The Effect of Clay Pozzolana-Cement-Composite on the Strength Development of a Hydraulic Backfill
The study sought to investigate the potential application of clay pozzolana as a supplement for cement in hydraulic backfill, using classified tailings from AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine. The percentage of the Portland cement that could be substituted with the clay pozzolana to produce backfill with best strength was determined. 10%, 25%, 30%, 35% and 40% of the ordinary Portland cement were replaced with clay pozzolana and then mixed with tailings and water. The slurry produced was cast into cylindrical specimen of 50mm diameter by 120mm high and tested for compressive strength after curing for 7, 14, 21, 28 and 56 days. The results indicate that, clay pozzolana-cement composite has potential for application in hydraulic back fill production without increased risk to safety and dilution. It was noted that hydraulic backfill with 10%, 25%, 30% and 35% of the ordinary portland cement replaced with clay pozzolana had strengths greater than those obtained for ordinary portland cement alone. Ten percent (10%) pozzolana content gave the maximum strength followed by 25% pozzolana. It is recommended that for safety and economic considerations, the cement content should be replaced by 25% pozzolana in the production of backfills. Search for Light Gluinos via the Spontaneous Appearance of pi+pi- Pairs with an 800 GeV/c Proton Beam at Fermilab
We searched for the appearance of pi+pi- pairs with invariant mass greater
than 648 MeV in a neutral beam. Such an observation could signify the decay of
a long-lived light neutral particle. We find no evidence for this decay. Our
null result severely constrains the existence of an R0 hadron, which is the
lightest bound state of a gluon and a light gluino, and thereby also the
possibility of a light gluino. Depending on the photino mass, we exclude the R0
in the mass and lifetime ranges of 1.2 -- 4.6 GeV and 2E-10 -- 7E-4 seconds,

Evidence for Direct CP Violation in and Observation of
We report measurements of the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for B^+-
-> eta h^+- (h = K or pi) and the observation of the decay B^0 -> eta K^0 from
the final data sample of 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector
at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. The measured branching fractions
are Br(B^+- -> eta K^+-) = (2.12 +- 0.23 +- 0.11)x10^-6}, Br(B^+- -> eta pi^+-)
= (4.07 +- 0.26 +- 0.21)x10^{-6} and Br(B^0 -> eta K^0) = (1.27^{+0.33}_{-0.29}
+- 0.08)x10^-6, where the last decay is observed for the first time with a
significance of 5.4 standard deviations (\sigma). We also find evidence for CP
violation in the charged B modes, A_{CP}(B^+- -> eta K^+-) = -0.38 +- 0.11 +-
0.01 and A_{CP}(B^+- -> eta pi^+- = -0.19 +- 0.06 +- 0.01 with significances of
3.8 sigma and 3.0 sigma, respectively. For all measurements, the first and

Time-Dependent CP Asymmetries in B0 -> Ks pi0 gamma transitions
We report measurements of CP violation parameters in B0->Ks pi0 gamma
transitions based on a data sample of 535x10^6 BB pairs collected with the
Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. One neutral B
meson is fully reconstructed in the B0->Ks pi0 gamma mode. The flavor of the
accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. For a Ks pi0
invariant mass up to 1.8 GeV/c^2, we obtain S = -0.10 +- 0.31 +- 0.07 and A =
-0.20 +- 0.20 +- 0.06. For a Ks pi0 invariant mass near the K*0(892) resonance,
we obtain S = -0.32 +0.36-0.33 +-0.05 and A=-0.20 +-0.24 +-0.05.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted by PR
Search for the Decay K_L -> pi^0 nu nubar using pi^0 -> e^+ e^- gamma
We report on a search for the decay K_L -> pi^0 nu nubar, carried out as a
part of E799-II, a rare K_L decay experiment at Fermilab. Within the Standard
Model, the K_L -> pi^0 nu nubar decay is dominated by direct CP violating
processes, and thus an observation of the decay implies confirmation of direct
CP violation. Due to theoretically clean calculations, a measurement of B(K_L
-> pi^0 nu nubar) is one of the best ways to determine the CKM parameter eta.
No events were observed, and we set an upper limit B(K_L -> pi^0 nu nubar) <
5.9 times 10^-7 at the 90% confidence level.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Measurements of Charmless Hadronic b->s Penguin Decays in the pi+pi-K+pi- Final State and First Observation of B0 -> rho0K+pi-
We report measurements of charmless hadronic B^0 decays into the pi+pi-K+pi+
final state. The analysis uses a sample of 657x10^6 BBbar pairs collected with
the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the Y(4S)
resonance. The decay B^0 -> rho0 Kpi is observed for the first time; the
significance is 5.0sigma and the corresponding partial branching fraction for
M_Kpi in (0.75,1.20) GeV/c^2 is [2.8 +- 0.5(stat) +-0.5(syst)] x 10^{-6}. We
also obtain the first evidence for B^0 -> f0Kpi with 3.5sigma significance and
for B^0 -> pi+pi-K*0 with 4.5sigma significance. For the two-body decays B^0 ->
rho0K*0 and B^0 -> f0K*0, the significances are 2.7sigma and 2.5sigma,
respectively, and the upper limits on the branching fractions are 3.4x10^{-6}
