A Simulated Data Analysis on the Interval Estimation for the Binomial Proportion P

    Get PDF
This study constructed a quadratic-based interval estimator for binomial proportion p. The modified method imposed a continuity correction over the confidence interval. This modified quadratic-based interval was compared to the different existing alternative intervals through numerical analysis using the following criteria: coverage probability, and expected width for various values of n, p and ? = 0.05. Simulated data results generated the following observations: (1) the coverage probability of modified interval is larger compared to that of the standard and non-modified intervals, for any p and n; (2) the coverage probability of all the alternative methods approaches to the nominal 95% confidence level as n increases for any p;(3) the modified and non-modified intervals have indistinguishable width differences for any p as n gets larger; (4) the expected width of the modified and alternative intervals decreases as n increases for  and any p. Based on these observations one can say that the modified method is an improvement of the standard method. It is therefore recommended to modify other existing alternative methods in such a way that there’s an increase in performance in terms of coverage properties, expected width, and other measures.   Keywords: Confidence Interval, Binomial Distribution, Standard Interval, Coverage Probability, Expected Widt

In recent years, social networking sites (SNSs) have experienced a surge in popularity, particularly among college students. These online platforms offer diverse functionalities that facilitate connections with friends and family, information sharing, and resource exchange. This study aimed to determine the effects of SNSs needs and academic stressors on the academic motivation of college students in one private schools in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Philippines during the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. Using a simple random sampling procedure, 511 first, second, and third-year college students participated and responded to the adapted Likert-type instruments assessing the study variables. The result showed that most college students used Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and YouTube daily. It was also revealed that both SNSs and academic stressors positively affect extrinsic motivation. However, only SNSs have a positive impact on intrinsic motivation. Furthermore, academic stressors positively affect amotivation. Hence, educators and school administrators should consider incorporating SNSs to enhance motivation and engagement among college students. Specifically, educators can leverage the features of SNSs to promote collaboration, communication, and information sharing among students. Additionally, educators may consider designing academic activities encouraging students to use SNSs to explore and apply course content

This study evaluated the implemtation and impact of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – National Community Driven Development Program (KC-NCDDP) in Initao, Misamis Oriental in terms of socio-economic domain, institutional domain, community empowerment domain, and education sector for cycles 1, 2, 3 and 4. The respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on their designation and functions for the previous cycles of the implementation from October 2015 to December 2019. Using descriptive correlation research design, the study utilized a researcher-made instrument to conduct the survey and interview among the selected respondents in all barangays. The study revealed that KC-NCDDP was effective in reducing poverty and promoting social and economic growth under the socio-economic domain as manifested by respondents’ strong agreement on the benefits and services they received from the completed sub-projects or infrastructures. Similarly, it was effective in promoting good governance outcomes under the institutional domain because people had active participation in municipal and barangay activities. It was also effective in empowering communities under the community empowerment domain because people gained a wider knowledge, skills, and values to be productive citizens in the community. In terms of the education sector, it was also effective in promoting school-based management (SBM) participation. For further validation of the results, there must be a similar study conducted with a larger group of subjects if the same findings will be established

A research investigation was conducted to find out the efficacy of the Singapore mathematics approach in aiding the modular print distance learning modality. This study was a quasi-experimental research design using two groups of participants, the Singapore math group and the traditional group. The group was fairly the same with both groups having the same number of participants and the grades of the students were fairly equal. Each group consisted of 42 participants, for a total of 84 participants. The participants were given a pretest to measure their prior knowledge. The result showed that the Singapore Math learning approaches positively affected the learning of the learners in mathematics. In addition, the use of the Singapore Mathematics approach was significantly better than the traditional approach in teaching solving word problems among the learners it has a significant improvement in the knowledge and application skills of the learners was clearly manifested in the Singapore Math approach compared to the Traditional approach of teaching. Further, the use of the Singapore Mathematics Approach was significantly better than the Traditional Approach in teaching solving word problems among the learners. Hence, the use of the Singapore Math Approach should be encouraged as an alternative to teaching solving word problems inside the classroom

ABSTRACT This study examined and investigated the causal analysis relating the personnel management (PM) practices, perceived organizational politics (POP), and perceived satisfaction level (PSL) with the mediating role of organizational identification (OI) to organizational commitment (OC) among the employees of Adventist Medical Center and Adventist Medical Center College, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte. The study utilized a descriptive-correlation and causal non-experimental design and the selection of sample were done through simple random sampling. Results revealed that among the three predictors, only PM has direct and indirect effects to OC. Thus, it is concluded that if PM practices within organization are more beneficial to the employees, they will more likely possess higher satisfaction in their works. They also tend to have strong identification with the organization, which leads them to greater commitment
