Endlager fuer radioaktive Abfaelle: Schachtanlage Konrad

Das Atomgesetz schreibt ein Planfestellungsverfahren vor. Nach Einleitung des Verfahrens im Jahr 1982 wurden die Planunterlagen vom Antragsteller vervollstaendigt und 1991 oeffentlich ausgelegt. Die Eroerterung der Unterlagen konnte im Maerz 1993 abgeschlossen werden. Die Ergebnisse werden nun von der zustaendigen Genehmigungsbehoerde - dem Niedersaechsischen Umweltministerium -bewertet. Bei einem positiven Planfeststellungsbeschluss, der fuer das Jahr 1994 erwartet wird, kann das Endlager nach einer dreijaehrigen Umbauzeit fruehestens 1997 in Betrieb gehen. (orig./HSCH)The Atomic Energy Act requires a plan approval procedure to be carried out prior to licensing of such repositories. The application has been filed in 1982, and the documents have been completed by the site operator and laid open for public inspection in 1991. The information and discussion procedure has been concluded in March 1993, the results are now being assessed and examined by the competent licensing authority which is the Ministry of the Environment of Lower Saxony. After plan approval, which is expected to be decided in 1994, the required backfitting and reconstruction work in the Konrad mine will take about three years in time, so that the operating phase will probably start in 1997.
