Besides the evil self Eminem shows in many of his songs, there is a personal side in him which may remain practically unknown. Therefore, in this work we propose an analysis of these different selves, preceded by a description of the 4 elements which conform this urban culture, what we consider the key events in hip-hop history and a tour over the main countries and its MCs to detail their relevance

Linguloidean brachiopods from the Lower Ordovician (Tremadocian) of northwestern Argentina

The new obolid Torobolus subplanus gen. et sp. nov., from the lower Temadocian Devendeus Formation, the new species Libecoviella tilcarensis and Leptembolon argentinum, and Ectenoglossa sp. from upper Tremadocian beds of the Santa Rosita Formation are described and ilustrated. Libecoviella is typical of the upper Tremadocian and Floian strata of the Prague basin (Trenice and Klabava formations, respectively) and it has been reported recently from Australia. Leptembolon has been recorded in the same Bohemian formations, but together with other taxa it forms the Thysanotos-Leptembolon Association present in northern Estonia and a series of high-latitude terranes. The record of Leptembolon and Libecoviella in the high- to temperate-latitude Central Andean region attests for a peri-Gondwanan distribution of these genera. The presence of Bohemian-like obolids in northwestern Argentina suggests a migratory route linking the Central Andean basin with north Gondwana and Perunica along the clastic platforms fringing the North African and Brazilian shieldsFil: Benedetto, Juan Luis Arnaldo. Beamforming and Multiuser Detection in CDMA Systems with External Interferences

    Get PDF
Multiuser detection has been investigated to mitigate the near-far effect in CDMA systems. Antenna arrays have been shown to provide spatial diversity and cancel undesired signals. In this paper we consider the synergy of both multiuser detection and antenna arrays for the base station of a CDMA system. The receiver we proposed consists of the known multiuser decorrelator, which cancels multiple-access interferences followed by a beamformer for each user, which cancels the external interferences. This receiver adds an extra branch to the decorrelator. This additional branch, corresponding to a fictitious user with an unused code and zero power, allows to estimate the external interference signal subspace and compute a suitable beamforming weight-vector that cancels the external interferences. The receiver is also extended to the asynchronous case and all of this without any training signal or any a priori spatial information.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

The eoorthid brachiopod Apheoorthina in the Lower Ordovician of NW Argentina and the dispersal pathways along western Gondwana

The eoorthid brachiopod Apheoorthina is reported for the first time from the Lower Ordovician of NW Argentina. It is represented by a species similar to A. ferrigena from the Tremadocian of the Prague Basin, increasing the faunal affinities between the Central Andean Basin and the South European microcontinents, in particular the Bohemian region (Perunica). Nine out of the fourteen brachiopod genera reported from the Tremadocian of the Central Andean Basin (~64 %) are shared with the Mediterranean region, four of which (~ 28 %) have been recorded in the Prague Basin, and two (Kvania and Apheoorthina) are restricted to the Central Andes and Perunica. Dispersal pathways around Gondwana are analyzed in the light of major factors affecting large-scale distribution of brachiopods (environment, larval capacity for dispersal, oceanic currents). The presence in Apheoorthina aff. ferrigena of a well-preserved larval protegulum measuring 420 μm in width and 210 μm in length strongly suggests that this species had planktotrophic larvae capable of long-distance dispersal. According to recent oceanatmosphere general circulation models for the Ordovician Period, the Central Andean margin was dominated by the cold-water Antarctica Current. Despite the complex nonzonal pattern produced by current deflections around the peri-Gondwanan microcontinents, the general westward circulation sense favoured larval dispersal from the Andean region to North Africa, Avalonia, the Armorican Terrane Assemblage, and Perunica. On the other hand, the eastwards flowing Gondwana Current connected the North Gondwana waters with the South American epicontinental seas, which could explain the reversed migration of some brachiopods.Fil: Muñoz, Diego Fernando. This paper studies the potential benefits of antenna arrays in cellular CDMA communications and proposes a powerful scheme to undertake the array processing at the base station in CDMA mobile systems. Scattering in the energy space for Boussinesq equations

In this note we show that all small solutions in the energy space of the generalized 1D Boussinesq equation must decay to zero as time tends to infinity, strongly on slightly proper subsets of the space-time light cone. Our result does not require any assumption on the power of the nonlinearity, working even for the supercritical range of scattering. No parity assumption on the initial data is needed

Blind multiuser adaptive combining for asynchronous cdma systems

This paper presents a novel technique to globally estimate and track the direction of arrival (DOA) of different users in an asynchronous CDMA system. The estimates are obtained exploiting the temporal structure of CDMA signals. No training signal nor a priori spatial information is required. The necessary information is extracted directly from the received signals. The proper combining of the overall information present at the receiver after the despreading, jointly with an Eigenvalue Decomposition (EVD), let as estimate the generalized steering vector for each user. Furthermore, a direct iteration method is introduced in our scheme in order to make the array robust to channel variations and to reduce the computational load of the EVD required for each user.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

INTRODUCING THE MINI-FUTURES CONTRACT ON IBEX-35: IMPLICATIONS FOR PRICE DISCOVERY AND VOLATILITY TRANSMISSION

    Get PDF
In November 2001, the Spanish Official Exchange for Financial Futures and options launched the mini IBEX-35 futures contract. Following the seminal paper of Bessembider and Seguin (1992), this paper analyzes the effects of the introduction of the mini-futures contract in the Spanish stock index futures market. The objective of the paper is twofold: a) to analyze the potential destabilizing effect of the mini futures trading activity on the distribution of spot returns, and b) to test whether the mini futures contract significantly contributes to the price discovery process. A non-parametric approach is used to estimate the density function of spot return conditional to both spot and futures trading volume. Empirical findings using 15-minutes intraday data reveals that the mini futures trading activity enhances the price discovery function of the derivative market and does not destabilize spot prices. Futuros mini, price discovery, desestabilización Ibex 35 Mini-futures, price discovery, destabilization, Ibex 35
