Sub-Arcsecond Near-Infrared Images of Massive Star Formation Region NGC 6334 V

We present high spatial resolution (0\farcs3) polarimetric images in the HH and KK bands and direct images in the L′L' and M′M' bands of the NGC 6334 V infrared nebulae. The images show complex structures including the multi-shells and various knots in the nebulae. The appearances and colors of the eastern and western nebulae differ considerably. Our polarization images also show differences between the illuminating sources of the nebulae: the eastern nebula is illuminated by a deeply embedded mid-infrared source, KDJ 4, and the western nebula by our newly detected near-infrared source, WN-A1. The degree of polarization of the nebulae is very large, up to 70% at KK and 60% at HH, which is consistent with a single scattering of near-infrared radiation from each source at the walls of the mass outflows

An aryl hydrocarbon receptor induces VEGF expression through ATF4 under glucose deprivation in HepG2

BACKGROUND: Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) not only regulates drug-metabolizing enzyme expression but also regulates cancer malignancy. The steps to the development of malignancy include angiogenesis that is induced by tumor microenvironments, hypoxia, and nutrient deprivation. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a central role in the angiogenesis of cancer cells, and it is induced by activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4). RESULTS: Recently, we identified that glucose deprivation induces AhR translocation into the nucleus and increases CYP1A1 and 1A2 expression in HepG2 cells. Here, we report that the AhR pathway induces VEGF expression in human hepatoblastoma HepG2 cells under glucose deprivation, which involves ATF4. ATF4 knockdown suppressed VEGF expression under glucose deprivation. Moreover, AhR knockdown suppressed VEGF and ATF4 expression under glucose deprivation at genetic and protein levels. CONCLUSIONS: The AhR-VEGF pathway through ATF4 is a novel pathway in glucose-deprived liver cancer cells that is related to the microenvironment within a cancer tissue affecting liver cancer malignancy

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and trophoblast invasion in caesarean scar pregnancy: Implications for the aetiopathogenesis of placenta accreta spectrum

Immunohistochemical localisation of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase was studied in order to better understand the pathophysiology of placenta accreta spectrum. In the decidua staining for indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase was found in the glandular epithelium with some additional positive cells. Extravillous cytotrophoblast invasion was present in the myometrium which was not covered by the decidual tissue whereas myometrial invasion of cytotrophoblasts was absent where this tissue lay deep to decidua. These results suggest that indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase expression in the decidua may normally control trophoblast invasion and absence of its expression where decidua is absent may be involved in the pathogenesis of the over-invaded placenta. We are grateful to the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (17K11238), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science for financial support
