Long-range exciton transport in brightly fluorescent furan/phenylene co-oligomer crystals

The design of light-emitting crystalline organic semiconductors for optoelectronic applications requires a thorough understanding of the singlet exciton transport process. In this study, we show that the singlet exciton diffusion length in a promising semiconductor crystal based on furan/phenylene co-oligomers is 24 nm. To achieve this, we employed the photoluminescence quenching technique using a specially synthesized quencher, which is a long furan/phenylene co-oligomer that was facilely implanted into the host crystal lattice. Extensive Monte-Carlo simulations, exciton-exciton annihilation experiments and numerical modelling fully supported our findings. We further demonstrated the high potential of the furan/phenylene co-oligomer crystals for light-emitting applications by fabricating solution-processed organic light emitting transistors

Construction of the Tycho Reference Catalogue

The Tycho Reference Catalogue (TRC) project, as proposed in 1992 by the present authors, aimed to extend the Hipparcos reference system to fainter magnitudes. To assure rigidity of the reference system realization, the project relied on the Tycho Cataloguethat provides highly-accurate positions of more than one million stars on the Hipparcos system. To maintain the precision of the reference system over longer periods of time, high-precision proper motions must be derived from Tycho and earlier ground-based measurements, most notably the century-old Astrographic Catalogue(AC). The recently published first version of the Tycho Reference Catalogue provides highly-accurate positions and proper motions for 990 182 stars of the Tycho Catalogue. It realizes the ICRS/Hipparcos system in the optical domain with a median accuracy of 45 mas at epoch J2000.0. The realization is based on stars of median magnitude BT=11.25B_{\mathrm{T}}=11.25 mag, providing an average of 24 reference stars per square degree. The median accuracy of the TRC proper motions, estimated from external comparisons as 2.4 mas/yr, ensures a reference system realization with an accuracy better than 100 mas over the time span of a few decades. Highly-accurate astrometry combined with homogeneous two-colour Tycho photometry makes TRC an ideal choice for a wide range of astronomical applications. The present paper covers the major steps of the TRC construction, including the Astrographic Cataloguereduction onto the Hipparcos system, identification of the Tycho Catalogue stars in the AC, derivation of proper motions, a posteriori systematic corrections of the proper motions to account for residual AC systematic errors, and the TRC quality assessment. The relation of the TRC with the recently published ACT catalogue is outlined. A future version of the TRC, to be based on the new Tycho data processing and a global block adjustment of the Astrographic Catalogue, is briefly discussed

GENDER FEATURES OF NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE IN COMBINATION WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME

Evaluation of clinical course and metabolic disorders in men and women with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome (MS). Was investigated 164 patients with NAFLD, including 103 men and 61 women. In comparative terms we studied clinical manifestations of NAFLD. All patients NAFLD was verified for the first time. We studied the functional state of the liver function, lipid, carbohydrate and insulin resistance. The study involved 164 patients with NAFLD, including 103 men aged 29 to 64 years and 61 women aged from 44 to 63 years. All the women were examined in a phase of physiological menopause. Patients were divided into 2 groups. In Group 1 included 124 patients with diagnostic criteria for MS, Group 2 consisted of 40 patients without MS. Violations evaluated differentially in men and women. NAFLD is found in most patients with MS in the background. However, a cluster of factors constituting MS significantly more pronounced in men. Main patofi-physiologically factors contributing to the formation of NAFLD, namely TS and-Disley-epidemic appeared to be more significant in men. Perhaps this may be due to bo-Lee early development of liver steatosis in males and younger age compared to women. NAFLD is diagnosed more often in men

Synthesis, Molecular Docking, In Vitro and In Vivo Studies of Novel Dimorpholinoquinazoline-Based Potential Inhibitors of PI3K/Akt/mTOR Pathway

A (series) range of potential dimorpholinoquinazoline-based inhibitors of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR cascade was synthesized. Several compounds exhibited cytotoxicity towards a panel of cancer cell lines in the low and sub-micromolar range. Compound 7c with the highest activity and moderate selectivity towards MCF7 cells which express the mutant type of PI3K was also tested for the ability to inhibit PI3K-(signaling pathway) downstream effectors and associated proteins. Compound 7c inhibited the phosphorylation of Akt, mTOR, and S6K at 125–250 nM. It also triggered PARP1 cleavage, ROS production, and cell death via several mechanisms. Inhibition of PI3Kα was observed at a concentration of 7b 50 µM and of 7c 500 µM and higher, that can indicate minority PI3Kα as a target among other kinases in the titled cascade for 7c. In vivo studies demonstrated an inhibition of tumor growth in the colorectal tumor model. According to the docking studies, the replacement of the triazine core in gedatolisib (8) by a quinazoline fragment, and incorporation of a (hetero)aromatic unit connected with the carbamide group via a flexible spacer, can result in more selective inhibition of the PI3Kα isoform
