On green routing and scheduling problem
The vehicle routing and scheduling problem has been studied with much
interest within the last four decades. In this paper, some of the existing
literature dealing with routing and scheduling problems with environmental
issues is reviewed, and a description is provided of the problems that have
been investigated and how they are treated using combinatorial optimization
tools
Precoloring co-Meyniel graphs
The pre-coloring extension problem consists, given a graph and a subset
of nodes to which some colors are already assigned, in finding a coloring of
with the minimum number of colors which respects the pre-coloring
assignment. This can be reduced to the usual coloring problem on a certain
contracted graph. We prove that pre-coloring extension is polynomial for
complements of Meyniel graphs. We answer a question of Hujter and Tuza by
showing that ``PrExt perfect'' graphs are exactly the co-Meyniel graphs, which
also generalizes results of Hujter and Tuza and of Hertz. Moreover we show
that, given a co-Meyniel graph, the corresponding contracted graph belongs to a
restricted class of perfect graphs (``co-Artemis'' graphs, which are
``co-perfectly contractile'' graphs), whose perfectness is easier to establish
than the strong perfect graph theorem. However, the polynomiality of our
algorithm still depends on the ellipsoid method for coloring perfect graphs
The graphs with the max-Mader-flow-min-multiway-cut property
We are given a graph , an independant set of \emph{terminals}, and a function . We want to know if the maximum -packing of vertex-disjoint paths with extremities in is equal to the minimum weight of a vertex-cut separating . We call \emph{Mader-Mengerian} the graphs with this property for each independant set and each weight function . We give a characterization of these graphs in term of forbidden minors, as well as a recognition algorithm and a simple algorithm to find maximum packing of paths and minimum multicuts in those graphs
A Prospective Study on Algorithms Adapted to the Spatial Frequency in Tomography
The use of iterative algorithms in tomographic reconstruction always leads to a frequency adapted rate of convergence in that low frequencies are accurately reconstructed after a few iterations, while high frequencies sometimes require many more computations. In this paper, we propose to build frequency adapted (FA) algorithms based on a condition of incomplete backprojection and propose an FA simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (FA-SART) algorithm as an example. The results obtained with the FA-SART algorithm demonstrate a very fast convergence on a highly detailed phantom when compared to the original SART algorithm. Though the use of such an FA algorithm may seem difficult, we specify in which case it is relevant and propose several ways to improve the reconstruction process with FA algorithms
Iterative beam search algorithms for the permutation flowshop
We study an iterative beam search algorithm for the permutation flowshop
(makespan and flowtime minimization). This algorithm combines branching
strategies inspired by recent branch-and-bounds and a guidance strategy
inspired by the LR heuristic. It obtains competitive results, reports many
new-best-so-far solutions on the VFR benchmark (makespan minimization) and the
Taillard benchmark (flowtime minimization) without using any NEH-based
branching or iterative-greedy strategy. The source code is available at:
