A Fuzzy GA Based STATCOM for Power Quality Improvement
This paper deals with various power issues such as voltage sag, swell, harmonics, and surges using static synchronous compensator (STATCOM).The conventional controller suffers from uncertain parameters and non-linear qualities. However they are computationally inefficient extending to optimize the fuzzy controller (FC) parameters, since they exhaustively search the optimal values to optimize the objective functions. To overcome this drawback, a genetic algorithm (GA) based Fuzzy controller parameter optimization is presented in this paper. The GA algorithm is used to find the optimal fuzzy parameters for minimizing the objective functions. The feasibility of the proposed GA technique for distribution systems to improve the sag and total harmonic Distortion (THD) as major power quality indices in sensitive loads at fault conditions has been simulated and tested. Therefore, the multi-objective optimization algorithm is considered in order to attain a better performance in solving the related problems

Metzenbaum’s procedure: a forgotten technique in septal surgery

Background: Deviation of the caudal end of the nasal septum is one of the significant challenges encountered in septal surgery. Deviated caudal septum changes lobular and columellar relationships and has a significant effect on tip position and symmetry. Metzenbaum was the first to describe the technique for the mobilisation of the caudal end in a swinging door fashion. Our study aims to highlight the procedure and its advantages.

Methods: This prospective study was conducted in Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery, Adichuchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, BG Nagara, between January 2018 to January 2019. 30 patients above 18 years of age, presenting with isolated deviation of the caudal end of the nasal septum were included in the study. A detailed clinical and photodocumentation was done and the results were analysed as follows.

Results: The postoperative surgical results were evaluated using a 4 point scale. 26 (86.7%) patients gave a score of 1 on the 4 point scale suggesting that they were completely satisfied with the results. Whereas 3 (10%) patients gave a score of 2 on our 4 pt scale. 1 (3.3%) patient felt that there was only a minimal improvement after the surgery hence gave a score of 3 on the 4 point scale.

Conclusions: We conclude that Metzenbaum’s technique is very effective in treating caudal septal deviations. Reviving the Metzenbaum’s procedure will help reduce the failure rate in surgeries for correction of caudal septal deviation.
</jats:p
A Study on Customer Satisfaction towards Reliance JIO SIM in Tirupattur District
Customer satisfaction is the overall essence of the impression of the supplier by the customers. This impression which a customer makes regarding the supplier is the total of all the processes he goes through, right from communicating with the supplier before doing any marketing to post-delivery options and services and managing queries or complaints post-delivery. During this process, the customer comes across the working environment of various departments and the type of strategies involved in the organisation. This helps the customer to make a strong opinion about the supplier, which finally results in satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Customer satisfaction is a business term that is used to capture the idea of measuring how satisfied an enterprise’s customers are with the organisation’s efforts in a marketplace. The use of Reliance Jio Sim has been increasing rapidly in recent years. It gives more concentration towards satisfying customers. This made the researcher study the satisfactory level of customers towards Reliance Jio Sim in Tirupattur District. The present study is about customer satisfaction with Reliance Jio services, factors influencing to prefer to go with Reliance Jio Sim. Percentage analysis, Freidman Rank Test is applied to find the satisfactory level of Reliance Jio services.</jats:p
A two level security mechanism to detect a DDoS flooding attack in software-defined networks using entropy-based and C4.5 technique
An intelligent flow-based and signature-based IDS for SDNs using ensemble feature selection and a multi-layer machine learning-based classifier
Software-defined networking is a new paradigm that overcomes problems associated with traditional network architecture by separating the control logic from data plane devices. It also enhances performance by providing a highly-programmable interface that adapts to dynamic changes in network policies. As software-defined networking controllers are prone to single-point failures, providing security is one of the biggest challenges in this framework. This paper intends to provide an intrusion detection mechanism in both the control plane and data plane to secure the controller and forwarding devices respectively. In the control plane, we imposed a flow-based intrusion detection system that inspects every new incoming flow towards the controller. In the data plane, we assigned a signature-based intrusion detection system to inspect traffic between Open Flow switches using port mirroring to analyse and detect malicious activity. Our flow-based system works with the help of trained, multi-layer machine learning-based classifier, while our signature-based system works with rule-based classifiers using the Snort intrusion detection system. The ensemble feature selection technique we adopted in the flow-based system helps to identify the prominent features and hasten the classification process. Our proposed work ensures a high level of security in the Software-defined networking environment by working simultaneously in both control plane and data plane.</jats:p
