Postphlebitic ulcer treatment with platelet-rich plasma and autograft of skin. Case Presentation

Cutaneous ulcers not only constitute a serious physical problem, but also a psychological one, as they considerably reduce the patient’s quality of life. The case of a 76 - year - old woman with a history of peripheral venous insufficiency and variceal vascular surgery is presented. She was suffering from a large post - phlebitic ulcer (14 x 9 cm) with a long evolution in the right maleolotibial region. It was applied a treatment with autologous plasma gel rich in platelets and then autografting skin free, of medium thickness. After curing the grafted area and performing cures on an outpatient basis for three weeks, healing was achieved in more than 70% of the initially affected area. The case presentation is aimed at showing the benefits of platelet-rich plasma as healing adjuvant

Primary Lymphoma of the Central Nervous System. Case Presentation

Primary Lymphomas of the Central Nervous System are an uncommon variety of non- Hodgkin extra node which may affect the brain, spinal cord, eyes, meninges and cranial nerves. It is presented a case of a 51-year-old patient who came to the doctor complaining of headache and papilledema caused by an encephalic lesion was corroborated which required surgical treatment. Histological study allowed diagnosing a non-hodking lymphoma of a high malignancy, B cells, positive CD20, with a type of peripheral Burkitt pattern. The patient received immunochemo-therapy and radiotherapy, with a favorable evolution. Because it is an uncommon and aggressive tumor it was decided to present the case

Characterization of Suicidal Attempt in Adolescents of the Cumanayagua Municipality

Foundation: the World Health Organization has determined that suicide in an important health problem since it is among the first causes of death in all ages. In Cuba and in Cienfuegos a trend to increase has been observed in youngsters. Objective: to characterize the suicidal attempt in adolescent of the Cumanayagua municipality from January 2009 to December 2013. Method: a cross descriptive study was done about the epidemiological behavior according to variables of the suicidal conduct at the Cumanayagua municipality from 2009 to 2013 with a universe of 110 patients. The information was collected by revising cards of compulsory statement and surveys where studied variables were included. The statistical analysis was developed by SSPS program and the results are presented in tables. Results: there were a higher number of suicidal attempts in the female sex, white skin, single and secundary schooling. The predominant model was the ingestion of medications and family, school and personal problems were the triggering factors of suicidal attempt. Conclusion: the multi-causal origin of this phenomenon is undeniable and the personal, interpersonal, and social factors are significant in interaction with circumstance and psycho-social factors which function as unleashing factors

Este volumen acoge la memoria académica de la Cuarta edición del Congreso Internacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación para la Sociedad, CITIS 2017, desarrollado entre el 29 de noviembre y el 1 de diciembre de 2017 y organizado por la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) en su sede de Guayaquil. El Congreso ofreció un espacio para la presentación, difusión e intercambio de importantes investigaciones nacionales e internacionales ante la comunidad universitaria que se dio cita en el encuentro. El uso de herramientas tecnológicas para la gestión de los trabajos de investigación como la plataforma Open Conference Systems y la web de presentación del Congreso http://citis.blog.ups.edu.ec/, hicieron de CITIS 2017 un verdadero referente entre los congresos que se desarrollaron en el país. La preocupación de nuestra Universidad, de presentar espacios que ayuden a generar nuevos y mejores cambios en la dimensión humana y social de nuestro entorno, hace que se persiga en cada edición del evento la presentación de trabajos con calidad creciente en cuanto a su producción científica.
