    Games with incomplete information are formulated in a multi-sector probability matrix formalism that can cope with quantum as well as classical strategies.     Altruistic Contents of Quantum Prisoner's Dilemma

    We examine the classical contents of quantum games. It is shown that a quantum strategy can be interpreted as a classical strategies with effective density-dependent game matrices composed of transposed matrix elements.     A general approximation of quantum graph vertex couplings by scaled Schroedinger operators on thin branched manifolds

    We demonstrate that any self-adjoint coupling in a quantum graph vertex can be approximated by a family of magnetic Schroedinger operators on a tubular network built over the graph. If such a manifold has a boundary, Neumann conditions are imposed at it. The procedure involves a local change of graph topology in the vicinity of the vertex; the approximation scheme constructed on the graph is subsequently `lifted' to the manifold. For the corresponding operator a norm-resolvent convergence is proved, with the natural identification map, as the tube diameters tend to zero.Comment: 19 pages, one figure; introduction amended and some references added, to appear in CM

    Syntactic comprehension of relative clauses and center embedding using pseudowords

    Relative clause (RC) formation and center embedding (CE) are two primary syntactic operations fundamental for creating and understanding complex sentences. Ample evidence from previous cross-linguistic studies has revealed several similarities and differences between RC and CE. However, it is not easy to investigate the effect of pure syntactic constraints for RC and CE without the interference of semantic and pragmatic interactions. Here, we show how readers process CE and RC using a self-paced reading task in Korean. More interestingly, we adopted a novel self-paced pseudoword reading task to exploit syntactic operations of the RC and CE, eliminating the semantic and pragmatic interference in sentence comprehension. Our results showed that the main effects of RC and CE conform to previous studies. Furthermore, we found a facilitation effect of sentence comprehension when we combined an RC and CE in a complex sentence. Our study provides a valuable insight into how the purely syntactic processing of RC and CE assists comprehension of complex sentences

    Exact Treatment of the Pauli Exclusion Operator in Nuclear Matter Calculation

    Exact expressions of the Pauli exclusion operator Q in the nuclear matter calculation are presented in detail. Exact formulae are also given for the calculations of the single-particle-potential energy and the binding energy per nucleon with the exact Q operator. Numerical calculations of the G matrix in the lowest-order Brueckner theory are carried out to check the reliability of the standard angle-average approximation for the Q operator by employing the Bonn B and C NN potentials. It is observed that the exact treatment of the operator Q brings about non-negligible and attractive contributions to the binding energy.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure

    Level spacing distribution of pseudointegrable billiard

    In this paper, we examine the level spacing distribution P(S)P(S) of the rectangular billiard with a single point-like scatterer, which is known as pseudointegrable. It is shown that the observed P(S)P(S) is a new type, which is quite different from the previous conclusion. Even in the strong coupling limit, the Poisson-like behavior rather than Wigner-like is seen for S>1S>1, although the level repulsion still remains in the small SS region.
