimate layer was slightly thinner in the senescent rats than in the young-adult rats. The acidity of the microclimate layer of intestinal surface is lower in senescent animals than in young-adult ones. One of reasons for this is the thinner mucus layer in senescent animals
