NLO QCD corrections to Single Top and W associated production at the LHC with forward detector acceptances

In this paper we study the Single Top and W boson associated photoproduction via the main reaction pppγppW±t+Y\rm pp\rightarrow p\gamma p\rightarrow pW^{\pm}t+Y at the 14 TeV Large Hadron Collider (LHC) up to next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD level assuming a typical LHC multipurpose forward detector. We use the Five-Flavor-Number Schemes (5FNS) with massless bottom quark assumption in the whole calculation. Our results show that the QCD NLO corrections can reduce the scale uncertainty. The typical K-factors are in the range of 1.15 to 1.2 which lead to the QCD NLO corrections of 15% to 20% correspond to the leading-order (LO) predictions with our chosen parameters.Comment: 41pages, 12figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1106.2890 by other author

Menin prevents liver steatosis through co-activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha

AbstractFatty liver is strongly associated with metabolic syndrome. Here, we show that the impaired hepatic expression of menin, the product of the MEN1 (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1) tumor suppressor gene, represents a common feature of several fatty liver mouse models. The liver specific ablation of MEN1 gene expression in healthy mice induced hepatic steatosis under high-fat dietary conditions. Moreover, overexpression of menin in livers of steatotic db/db mice reduced liver triglyceride accumulation. At the molecular level, we found that menin acts synergistically with the nuclear receptor PPARα to control gene expression of fatty acid oxidation. Collectively, these data suggest a crucial role for menin as an integrator of the complex transcriptional network controlling hepatic steatosis.Structured summary of protein interactionsMenin physically interacts with PPAR alpha by anti tag coimmunoprecipitation (View Interaction: 1, 2)

Experimental research on evolving rules of segregation ice in artificial frozen soil

AbstractThe foundation of frost heave controlling is the research on evolving rules of segregation ice. The evolving rules of segregation ice have been researched systematically by one-dimension freezing experiments. The technique of dynamic photograph has been applied in research for the first time. The research on segregation ice indicated that three phases can be divided according to the change of temperature field: few segregation ices appeared in the first phases, several thin and discontinuous segregation ices appeared in the second phases, segregation ice evolvement was mainly the growth of final ice lens in the third phase when the freezing front tended to be stable

Hypoglycemic and Hypolipidemic Effects of Ethanolic Extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. Root on Normal and Diabetic Mice

The present study investigated the insulin sensitivity, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic activities of ethanolic extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. root (EEM) in normal and diabetic mice. After induction of diabetes with streptozotocin, both normal and diabetic mice were singly or repeatedly for 28 days administrated with EEM at doses of 2, 4, 8 g/kg, respectively. Before induction of diabetes, mice were administrated with EEM at doses of 2, 4, 8 g/kg for 14 days and were injected with streptozotocin and continued on EEM administration for another 28 days. Both after and before induction of diabetes, repeated administration with 4, 8 g/kg EEM continually lowered blood glucose level, decreased serum insulin level and improved insulin sensitivity index, and lowered serum total cholesterol, triglyceride levels and triglyceride content in liver and skeletal muscle, and increased glycogen content in these tissues; but repeated administration had no influence on those indexes of normal mice. Single administration with EEM (4, 8 g/kg) showed hypoglycemic effect in oral glucose tolerance test in normal and diabetic mice. Single administration with EEM had no hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects on normal and diabetic mice. These results suggest that EEM possesses both potential insulin sensitivity, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic effects on diabetes

pTSE: A Multi-model Ensemble Method for Probabilistic Time Series Forecasting

Various probabilistic time series forecasting models have sprung up and shown remarkably good performance. However, the choice of model highly relies on the characteristics of the input time series and the fixed distribution that the model is based on. Due to the fact that the probability distributions cannot be averaged over different models straightforwardly, the current time series model ensemble methods cannot be directly applied to improve the robustness and accuracy of forecasting. To address this issue, we propose pTSE, a multi-model distribution ensemble method for probabilistic forecasting based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM). pTSE only takes off-the-shelf outputs from member models without requiring further information about each model. Besides, we provide a complete theoretical analysis of pTSE to prove that the empirical distribution of time series subject to an HMM will converge to the stationary distribution almost surely. Experiments on benchmarks show the superiority of pTSE overall member models and competitive ensemble methods.Comment: The 32nd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI 2023

Flow Boiling Pressure Drop for R410A and RL32H in Multi-channel Tube

This paper introduced a test facility to conduct both flow boiling and condensation test in a multi-channel tube, including structure designs in test section to maintain good and stable flow regime in multi-channels. It supports flow boiling and condensing testing at the same time. The refrigerant cycle was driven by a gear pump, liquid refrigerant flows from the gear pump, passes through an electrical pre-heater, evaporator and post-heater, then flow through water/glycol bath pre-condenser, condenser and post-condenser. Experimental data for pure R410A, R410A and lubricant RL32H mixture pressure drop in flow boiling is presented and analyzed in this paper. Inlet vapor quality was changing at 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 to 0.8 with 0.2 quality increase along the tube, mass fraction of lubricant was changing from 0%, 1%, 3% to 5%, and mass velocity of the pure and mixture varied from 100 to 700 kg s-1 m-2. The experiments have been conducted for average saturation temperature at 5ºC. Literatures on two phase flow boiling pressure drop for both pure refrigerant and refrigerant mixtures are carefully reviewed, popular published correlations are used in this study to evaluate test data. New two phase flow boiling pressure drop correlations for pure refrigerant and mixtures inside multi-channel tube are proposed. Some published data are used to validate new correlations
