Association between Social Integration, Social Exclusion, and Vaccination Behavior among Internal Migrants in China: A Cross-Sectional Study
Cross-sectional studies about the association between social integration, social exclusion, and vaccination behavior among internal migrants in China are lacking. In this study, we aimed to explore the association between the influenza vaccination behavior and social integration as well as social exclusion in China based on a cross-sectional study. We included 12,467 participants aged 15 years old or above from the 2017 Migrant Population Dynamic Monitoring Survey (MDMS). We used univariate analysis and logistic regression models to access the association between social integration, exclusion status, and influenza vaccination rates. Results suggested that the association between social integration and the vaccination rate was significantly positive. Moving between different districts impact on people’s mental health and their health performance. Significant association between influenza vaccination behavior and education attainment, income status, health record, and awareness of basic public health services program was reported. Therefore, in order to reduce the incidence of influenza disease and increase the vaccination rate, policymakers and the public should promote social integration for internal migrants. Meanwhile, our finding also implies possible strategies to promote COVID-19 vaccination
Hypoxia Pathway in Osteoporosis: Laboratory Data for Clinical Prospects
The hypoxia pathway not only regulates the organism to adapt to the special environment, such as short-term hypoxia in the plateau under normal physiological conditions, but also plays an important role in the occurrence and development of various diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis. Bone, as a special organ of the body, is in a relatively low oxygen environment, in which the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-related molecules maintains the necessary conditions for bone development. Osteoporosis disease with iron overload endangers individuals, families and society, and bone homeostasis disorder is linked to some extent with hypoxia pathway abnormality, so it is urgent to clarify the hypoxia pathway in osteoporosis to guide clinical medication efficiently. Based on this background, using the keywords “hypoxia/HIF, osteoporosis, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes, iron/iron metabolism”, a matching search was carried out through the Pubmed and Web Of Science databases, then the papers related to this review were screened, summarized and sorted. This review summarizes the relationship and regulation between the hypoxia pathway and osteoporosis (also including osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes) by arranging the references on the latest research progress, introduces briefly the application of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in osteoporosis symptoms (mechanical stimulation induces skeletal response to hypoxic signal activation), hypoxic-related drugs used in iron accumulation/osteoporosis model study, and also puts forward the prospects of future research
Optimal sequential relay-remote selection and computation offloading in mobile edge computing
In this paper, we investigate a MEC relay-assisted system with multiple relay nodes (RNs) and multiple remote servers (RSs), where both the selections of best RN and RS are considered. In order to explore the diversity of both RNs and RSs, we propose a sequential relay-remote selection and offloading strategy by taking the local computing, relay computing and remote computing into consideration. The sequential relay-remote selection strategy specifies when to stop server discovery and carry out computation offloading. The offloading strategy tells what are the optimal portions of task executed locally, at RN and at RS. Under such framework, we seek to minimize the total energy consumption coming from server detection, data transmission and data execution. We formulate this problem as a stochastic sequential decision-making problem and dynamic programming is applied to obtain the optimal strategy. The performance of our proposed strategy is evaluated using simulation results. It is found that the energy consumption can be reduced by jointly considering the design of sequential relay-remote selection and offloading ratio optimization. This work is supported by Natural Science Funds of China (No. 61701213), Natural Science Funds of Fujian (No. 2020J01813)
Analysis of ABO serological phenotype and molecular biology results of 256 blood donors with ambiguous blood group
