StyleGAN3: Generative Networks for Improving the Equivariance of Translation and Rotation
StyleGAN can use style to affect facial posture and identity features, and
noise to affect hair, wrinkles, skin color and other details. Among these, the
outcomes of the picture processing will vary slightly between different
versions of styleGAN. As a result, the comparison of performance differences
between styleGAN2 and the two modified versions of styleGAN3 will be the main
focus of this study. We used the FFHQ dataset as the dataset and FID, EQ-T, and
EQ-R were used to be the assessment of the model. In the end, we discovered
that Stylegan3 version is a better generative network to improve the
equivariance. Our findings have a positive impact on the creation of animation
and videos
The cellular distribution of Na+/H+ exchanger regulatory factor 1 is determined by the PDZ-I domain and regulates the malignant progression of breast cancer
The oncogenic role of ectopic expression of Na+/H+ exchanger regulatory factor 1 (NHERF1) was recently suggested. Here, we show that NHERF1 was upregulated in high grades compared with low grades. Increased NHERF1 expression was correlated with poor prognosis and poor survival. NHERF1 expression was higher in the nucleus of cancer cells than in contiguous non- mammary epithelial cells. A novel mutation, namely NHERF1 Y24S, was identified in human breast cancer tissues and shown to correspond to a conserved residue in the PDZ-I domain of NHERF1. Truncation and mutation of the PDZ-I domain of NHERF1 increased the nuclear distribution of the NHERF1 protein, and this redistribution was associated with the malignant phenotype of breast cancer cells, including growth, migration, and adhesion. The present results suggest a role for NHERF1 in the progression of breast cancer mediated by the nuclear distribution of the NHERF1 protein, as determined by the truncation or key site mutation of the PDZ-I domain
Robust Full-Order and Reduced- Order Observers for a Class of Uncertain Switched Systems
This paper deals with the problem of robust state estimation for a class of switched linear systems with unknown inputs under average dwell time (ADT) switching, where the switching of the observers is synchronous with that of the estimated system. First, based on the feasibility of an optimization problem with linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraint, a robust sliding-mode switched observer is developed such that the asymptotic state reconstruction is guaranteed even if the switched system is with unknown inputs. Second, a reduced-order switched system which avoids the influence of unknown inputs is constructed by the technique of state transformation, and a reduced-order switched observer is proposed to estimate the continuous states of the original switched system. Next, the conditions under which a full-order switched observer exists also guarantee the existence of a reduced-order switched observer. The convergence of the state estimate is proved to be exponential by appropriate Lyapunov analysis. Finally, the simulation results confirm the predicted performance and applicability by a simplified three-tank system
Discovering genetic linkage between periodontitis and type 1 diabetes: A bioinformatics study
Background: Relationship between periodontitis (PD) and type 1 diabetes (T1D) has been reported, but the detailed pathogenesis requires further elucidation. This study aimed to reveal the genetic linkage between PD and T1D through bioinformatics analysis, thereby providing novel insights into scientific research and clinical treatment of the two diseases. Methods: PD-related datasets (GSE10334, GSE16134, GSE23586) and T1D-related datasets(GSE162689)were downloaded from NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Following batch correction and merging of PD-related datasets as one cohort, differential expression analysis was performed (adjusted p-value <0.05 and ∣log2  fold change| > 0.5), and common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between PD and T1D were extracted. Functional enrichment analysis was conducted via Metascape website. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of common DEGs was generated in The Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins (STRING) database. Hub genes were selected by Cytoscape software and validated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results: 59 common DEGs of PD and T1D were identified. Among these DEGs, 23 genes were commonly upregulated, and 36 genes were commonly downregulated in both PD- and T1D-related cohorts. Functional enrichment analysis indicated that common DEGs were mainly enriched in tube morphogenesis, supramolecular fiber organization, 9 + 0 non-motile cilium, plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly, glomerulus development, enzyme-linked receptor protein signaling pathway, endochondral bone morphogenesis, positive regulation of kinase activity, cell projection membrane and regulation of lipid metabolic process. After PPI construction and modules selection, 6 hub genes (CD34, EGR1, BBS7, FMOD, IGF2, TXN) were screened out and expected to be critical in linking PD and T1D. ROC analysis showed that the AUC values of hub genes were all greater than 70% in PD-related cohort and greater than 60% in T1D-related datasets. Conclusion: Shared molecular mechanisms between PD and T1D were revealed in this study, and 6 hub genes were identified as potential targets in treating PD and T1D
GrapevineXL reliably predicts multi-annual dynamics of vine water status, berry growth, and sugar accumulation in vineyards
Climate and water availability greatly affect each season’s grape yield and quality. Using models to accurately predict environment impacts on fruit productivity and quality is a huge challenge. We calibrated and validated the functional-structuralmodel, GrapevineXL, with a data set including grapevine seasonal midday stem water potential (Ψ xylem), berry dry weight (DW), fresh weight (FW), and sugar concentration per volume ([Sugar]) for a wine grape cultivar (Vitis vinifera cv.Cabernet Franc) in field conditions over 13 years in Bordeaux, France. Our results showed that the model could make a fair prediction of seasonal Ψ xylem and good-to-excellent predictions of berry DW, FW, [Sugar] and leaf gas exchange responses to predawn andmidday leaf water potentials under diverse environmental conditions with 14 key parameters. By running virtual experiments to mimic climate change, an advanced veraison (i.e. the onset of ripening) of 14 and 28 days led to significant decreases of berry FW by 2.70% and 3.22%, clear increases of berry [Sugar] by 2.90% and 4.29%, and shortened ripening duration in 8 out of 13 simulated years, respectively. Moreover, the impact of the advanced veraison varied with seasonal patterns of climate and soil water availability. Overall, the results showed that the GrapevineXLmodel can predict plant water use and berry growth in field conditions and could serve as a valuable tool for designing sustainable vineyard management strategies to cope with climate change
From optical to X-ray ghost imaging
Recent advances in ghost imaging techniques and X-ray sources such as synchrotrons and, more recently, X-ray free-electron lasers (XFEL) have made X-ray ghost imaging a growing topic of interest. One specific type of ghost imaging utilizes thermal radiation and the measurement of intensity fluctuation correlation to form a true image without the need of a lens. This technique allows for much higher resolution than traditional X-ray imaging for a mesoscopic or even a microscopic object. In addition to this benefit of not requiring a lens, a surprising experiment has shown that, when set up correctly, this type of ghost imaging can provide clear images through the measurement of intensity fluctuation correlation when traditional images through measurements of intensity are blurred due to optical turbulence and vibrations. This turbulence-free technique will help maintain the high resolution of X-ray ghost imaging. How is an image formed from fluctuations in light? And what makes it turbulence-free? Using the concept of two-photon interference, this article provides an introduction to these fundamentally interesting concepts and X-ray ghost imaging
