The Practice of Dyadic Interviewing: Strengths, Limitations and Key Decisions
Dyadic interviews, in which two participants are interviewed together, are becoming more popular in qualitative research, but are much less discussed in the methodological literature than individual and group forms. In this article, we consider the nature and value of dyadic interviews, recognizing them as active, relational encounters, shaped by what all parties bring to them, and infused with issues of power. Drawing on our research on altruistic motivation which involved 47 dyadic interviews conducted with 94 individuals and post-interview feedback from participants, we demonstrate the strengths and point out some of the potential pitfalls associated with the dyadic format, focusing on the practical and ethical issues in defining and recruiting dyads and the practice of conducting such interviews. We provide recommendations for researchers interested in using this method, and suggest research priorities for the further development of dyadic interviewing.

Analysis of β-Convergence. From Traditional Cross-Section Model to Dynamic Panel Model
Zakres czasowy analizy obejmuje lata 1995–2009 (dane roczne). The aim of the paper is to discuss the course of development of methodology of economic convergence analyses, which points up the necessity of taking into consideration spatial connections among regions in regional growth models. It presents empirical models of β-convergence concerning the economic growth of European regions using various methodological conceptions. In the paper the models offered by spatial econometrics are recommended. The empirical data refer to per capita GDP across the European Union regions at a NUTS-2 level over the period 1995–2009 (annual data)
The Significance of Distance Between Stock Exchanges Undergoing the Process of Convergence: an Analysis of Selected World Stock Exchanges During the Period of 2004–2012
The paper concerns the convergence of selected world stock exchanges from the point of view of their development in the context of geographical and economic distance between them. It presents the methodological approach which points up the necessity of taking into account spatial and economic connections among stock markets in convergence analyses. The research includes 46 largest trading floors analyzed in the period of 2004–2012. The empirical data refer to six diagnostic variables acknowledged as the important determinants of the development of stock markets
MORPHOMETRICS, OVARY STRUCTURE, and PARASITES of CHIASMODON HARTELI (ACTINOPTERYGII: TRACHINIFORMES: CHIASMODONTIDAE) FROM OFF SOUTH-EASTERN GREENLAND
Background. Chiasmodon harteli Melo, 2009 is a rarely captured deepwater fish. Even though the taxonomy of this genus is fairly well resolved, very little is known about the biology of individual Chiasmodon species. the objective of the presently reported study was to supplement new knowledge on C. harteli.Materials and methods. A single female specimen of C. harteli was captured on 1 July 2008 off the south-eastern coast of Greenland during bottom trawling at the depth of 1000 m. Morphometric and meristic data were collected and absolute values of the measurements [to the nearest 0.1 mm] were also related to the fish standard length and head length. To determine the gonad maturity stage, ovaries were fixed in Bouin's solution and buffered formalin (4%), dehydrated, embedded in paraffin wax, cut into 5-mu m histological sections and finally stained with haematoxylin and eosin. Parasitological examinations covered the skin, eyes, mouth, nasal cavities, gills, gonads, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys, peritoneum, and muscles. Parasites recovered were preserved in 70% ethanol.Results. Detailed morphometrics, including metric and meristic data, as well as dentition formula, are provided. the individual studied was a mature female. the ovaries were in stage I (Merson scale) (mature, featuring oocytes in early vitellogenesis and oogonies). the mean oocyte cell diameter was 84.62 +/- 4.67 mu m, while the range: 45.05-114.08 mu m. the fish hosted only one parasite species-Anisakis simplex (Nematoda; encysted L3 larvae). the stomach of the specimen studied was enlarged, although completely empty.Conclusion. This is the first substantiated record of this species since its original description in 2009. the structure of female gonads of C. harteli was described here for the first time. the acquired data on the gonadal development may shed new light on the species' reproduction and may help to approximate the spawning time. the nematode A. simplex were reported herein for the first time in a Chiasmodon.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Zachodniopomorski Uniwersytet Technol, Katedra Hydrobiol Ichtiol & Biotechnol, Wydzial Nauk Zywnosci & Rybactwa, PL-71550 Szczecin, PolandUniversidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Ciencias Exatas & Terra, BR-09972270 Diadema, SP, BrazilUniversidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Ciencias Exatas & Terra, BR-09972270 Diadema, SP, BrazilFAPESP: 2010/50322-6Web of Scienc
Physical activity cardio-surgical patients
Health Behaviors are one of the most important factors that determine health. Physical activity plays an important role in the prevention of diseases i.e. hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes type 2, stroke and overweight and obesity. In the study this in the clinic of cardiac surgery University Hospital # 1 in Bydgoszcz in the period from October to November 2016 uses the International physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ). Encouraging patients coronary artery bypass grafting for physical activity before the procedure should be to educate patients about the importance of traffic before the operations and promote health promoting behaviors i.e.. correct diet and maintain a proper body weight, control blood pressure and glucose levels, and appropriate form traffic adapted to the needs and capabilities of the patient
AMO perspectives on the well-being of neurodivergent human capital
Purpose:
Existing management research and management practices frequently overlook the relationship between the above-average human capital of highly functioning neurodivergent employees, their subjective well-being in the workplace and performance outcomes. This paper calls for greater attention to the hidden human capital associated with neurodiversity by mainstreaming implementation of neurodiversity-friendly policies and practices.
Design/methodology/approach:
Drawing on the ability, motivation and opportunity (AMO) framework, this conceptual paper integrates research on employee neurodiversity and well-being to provide a model of HR-systems level and human capital development policies, systems and practices for neurodivergent minorities in the workplace.
Findings:
This paper illustrates that workplace neurodiversity, like biodiversity, is a natural phenomenon. For subjective individual psychological and organisational well-being, neurodivergent employees require an empathetic culture and innovative talent management approaches that respect cognitive differences.
Practical implications:
The case is made for neurodivergent human capital development and policy-makers to promote inclusive employment and decent work in a context of relatively high unemployment for neurodivergent individuals.
Originality/value:
This paper extends current debates on organisational equality, diversity and inclusion to a consideration of workplace well-being for highly functioning neurodivergent workers. It calls for more equitable and empathetic approaches to investing in employees with neurodevelopmental and cognitive disabilities
