Simulation of Lattice Polymers with Multi-Self-Overlap Ensemble
A novel family of dynamical Monte Carlo algorithms for lattice polymers is
proposed. Our central idea is to simulate an extended ensemble in which the
self-avoiding condition is systematically weakened. The degree of the
self-overlap is controlled in a similar manner as the multicanonical ensemble.
As a consequence, the ensemble --the multi-self-overlap ensemble-- contains
adequate portions of self-overlapping conformations as well as higher energy
ones. It is shown that the multi-self-overlap ensemble algorithm reproduce
correctly the canonical averages at finite temperatures of the HP model of
lattice proteins. Moreover, it outperforms massively a standard multicanonical
algorithm for a difficult example of a polymer with 8-stickers. Alternative

Sparticle Spectrum Constraints
The supersymmetric standard model with supergravity-inspired soft breaking
terms predicts a rich pectrum of sparticles to be discovered at the SSC, LHC
and NLC. Because there are more supersymmetric particles than unknown
parameters, one can write down sum rules relating their masses. We discuss the
pectrum of sparticles from this point of view. Some of the sum rules do not
depend on the input parameters and can be used to test the consistency of the
model, while others are useful in determining the input parameters of the
theory. If supersymmetry is discovered but the sum rules turn out to be
violated, it will be evidence of new physics beyond the minimal supersymmetric

Testing Error Correcting Codes by Multicanonical Sampling of Rare Events
The idea of rare event sampling is applied to the estimation of the
performance of error-correcting codes. The essence of the idea is importance
sampling of the pattern of noises in the channel by Multicanonical Monte Carlo,
which enables efficient estimation of tails of the distribution of bit error
rate. The idea is successfully tested with a convolutional code
Non-equilibrium Relations for Spin Glasses with Gauge Symmetry
We study the applications of non-equilibrium relations such as the Jarzynski
equality and fluctuation theorem to spin glasses with gauge symmetry. It is
shown that the exponentiated free-energy difference appearing in the Jarzynski
equality reduces to a simple analytic function written explicitly in terms of
the initial and final temperatures if the temperature satisfies a certain
condition related to gauge symmetry. This result is used to derive a lower
bound on the work done during the non-equilibrium process of temperature
change. We also prove identities relating equilibrium and non-equilibrium
quantities. These identities suggest a method to evaluate equilibrium
quantities from non-equilibrium computations, which may be useful to avoid the

Prospects for Supersymmetry at LEP2
Working within the framework of the minimal supergravity model with gauge
coupling unification and radiative electroweak symmetry breaking (SUGRA), we
map out regions of parameter space explorable by experiments at LEP2, for
center of mass energy options of , and 205 GeV. We
compute signals from all accessible SUSY pair production
processes using the ISAJET simulation program, and devise cuts that enhance the
signal relative to Standard Model backgrounds, and which also serve to
differentiate various supersymmetric processes from one another. We delineate
regions of SUGRA parameter space where production of neutralino pairs, chargino
pairs, slepton pairs and the production of the light Higgs scalar of SUSY is
detectable above Standard Model backgrounds and distinguishable from other SUSY
processes. In addition, we find small regions of SUGRA parameter space where
\te\te, \tz_2\tz_2 and \tnu_L\tnu_L production yields spectacular events
with up to four isolated leptons. The combined regions of parameter space
explorable by LEP2 are compared with the reach of Tevatron Main Injector era
experiments. Finally, we comment on how the reach via the neutralino pair
channel is altered when the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking constraint

Transient dynamics for sequence processing neural networks
An exact solution of the transient dynamics for a sequential associative
memory model is discussed through both the path-integral method and the
statistical neurodynamics. Although the path-integral method has the ability to
give an exact solution of the transient dynamics, only stationary properties
have been discussed for the sequential associative memory. We have succeeded in
deriving an exact macroscopic description of the transient dynamics by
analyzing the correlation of crosstalk noise. Surprisingly, the order parameter
equations of this exact solution are completely equivalent to those of the
statistical neurodynamics, which is an approximation theory that assumes
crosstalk noise to obey the Gaussian distribution. In order to examine our
theoretical findings, we numerically obtain cumulants of the crosstalk noise.
We verify that the third- and fourth-order cumulants are equal to zero, and
that the crosstalk noise is normally distributed even in the non-retrieval
case. We show that the results obtained by our theory agree with those obtained
by computer simulations. We have also found that the macroscopic unstable state
