AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF MOTIVATION AND FACTORS AFFECTING MOTIVATION FOR TEACHING STAFF IN PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES / COLLEGES IN VADODARA

    Get PDF
An exploratory study was conducted in the city of Vadodara, India to examine the motivation levels of teaching staff in private universities. In order to study motivation levels, the factors leading to motivation were identified as “work and environment”, “superior relation”, “recognition”, “development” and “pay and benefits”. The research found that that motivation levels of teaching staff was low. The biggest factor contributing to this was the factor “work and environment” and “pay and benefits”. It could be advisable if bodies like the UGC/AICTE or other governing agencies could actually be strict in implementing norms relating to pay and benefits as well as working conditions. Currently, the focus of these agencies is more on infrastructure and other aspects and less on the teachers. This is also a reason as to why the quality of education in these institutes is declining with passage of time

Two-Layered Model of Blood Flow through Composite Stenosed Artery

    Get PDF
In this paper a steady, axisymmetric flow, with a constricted tube has been studied. The artery has been represented by a two-layered model consisting of a core layer and a peripheral layer. It has been shown that the resistance to flow and wall shear stress increases as the peripheral layer viscosity increases. The results are compared graphically with those of previous investigators. It has been observed that the existence of peripheral layer is useful in representation of diseased arterial system

    Critical Collapse of Einstein Cluster

We observe critical phenomena in spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of Einstein Cluster. We show analytically that the collapse evolution ends either in formation of a black hole or in dispersal depending on the values of initial parameters which characterize initial density and angular momentum of the collapsing cloud. Near the threshold of black hole formation, we obtain scaling relation for the mass of the black hole and find the critical exponent value to be 3/2. We numerically confirm that there exist wide ranges of initial parameter values around the critical configuration for which the model remains shell-crossing free.Comment: Accepted for publication in Prog. Application of Nanotechnology in the Remediation of Contaminated Groundwater: A Short Review

    Get PDF
Nanotechnology is an emerging science that has shown promise in humanizing various life facets ranging from medicine to industrial materials. One such application of nanotechnology is for the remediation of contaminated groundwater. Groundwater pollution is becoming a major problem not only for the developing countries like India but also for most of the developed countries of the world. In this respect the application of nanotechnology may prove a boon to the mankind by providing an advance way for groundwater treatment. The status of groundwater quality, basic idea of nanotechnology for remediation and its practical applicability, ongoing projects and future scope in India has been reviewed through this article

Prediction of Machining Conditions Using Machine Learning

The new blast of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) shows extraordinary expectations in the forward leap of additive manufacturing (AM) process displaying, which is an important step toward determining the cycle structure-property relationship. The advancement of standard AI apparatuses in information science was primarily attributed to the extraordinarily huge amount of named informational collections, that may be obtained throughout the trials or first-rate reenactments. To completely take advantage of the force of AI in AM metal while lightening the reliance on "enormous information", everybody set an Improved Neural Network (INN) structure if the wires the two information and first actual standards include the preservation laws of energy, mass, and energies, towards the NN to illuminate the growing experiences. We suggest compressed-type strategies in the Dirichlet limit regulation in light of a Heaviside capability, that may precisely uphold the BCs and speed up the growing experience. The hotel structure was applied to two agent metal assembling issues, that includes the NIST AM-Benchmark series test. The examinations show that the Motel, owing to the extra actual information, may precisely foresee the temperature and also liquefy pool elements throughout the AM processes in metal along a moderate measure of named informational collections

ISLTranslate: Dataset for Translating Indian Sign Language

Sign languages are the primary means of communication for many hard-of-hearing people worldwide. Recently, to bridge the communication gap between the hard-of-hearing community and the rest of the population, several sign language translation datasets have been proposed to enable the development of statistical sign language translation systems. However, there is a dearth of sign language resources for the Indian sign language. This resource paper introduces ISLTranslate, a translation dataset for continuous Indian Sign Language (ISL) consisting of 31k ISL-English sentence/phrase pairs. To the best of our knowledge, it is the largest translation dataset for continuous Indian Sign Language. We provide a detailed analysis of the dataset. To validate the performance of existing end-to-end Sign language to spoken language translation systems, we benchmark the created dataset with a transformer-based model for ISL translation.Comment: Accepted at ACL 2023 Findings, 8 Page

Tensile Deformation and Failure of Thin Films of Aging Laponite Suspension

In this paper we study deformation, failure and breakage of visco-elastic thin films of aging laponite suspension under tensile deformation field. Aqueous suspension of laponite is known to undergo waiting time dependent evolution of its micro-structure, also known as aging, which is accompanied by an increase in the elastic modulus and relaxation time. In the velocity controlled tensile deformation experiments, we observed that the dependence of force and dissipated energy on velocity and initial thickness of the film is intermediate to a Newtonian fluid and a yield stress fluid. For a fixed waiting time, strain at break and dissipated energy increased with velocity, but decreased with initial thickness. With increase in age, strain at break and dissipated energy showed a decrease suggesting enhanced brittle behavior with increase in waiting time, which may be caused by restricted relaxation modes due to aging. In a force controlled mode, decrease in strain at failure at higher age also suggested enhanced brittleness with increase in waiting time. Remarkably, the constant force tensile deformation data up to the point of failure showed experimental time- aging time superposition that gave an independent estimation of relaxation time and elastic modulus dependence on age.Comment: 30 pages, 17 figure

ScriptWorld: Text Based Environment For Learning Procedural Knowledge

Text-based games provide a framework for developing natural language understanding and commonsense knowledge about the world in reinforcement learning based agents. Existing text-based environments often rely on fictional situations and characters to create a gaming framework and are far from real-world scenarios. In this paper, we introduce ScriptWorld: a text-based environment for teaching agents about real-world daily chores and hence imparting commonsense knowledge. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first interactive text-based gaming framework that consists of daily real-world human activities designed using scripts dataset. We provide gaming environments for 10 daily activities and perform a detailed analysis of the proposed environment. We develop RL-based baseline models/agents to play the games in Scriptworld. To understand the role of language models in such environments, we leverage features obtained from pre-trained language models in the RL agents. Our experiments show that prior knowledge obtained from a pre-trained language model helps to solve real-world text-based gaming environments. We release the environment via Github: https://github.com/Exploration-Lab/ScriptWorldComment: Accepted at IJCAI 2023, 26 Pages (7 main + 19 for appendix
