Robust Design of Transmit Waveform and Receive Filter For Colocated MIMO Radar
We consider the problem of angle-robust joint transmit waveform and receive
filter design for colocated Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar, in the
presence of signal-dependent interferences. The design problem is cast as a
max-min optimization problem to maximize the worst-case output
signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) with respect to the unknown
angle of the target of interest. Based on rank-one relaxation and semi-definite
programming (SDP) representation of a nonnegative trigonometric polynomial, a
cyclic optimization algorithm is proposed to tackle this problem. The
effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated via numerical examples.Comment: 6 pages, 13 figures, part of this work was submitted to IEEE Signal

Modelling the thermo-mechanical volume change behaviour of compacted expansive clays
Compacted expansive clays are often considered as a possible buffer material
in high-level deep radioactive waste disposals. After the installation of waste
canisters, the engineered clay barriers are subjected to
thermo-hydro-mechanical actions in the form of water infiltration from the
geological barrier, heat dissipation from the radioactive waste canisters, and
stresses generated by clay swelling under almost confined conditions. The aim
of the present work is to develop a constitutive model that is able to describe
the behaviour of compacted expansive clays under these coupled
thermo-hydro-mechanical actions. The proposed model is based on two existing
models: one for the hydro-mechanical behaviour of compacted expansive clays and
another for the thermo-mechanical behaviour of saturated clays. The elaborated
model has been validated using the thermo-hydro-mechanical test results on the
compacted MX80 bentonite. Comparison between the model prediction and the
experimental data show that this model is able to reproduce the main features
of volume changes: heating at constant suction and pressure induces either
expansion or contraction; the mean yield stress changes with variations of
suction or temperature

New advances in aircraft MRO services: data mining enhancement
Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) agencies rely largely on row-data based quotation systems to select the best suppliers for the customers (airlines). The data quantity and quality becomes a key issue to determining the success of an MRO job, since we need to ensure we achieve cost and quality benchmarks. This paper introduces a data mining approach to create an MRO quotation system that enhances the data quantity and data quality, and enables significantly more precise MRO job quotations.
Regular Expression was utilized to analyse descriptive textual feedback (i.e. engineer’s reports) in order to extract more referable highly normalised data for job quotation. A text mining based key influencer analysis function enables the user to proactively select sub-parts, defects and possible solutions to make queries more accurate. Implementation results show that system data would improve cost quotation in 40% of MRO jobs, would reduce service cost without causing a drop in service quality
