HISTOLOGICAL AND CYTOLOGICAL STUDIES ON OOCYTE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LARVIVOROUS FISH, APLOCHEILUS PANCHAX HAMILTON AND BUCHANAN
Histological and cytological observations of oocyte development in the lesser top minnow, Aplocheilus panchax were described Various stages of developing oocytes of A. panchax also shown. The development of oocytes were classified into six stages according to the histological characters. First growth phase with two stages and three stages in second growth phase. Yolk bodies make their appearance from the beginning of second growth phase. Histochemical studies show that three types of yolk granules are found during vitellogenesis. Lipid yolk found as lipid doplets followed by protein yolk granules. the third type of inclusions are the intravesicular yolk, carbohydrate yolk which form the peripheral cytoplasm after the lipid protein yolk started to accumulate.

EMBRYOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN ORCHESTIA PLATENSIS KROYER (CRUSTACEA: AMPHIPODA)
In O. platensis, the egg size is found to varyin accordance with the stage of development. With few exceptions, all the eggs in a single brood-pouch are in the same stage of development. In brief, the entire development can be divided into eight stages. The young juveniles range between 1.3 mm and 1.6 mm in length at the time of hatching

STUDIES ON THE ANATOMY AND HISTOLOGY OF THE FOREGUT IN ORCHESTIA PLATENSIS KRYER (CRUSTACEA : AMPHIPODA)
The digestive tract of Orchestia platensis is a straight tube consisting of a foregut, midgut and hindgut. foregutis differentiated into oesophagus, cardiac stomach and pyloric stomach. The oesophagusandston are histologically similar; in each the wall consists of chitinous intima, columnar epithelium, tunica prop circular muscles and sometimes, longitudinal muscles. The wall of the cardiac and the pyloric stomac arranged in complicated folds forming a number of ampullae and lamellae. The cardiac stomach s elaborate gastric mill system forming a triturating apparatus. The posterior triangular pyloric stomach as a filtering apparatus
