Stock return is influenced by information release, dissemination, and acceptance. Rumor clarification is supposed to reduce asymmetric information and abnormal stock return. In this research, we extracted 4134 rumor-clarification pairs from 687,429 postings in social media, and quantified the language used in these messages, along with online firm behaviors, to study the effect of clarifications on stock returns. Our findings include (1) the digitalized rumor clarification messages affect the abnormal returns of the relevant stocks; (2) Such influence can be quantified and measured by the emotion polarity of rumor clarification; (3) Firm’s online clarification behaviors may have no influence on abnormal returns except for the total response number of rumor clarification for a listed company. In particular, investors prefer to trust the clarifications from the companies with frequent online interactive engagements

C2H N=1-0 and N2H+ J=1-0 observations of Planck Galactic cold clumps

A survey of C2H N=1-0 and N2H+ J=1-0 toward Planck Galactic cold clumps (PGCCs) was performed using the Purple Mountain Observatory's 13.7 m telescope. C2H and N2H+ were chosen to study the chemical evolutionary states of PGCCs. Among 121 observed molecular cores associated with PGCCs, 71 and 58 are detected with C2H N=1-0 and N2H+ J=1-0, respectively. The detected lines of most sources can be fitted with a single component with compatible Vlsr and line widths, which confirms that these PGCC cores are very cold (with gas temperatures 9-21 K) and quiescent while still dominanted by turbulence. The ratio between the column densities of C2H and N2H+ (N(C2H)/N(N2H+)) is found to be a good tracer for the evolutionary states of PGCC cores. Gas-grain chemical model can reproduce the decreasing trend of N(C2H)/N(N2H+) as a function of time. The cores with the lowest abundances of N2H+ (X[N2H+] < 10^{-10}) are the youngest, and have nearly constant abundances of C2H. In evolved cores with X[N2H+] ~ 1E-9, abundances of C2H drop quickly as the exhaustion of carbon atoms. Although these PGCC cores are in different evolutionary states, they are all quite young ( N(N2H+). Mapping observations are carried out toward 20 PGCC cores. The PGCC cores in Cepheus have lower N(C2H)/N(N2H+) and larger line widths compared with those in Taurus. This implies that PGCC cores in Taurus are less chemically evolved than those in Cepheus.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figures, 5 table

The solution structure of the unbound IgG Fc receptor CD64 resembles its crystal structure:Implications for function

FcγRI (CD64) is the only high-affinity Fcγ receptor found on monocytes, macrophages, eosinophils, neutrophils and dendritic cells. It binds immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody-antigen complexes at its Fc region to trigger key immune responses. CD64 contains three immunoglobulin-fold extracellular domains (D1, D2 and D3) and a membrane-spanning region. Despite the importance of CD64, no solution structure for this is known to date. To investigate this, we used analytical ultracentrifugation, small-angle X-ray scattering, and atomistic modelling. Analytical ultracentrifugation revealed that CD64 was monomeric with a sedimentation coefficient s020,w of 2.53 S, together with some dimer. Small-angle X-ray scattering showed that its radius of gyration RG was 3.3–3.4 nm and increased at higher concentrations to indicate low dimerization. Monte Carlo modelling implemented in the SASSIE-web package generated 279,162 physically-realistic trial CD64 structures. From these, the scattering best-fit models at the lowest measured concentrations that minimised dimers revealed that the D1, D2 and D3 domains were structurally similar to those seen in three CD64 crystal structures, but showed previously unreported flexibility between D1, D2 and D3. Despite the limitations of the scattering data, the superimposition of the CD64 solution structures onto crystal structures of the IgG Fc-CD64 complex showed that the CD64 domains do not sterically clash with the IgG Fc region, i.e. the solution structure of CD64 was sufficiently compact to allow IgG to bind to its high-affinity Fcγ receptor. This improved understanding may result in novel approaches to inhibit CD64 function, and opens the way for the solution study of the full-length CD64-IgG complex.</p

Stellar Parameters of Main Sequence Turn-off Star Candidates Observed with the LAMOST and Kepler

Main sequence turn-off (MSTO) stars have advantages as indicators of Galactic evolution since their ages could be robustly estimated from atmospheric parameters. Hundreds of thousands of MSTO stars have been selected from the LAMOST Galactic sur- vey to study the evolution of the Galaxy, and it is vital to derive accurate stellar parameters. In this work, we select 150 MSTO star candidates from the MSTO stars sample of Xiang that have asteroseismic parameters and determine accurate stellar parameters for these stars combing the asteroseismic parameters deduced from the Kepler photometry and atmospheric parameters deduced from the LAMOST spectra. With this sample, we examine the age deter- mination as well as the contamination rate of the MSTO stars sample. A comparison of age between this work and Xiang shows a mean difference of 0.53 Gyr (7%) and a dispersion of 2.71 Gyr (28%). The results show that 79 of the candidates are MSTO stars, while the others are contaminations from either main sequence or sub-giant stars. The contamination rate for the oldest stars is much higher than that for the younger stars. The main cause for the high contamination rate is found to be the relatively large systematic bias in the LAMOST surface gravity estimates.Comment: accepted by RA

Notch signaling regulates adipose browning and energy metabolism

Beige adipocytes in white adipose tissue (WAT) are similar to classical brown adipocytes in that they can burn lipids to produce heat. Thus, an increase in beige adipocyte content in WAT browning would raise energy expenditure and reduce adiposity. Here we report that adipose-specific inactivation of Notch1 or its signaling mediator Rbpj in mice results in browning of WAT and elevated expression of uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp1), a key regulator of thermogenesis. Consequently, as compared to wild-type mice, Notch mutants exhibit elevated energy expenditure, better glucose tolerance and improved insulin sensitivity and are more resistant to high fat diet-induced obesity. By contrast, adipose-specific activation of Notch1 leads to the opposite phenotypes. At the molecular level, constitutive activation of Notch signaling inhibits, whereas Notch inhibition induces, Ppargc1a and Prdm16 transcription in white adipocytes. Notably, pharmacological inhibition of Notch signaling in obese mice ameliorates obesity, reduces blood glucose and increases Ucp1 expression in white fat. Therefore, Notch signaling may be therapeutically targeted to treat obesity and type 2 diabetes

Capacitive Properties and Structure of RuOâ‚‚-HfOâ‚‚ Films Prepared by Thermal Decomposition Method

Binary RuO2-HfO2 films on Ti substrates were prepared by a thermal decomposition method. cyclic voltammetric and charge/discharge properties of the RuO2-HfO2 electrodes were characterized. It was determined that the incorporation of HfO2 into RuO 2 greatly improved the capacitive properties of the material. The RuO2-HfO2 electrodes showed excellent cyclic stability, with no decay in charge capability during 1000 CV cycles in acidic solution. A nominal content of 50 mol% RuO2 and 50 mol% HfO2 gave the highest specific capacitance of 789.3 F/g (RuO2). The excellent capacitive properties and stability were related to the hydrous amorphous mixed-oxides formed in the film. This work proves that high capacitive performance of RuO2-based electrode materials can be obtained by thermal decomposition, even with the retained chloride in the film
