    Attitudinal, Normative, and Resource Factors Affecting Communication Scholars' Data Sharing: A Replication Study

    This study explores the factors affecting communication scholars' data-sharing intentions, a critical component of reproducibility and replicability in open science. We replicate Harper and Kim's (2018) study, which employs the theory of planned behavior to demonstrate the impacts of attitudinal, normative, and resource factors. Specifically, their original research examines data-sharing practices among psychologists, and our replication aims to reinforce their findings within the communication field. Data from a survey of Chinese communication scholars (N = 351) are analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings indicate that perceived benefit and perceived risk significantly influence the attitudes of communication scholars towards sharing their data, positively and negatively, respectively. Additionally, attitudes, subjective norms, journal pressure, and the conditions facilitating data sharing have a significant positive impact on communication scholars' behavioral intentions. Perceived effort inversely affects attitudes toward data sharing but does not impact behavioral intentions. This study provides a theoretical framework for understanding data-sharing intentions and behaviors in the open science movement. The role of this research as a replication study serves as a compelling demonstration of scientific inquiry. Practical suggestions, such as fostering open dialog, institutional incentives, and cooperation between different actors to increase communication scholars' data-sharing intentions, and recommendations for carrying out replication and reproduction studies, are discussed. Finally, we judiciously reflect on the methodological limitations of our research and highlight directions for future research on open science

    Pulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma accompanied by bilateral multiple calcified nodules in lung

    Pulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (PEH) is a rare vascular tumor. It can present either as one solitary nodule or bilateral multiple nodules, usually without calcification. We describe here an unusual case of PEH in a 42-year-old female with a 6.0 cm dominant mass along with bilateral multiple calcified small nodules measuring 0.2-1.0 cm in diameter with a 25-year plus followup history. Overall histologic findings of the solitary tumor accorded with conventional PEH. While multiple calcified small nodules were composed predominantly of intra-alveolar homogeneously eosinophilic matrix, and only a few bland small cells were embedded in it. This lesion has never been reported in the literature. After comprehensive analysis of morphology, radiography, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry and differential diagnoses, PEH presenting multiple calcified small nodules was confirmed

    A User-Centered Concept Mining System for Query and Document Understanding at Tencent

    Concepts embody the knowledge of the world and facilitate the cognitive processes of human beings. Mining concepts from web documents and constructing the corresponding taxonomy are core research problems in text understanding and support many downstream tasks such as query analysis, knowledge base construction, recommendation, and search. However, we argue that most prior studies extract formal and overly general concepts from Wikipedia or static web pages, which are not representing the user perspective. In this paper, we describe our experience of implementing and deploying ConcepT in Tencent QQ Browser. It discovers user-centered concepts at the right granularity conforming to user interests, by mining a large amount of user queries and interactive search click logs. The extracted concepts have the proper granularity, are consistent with user language styles and are dynamically updated. We further present our techniques to tag documents with user-centered concepts and to construct a topic-concept-instance taxonomy, which has helped to improve search as well as news feeds recommendation in Tencent QQ Browser. We performed extensive offline evaluation to demonstrate that our approach could extract concepts of higher quality compared to several other existing methods. Our system has been deployed in Tencent QQ Browser. Results from online A/B testing involving a large number of real users suggest that the Impression Efficiency of feeds users increased by 6.01% after incorporating the user-centered concepts into the recommendation framework of Tencent QQ Browser.Comment: Accepted by KDD 201

    Contextualization: A Path to Chinese Traditional News Media's Integration Into Social Media

    Meyrowitz's media context theory proposes that new media and their contexts will lead to new behaviors. This article adopts media context theory as a framework and utilizes a textual analysis approach to analyze what Meyrowitz termed middle region behaviors and the contextualization strategies of the traditional Chinese news media (People's Daily) on the social media platform Weibo. The findings reveal three of People's Daily's Weibo news' innovation strategies: the middle regionalization of news contexts (live news, vlog news, chatbox news); personalized production of important news (Weibo commentary, user-produced news); and equal dialogue with the public (daily greetings, holiday greetings, popularizing science). The study also indicates that traditional news media can utilize social media to consolidate communication effectiveness and reconstruct their credibility while actively participating in social governance. In light of these findings, we think that the "contextualization" strategies employed by People's Daily on the Weibo platform offer meaningful possibilities for traditional news organizations' integration into social media, such as exploring innovative approaches to news presentation, emphasizing audience interaction, appropriately providing "non-news content" for the audience, and maintaining a commitment to objectivity and fairness in news reporting

The measurement of female vulva structure is crucial for aesthetic standards and surgical planning. Past research gathered labia minora measurements from various countries, races, and age groups. As women’s expectations for vulva appearance increase, the demand for labia minora plastic surgery rises, emphasizing the importance of safety and effectiveness.     Non-Surgical Treatment Methodologies and Prevention for Malignant Melanoma

    Melanocytes in the skin and other organs generate the tumor known as malignant melanoma (MM). It has a high degree of malignancy, a deprived prognosis, and a propensity for local recurrence and distant metastasis. Although there have been tremendous advancements in MM management choices over the past ten years, there are still a dearth of clinically viable therapy alternatives and no internationally accepted treatment standard. The prognosis of MM patients has recently improved thanks to the development of immunotherapy and targeted therapy.     Factors Affecting Trust in Chinese Digital Journalism: Approach Based on Folk Theories

    Trust in online digital news has become a significant concern affecting social cohesion in China. Under the framework of folk theories, we interviewed urban and rural residents' perceptions and imaginations of digital news credibility in China's digital journalism environment. The study finds that digital media giants in China are utilised by both urban and rural residents. Regarding the behaviour of news avoidance, scepticism of digital news accounts for only a tiny fraction of the reasons held by news avoiders. Chinese urban and rural residents have similar perceptions about the impact of news forms, quality of information, and individual stances on digital news, while rural residents show uncertainty about the transparency of news production, which may be related to their education level and media literacy. The relationship between recommendation algorithms and news trust is overlooked by respondents. In addition, news seekers are more likely to display herd behaviours, which may mislead their judgment of news credibility. News avoiders may refuse to consume news because of their distaste for China's digital news atmosphere, such as the ubiquity of unpleasant emotions, preconceived opinions, and attention-grabbing clickbait headlines
