Modified DA based FIR Filter in Multirate DSP systems on FPGA

    Get PDF
Multirate systems are popular in DSP.Systems which employ multiple sampling rates in the processing of digital signals are called Multirate DSP systems, which are used in audio, video processing and communication systems. Multirate DSP systems that employ different chips for different frequency signal results in more area and power utilization. The setback can be avoided by implementing Multirate system, based on Distributed Arithmetic FIR filter. Using such systems, we can achieve computation efficiency and improve the system performance. Modified DA based FIR Filter using Multirate systems includes decimation, interpolation process implemented on FPGA with 53% less LUT utilization compared to existing Multirate system

Malignant melanoma of breast: a case report

    Get PDF
Malignant melanoma rarely affects the breast. Malignant melanoma of breast is divided into two categories: primary and metastatic lesions. Primary melanoma involves the skin and less commonly the glandular parenchyma of the breast. Differentiating them is very important in deciding on treatment strategies. This case report aims to increase awareness of unusual neoplasms of the breast which requires a different surgical and adjuvant therapeutic approach

Effect of Pranayama on cognition and other higher mental functions

Introduction: Yoga and pranayama are the ancient Indian life style practices which has no limits for age or gender. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of pranayama on cognition. Materials and methods: This is a pre-post study which includes 100 healthy medical students of 18-25 years age group with equal male to female ratio. They practised daily pranayama (anulom vilom) for 10 minutes; two hours post lunch for 12 weeks in clinical laboratory, department of physiology, Prathima institute of medical sciences. Their cognitive function is assessed by trail making test and mini mental state examination at the beginning and at the end of 12 weeks period in which they regularly practised pranayama, and the results were compared. Results: There is no significant gender difference in the results obtained. After 12 weeks regular practise of pranayama, there is a significant reduction in the time taken for trail making test (P<0.001) and also significant improvement in the scores of mini mental state examination (P<0.001). Conclusion: This study shows that, there is a significant improvement of cognition with regular daily practise of pranayama

Prospective study of skin adnexal tumours for a period of two years in a tertiary care hospital

Background: Skin adnexal tumours are rare tumours with complex histological patterns and variations and difficult to diagnose by histopathology only, so clinical history and presentation is necessary. The objective of the study was to correlate with age, sex, location, type of differentiation of adnexal tumours in our pathology department. Methods: The present study was a prospective study done in the department of pathology in Andhra medical college, King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam. A total of 51 cases were included in this study from January 2015 to December 2016. Specimens were formalin fixed and after adequately processing the sections were stained routinely with hematoxylin and eosin stain and properly evaluated for histopathological examination. Results: Out of these 51 cases, 88.24% (45 cases) were benign, and 11.76% (6 cases) were malignant tumours. Hair follicle differentiation were most common (35.3%) followed by sebaceous gland differentiation (31.37%) and sweat gland differentiation (29.41%).Conclusions: Benign adnexal tumours were most common than malignant tumours. Skin adnexal tumours are clinically often misdiagnosed, so histopathological examination remains gold standard for their correct diagnosis.

Qualitative analysis of varsha forecast using various inputs - A study at Flosolver

    Get PDF
Varsha, a hydrostatic spectral general circulation model developed at Flosolver, NAL is used for forecasting the monsoon from the year 2005. Generally, significant variations are noted in NWP model forecasts, if the initial conditions are taken from different sources and also if the input parameters are slightly perturbed. The influence of perturbations in specific humidity and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and the initial conditions from ECMWF, Reanalysis and Final Analysis data of NCEP on forecasts is studied using Varsha GCM. The results show that the initial conditions of specific humidity have a crucial role in rainfall forecasts. The persistent anomaly method applied for SST also provides a better rainfall forecast. It is also13; seen that the ECMWF data gives the better initial conditions to the model than other sources