Objective To correctly identify the blood group of ABO and study its molecular biological characteristics. Methods Blood samples from blood donors with discrepancies in forward and reverse typing using the microplate method were subjected to both saline tube agglutination test for serological identification and polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primers (PCR-SSP) for genotyping. Additionally, direct sequencing of exons 1 to 7 of the ABO gene was performed on some donor samples to analyze their blood phenotype, genotype and gene sequence. Results For 256 samples showing discrepancy between forward and reverse typing in microwell method, 119 were identified as normal ABO blood types, 90 were weakened ABO antibodies and 47 were ABO subtypes by serology tube test. According to the PCR-SSP genotyping test, 233 of 256 (91.02%) were consistent with serological phenotype and genotype, 17 of 256 (6.64%) were inconsistent, and 6 samples can′t read genotype based on the kit result typing table.A total of 17 genotypes were identified in 250 samples as AO1 in 56, AO2 in 58, AA in 50, BO1 in 31, BO2 in 17, BB in 8, O1O1 in 2, O1O2 in 7, AB in 13, AO4 in 1, A205O2 in 1, A205A in 1, A201A in 1, O1O4 in 1, O2O2 in 1, A201B in 1 and A205B in 1. Sequencing of exons 1 to 7 of the ABO gene was carried out in 78 samples, and 29 ABO alleles were detected, seven of which were common alleles (*A101, *A102, *A104, *B101, *O01, *O02, *O04), 22 of which were rare alleles (*A201, *A205, *Ax01, *Ax03, *Ax13, *Ax19, *Ax22, *Ael10, *B305, *Bel03, *Bel06/*Bx02, *Bw07, *Bw12, *Bw17, *Bw37, *O05, *O26, *O61, *B(A)04, *B(A)07, *cisAB01 and*cisAB01var). In addition, six rare allele mutation sites were identified (c.101A>G; c. 103_106delG; c. 146_147insGC; c. 259G>T; c. 322C>T; c. 932T>C). Conclusion The identification of ambiguous ABO blood group requires the combination of serological testing and molecular biological examination to correctly identify the blood type and ensure the safety of clinical blood transfusion
Vaccination rates and determinants of nine recommended vaccines among migrants in China: a nationwide cross-sectional study
In the past 70 years, in order to strengthen disease prevention and improve people’s health, China had introduced a series of vaccine policies. However, compared with the permanent population, studies on the vaccination situation of the migrants were lacking. This study aimed to evaluate the vaccination rates of nine recommended vaccines (HepB, HepA, FIn, DTaP, JE, Rab, MPSV, HF, and TIG vaccine) among migrants and related determinants. We used nationwide data from the 2017 Migrant Population Dynamic Monitoring Survey (MDMS) to analyze the vaccination rates of migrants in terms of gender, age, marital status, household registration, education, health level, etc. The total vaccination rate of nine recommended vaccines was 64.8% (6488/10013). Education level and health level were positively correlated with vaccination rates, but age was negatively correlated with vaccination rates. Migrants from urban regions had a higher vaccination rate than those from rural regions. Among the nine recommended vaccines, HepB vaccination rate was the highest (59.08%), while HF vaccination rate was the lowest (4.08%). Combined with policies and demographic characteristics, the relationship between age, household registration, health level, education level and vaccination were studied. The findings suggested that more attention should be given to vaccination of migrants, and the monitoring of vaccination of such groups should be strengthened through information technology
Adh enhances Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae pathogenicity by binding to OR5M11 and activating p38 which induces apoptosis of PAMs and IL-8 release
Members of the Trimeric Autotransporter Adhesin (TAA) family play a crucial role in the adhesion of Gram-negative pathogens to host cells, but the immunopathogenesis of TAAs remains unknown. Our previous studies demonstrated that Adh from Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (A. pleuropneumoniae) is required for full bacterial pathogenicity. Alveolar macrophages are the first line of defense against respiratory infections. This study compared the interactions between porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs) and wild-type A. pleuropneumoniae (5b WT) or an Adh-deletion strain (5b Delta Adh) via gene microarray, immunoprecipitation and other technologies. We found that Adh was shown to interact with the PAMs membrane protein OR5M11, an olfactory receptor, resulting in the high-level secretion of IL-8 by activation of p38 MAPK signaling pathway. Subsequently, PAMs apoptosis via the activation of the Fax and Bax signaling pathways was observed, followed by activation of caspases 8, 9, and 3. The immunological pathogenic roles of Adh were also confirmed in both murine and piglets infectious models in vivo. These results identify a novel immunological strategy for TAAs to boost the pathogenicity of A. pleuropneumoniae. Together, these datas reveal the high versatility of the Adh protein as a virulence factor and provide novel insight into the immunological pathogenic role of TAA
