Abstract. -Objectives: Ganoderma (G.) boninense is a white rot fungus, which can be found in the palm oil tree. Several studies have shown that G. boninense has antimicrobial and antagonistic properties. However, there is limited information reported on antifungal properties especially on Candida (C.) albicans. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the anti-Candida activity of G. boninense against C. albicans. Materials and Methods: Crude methanolic extracts of G. boninense was obtained by maceration method with 70% methanol. Anti-Candida test was carried out using disc diffusion assay, broth dilution method, time killing profile and brine shrimp toxicity assay. Results and Conclusions: Anti-Candida activity indicated that the mean zone of inhibition was 12.5 ± 0.6 mm. The MIC value for C. albicans found to be 3.125 mg/ml. The result from timekilling profile showed that the growth of C. albicans was inhibited hence decreases its exponential phase. For brine shrimp toxicity assay, the LC 50 value was 3.59 mg/ml which proved that the extract of G. boninense is not toxic

Abstract. -Objectives: Hevea brasiliensis extract could potentially be employed as a relatively low cost resource for various anti-fungal activities due to the simplicity of latex preparation and the abundance of latex that can be obtained in rubber producing regions. The present study was aimed at examining the species specific anti-fungal property of H. brasilensis latex C-serum against Aspergillus niger. Results: The results showed that the latex Cserum exerted a specific antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, but not Candida albicans. Low toxicity of the C-serum was demonstrated in Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) with an LC 50 value of 98.4 mg/ml. Conclusions: Pending further more elaborated investigations, H. brasiliensis latex C-serum, with its species specific anti-fungal and cancer-origin cell line specific anti-proliferation properties, would probably contribute in healthcare in addition to its traditional role in polymer industry
