The Role of NKG2D in Vitiligo
Vitiligo is an acquired multifactorial disease that affects melanocytes and results in skin depigmentation. In this review, we examine the role of cells stress and self-reactive T cells responses. Given the canonical and non-canonical functions of NKG2D, such as authenticating stressed target and enhance TCR signaling, we examine how melanocyte stress leads to the expression of ligands that are recognized by the activating receptor NKG2D, and how its signaling results in the turning of T cells against self (melanocyte suicide by proxy). We also discuss how this initiation phase is followed by T cell perpetuation, as NKG2D signaling results in self-sustained long-lasting T cells, with improved cytolytic properties
Fil: Acevedo, José A. Impact on the work of clinical pharmacist at the pharmacotherapy management of critically ill patient: Local experience in a clinical hospital
Context: The complexity in critical patient management and polypharmacy, raise the need for support from a clinical pharmacist to optimize drug therapies.
Aims: To evaluate the clinical pharmacist participation in an Adult Intensive Care Unit in a local context where the practice is not well established.
Methods: The study was conducted in a teaching hospital. Consisted of two stages a retrospective in which were collected of pharmacotherapy follow-up during a period of two years and a prospective phase of observational and cross-sectional character, which picked up the clinical history of patients and pharmaceutical interventions. These pharmaceutical interventions were evaluated by two intensive care physicians and two external pharmacist, using a default score to each one of these, the degree of concordance was obtained using the kappa coefficient.
Results: In the retrospective phase were collected 182 patients, who were performed a total of 750 interventions, of which 99.7% was accepted by physician. In the prospective phase, were analyzed 53 patients that involved 263 pharmaceutical interventions with 96.6% of acceptance on the part of the medical staff. The degree of correlation of the interventions was κ = 0.61 between two physicians of the unit, and κ = 0.71 between two external pharmacists.
Conclusions: The contribution that a clinical pharmacist can provide in an adult intensive care has a positive impact on the treatment of patients with a high percentage of acceptances on the part of the medical team

What Characteristics Do the Firms have That Go Beyond Compliance with Regulation in Environmental Protection? A Multiple Discriminant Analysis
This paper is focused on analyzing the characteristics of firms that have environmental performance beyond the requirements of regulation in environmental protection. To identify such characteristics, we propose a value and context model building on environmental paradigms as conceptualized by Dryzek’s environmental discourse theory. Using multiple discriminant analysis (MDA) to analyze data collected from a multi-respondent survey of Argentinean polluting firms, we identify distinctive characteristics of firms going beyond regulation and firms that do not comply with regulation. In particular, comparing with other five environmental discourses, endorsement of green growth is evaluated in its connection with compliance patterns. We find that supporting green growth discourse (also known as ecological modernization) is one of the characteristics of those firms that go beyond compliance in their environmental performance
