Tidal Destruction of The First Dark Microhalos

We point out that the usual self-similarity in cold dark matter models is broken by encounters with individual normal galactic stars on sub-pc scale. Tidal heating and stripping must have redefined the density and velocity structures of the population of the Earth-mass dark matter halos, which are likely to have been the first bound structures to form in the Universe. The disruption rate depends strongly on {\it galaxy types} and the orbital distribution of the microhalos; in the Milky Way, stochastic radial orbits are destroyed first by stars in the triaxial bulge, microhalos on non-planar retrograde orbits with large pericenters and/or apocenters survive the longest. The final microhalo distribution in the {\it solar neighborhood} is better described as a superposition of filamentry microstreams rather than as a set of discrete spherical clumps in an otherwise homogeneous medium. The American Bar Association: Its Organization, History and Achievements

The American Bar Association holds its fifty-first annual meeting in Seattle, Washington, July 25, 26, 27, 1928. This is the Semi-Centennial meeting of the Association and special preparations are being made to make the occasion notable, and it is therefore appropriate that the whole bar of Washington who have so courteously invited the National Association to Seattle this year, should know something about the organization, history and achievements of the largest and one of the oldest organizations of lawyers in the world. A considerable portion of the bar of Washington are already members of the National Association, and to them many of the things hereinafter stated are well known, but it is hoped that all reputable lawyers of the great state of Washington will be sufficiently interested in the affairs of the National Association, to join its ranks, and thereby assist in the important work which the future has in store for the advancement of the profession and the welfare of the Nation

The relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorder and religious faith: Clinical characteristics and implications for treatment

This paper explores the relationship between religion and obsessive–compulsive dis- order (OCD), with particular interest in religion’s possible influence in the development of OCD and its impact on treatment outcome. The paper begins with a review of theoretical and research literatures concerning religious involvement, research evidence linking religious involvement and physical and mental health, and theoretical linkages supporting both positive and negative religious effects on health. Following this, we provide a general overview and description of OCD and information concerning the prevalence and incidence of religiously based OCD. Next, extant research linking religion and OCD is presented. Information relevant to the clinical treatment of OCD with religious content is discussed. The Gender Wage Gap in the New Millennium: An Analysis of the United States 2000-2020

This study examines the earnings differential in each year from 2000-2020 to determine if the gender pay gap has changed in recent years. We estimate average weekly wages for full-time, year-round workers for men and women to determine women’s wages relative to men’s wages for each year. Our results show that although average earnings for women relative to men have increased since 2000 when adjusting for individual worker characteristics, we find little progress in shrinking the gender wage gap. This result is even more discouraging since women’s education rates have increased at a significantly higher rate during this time

Health, disability, psychological well-being, and depressive symptoms among older African American women

This study examines the demographic correlates of psychological well-being (i.e., happiness and life satisfaction) and mental health (i.e., depressive symptoms and serious psychological distress) among older African American women. Addition- ally, the relationships between self-rated physical and oral health and disability and psychological well-being and mental health are explored. Analyses are based on a nationally representative sample of older African American women from the National Survey of American Life. Results indicate that psychological well-being (i.e., life satisfaction and happiness) and mental health (i.e., depressive symptoms and serious psychological distress) are associated with specific demographic factors. In addition, self-rated health and limited mobility due to disability exerted significant influences on psychological well-being, depressive symptoms, and psychological distress.
