Representation Selective Self-distillation and wav2vec 2.0 Feature Exploration for Spoof-aware Speaker Verification
Text-to-speech and voice conversion studies are constantly improving to the
extent where they can produce synthetic speech almost indistinguishable from
bona fide human speech. In this regrad, the importance of countermeasures (CM)
against synthetic voice attacks of the automatic speaker verification (ASV)
systems emerges. Nonetheless, most end-to-end spoofing detection networks are
black box systems, and the answer to what is an effective representation for
finding artifacts still remains veiled. In this paper, we examine which feature
space can effectively represent synthetic artifacts using wav2vec 2.0, and
study which architecture can effectively utilize the space. Our study allows us
to analyze which attribute of speech signals is advantageous for the CM
systems. The proposed CM system achieved 0.31% equal error rate (EER) on
ASVspoof 2019 LA evaluation set for the spoof detection task. We further
propose a simple yet effective spoofing aware speaker verification (SASV)
methodology, which takes advantage of the disentangled representations from our
countermeasure system. Evaluation performed with the SASV Challenge 2022
database show 1.08% of SASV EER. Quantitative analysis shows that using the
explored feature space of wav2vec 2.0 advantages both spoofing CM and SASV.Comment: Submitted to Interspeech 202
Atypical Development of Children from Multicultural Families in Korean Rural Areas
AbstractThe aim of this study was to explore overall developmental status of young children from multicultural families. 290 kindergarten children were involved (147 from multicultural families and 143 from typical Korean families). The result indicated significantly lower levels of performance on overall development of children from multicultural families than children from typical Korean families. It also suggested that delayed language development of children from multicultural families negatively affected their cognitive development, which then influenced higher aggression indirectly through their low self-respect and low self-control. These findings indicated latent atypical development of children from multicultural families
Favored serum albumin level and ICF volume after use of 1.1% aminoacid based peritoneal dialysis(PD) solution
Aminoacid based PD solution (AAD) has been shown to induce positive nitrogen balance and improve nutritional markers of malnourished patients. But its effcets on body fluid composition and various nutritional markers are contradictory. Nutritional markers may influenced by patient's ECF volume status. So we evaluate effects of AAD on nutritional markers and body composition by analysis using multi-frequency bioimpedance analyzer. 35 PD patients(>6months duration of CAPD) were prospectively randomized to 17 AAD(Nutrineal, one time use/day) and 18 GD group(keep their glucose based PD solution). After 3 months follow up, AAD group showed marginally increased body weight and fat mass, decreased ECF volume(12.45±0.54Lvs 12.10±0.57L, p=0.06), no changed ICF volume(22.2±0.9Lvs 22.3±0.9L, p>0.05) and marginally increased drainage volume(8.77±0.76Lvs 9.12±0.83L, p=0.09). AAD group also showed favored several markers include nPCR(1.59±0.07vs 1.98±0.08, p=0.00), BUN and albumin level (3.54±0.11 vs 3.74±0.11, p=0.02). Although serum albumin level was increased, correction with ECF volume(albumin level X ECF volume) makes it no difference (43.45±2.13vs 44.80±2.28, p=0.14). Furthermore △albumin vs △ECF showed negative correlation pattern(r=-0.46, p=0.07) that means serum albumin change was influenced by ECF volume change. In conclusion, AAD treatment improved markers of better nutritional status. However the change in serum albumin level was influenced by patient's ECF volume status, which can partially explain contradictory effect of aminoacid based PD solution on serum albumin level
PG-RCNN: Semantic Surface Point Generation for 3D Object Detection
One of the main challenges in LiDAR-based 3D object detection is that the
sensors often fail to capture the complete spatial information about the
objects due to long distance and occlusion. Two-stage detectors with point
cloud completion approaches tackle this problem by adding more points to the
regions of interest (RoIs) with a pre-trained network. However, these methods
generate dense point clouds of objects for all region proposals, assuming that
objects always exist in the RoIs. This leads to the indiscriminate point
generation for incorrect proposals as well. Motivated by this, we propose Point
Generation R-CNN (PG-RCNN), a novel end-to-end detector that generates semantic
surface points of foreground objects for accurate detection. Our method uses a
jointly trained RoI point generation module to process the contextual
information of RoIs and estimate the complete shape and displacement of
foreground objects. For every generated point, PG-RCNN assigns a semantic
feature that indicates the estimated foreground probability. Extensive
experiments show that the point clouds generated by our method provide
geometrically and semantically rich information for refining false positive and
misaligned proposals. PG-RCNN achieves competitive performance on the KITTI
benchmark, with significantly fewer parameters than state-of-the-art models.

Manipulation of Rat Movement via Nigrostriatal Stimulation Controlled by Human Visually Evoked Potentials
Here, we report that the development of a brain-to-brain interface (BBI) system that enables a human user to manipulate rat movement without any previous training. In our model, the remotely-guided rats (known as ratbots) successfully navigated a T-maze via contralateral turning behaviour induced by electrical stimulation of the nigrostriatal (NS) pathway by a brain-computer interface (BCI) based on the human controller's steady-state visually evoked potentials (SSVEPs). The system allowed human participants to manipulate rat movement with an average success rate of 82.2% and at an average rat speed of approximately 1.9 m/min. The ratbots had no directional preference, showing average success rates of 81.1% and 83.3% for the left-and right-turning task, respectively. This is the first study to demonstrate the use of NS stimulation for developing a highly stable ratbot that does not require previous training, and is the first instance of a training-free BBI for rat navigation. The results of this study will facilitate the development of borderless communication between human and untrained animals, which could not only improve the understanding of animals in humans, but also allow untrained animals to more effectively provide humans with information obtained with their superior perception.11Ysciescopu
A Study on the Hot Spot Temperature in 154kV Power Transformers
Abstract -The life of a power transformer is dependent on the life of the cellulose paper, which influenced by the hot spot temperature. Thus, the determination of the cellulose paper's life requires identifying the hot spot temperature of the transformer. Currently, however, the power transformer uses a heat run test is used in the factory test to measure top liquid temperature rise and average winding temperature rise, which is specified in its specification. The hot spot temperature is calculated by the winding resistance detected during the heat run test. This paper measures the hot spot temperature in the single-phase, 154kV, 15/20MVA power transformer by the optical fiber sensors and compares the value with the hot spot temperature calculated by the conventional heat run test in the factory test. To measure the hot spot temperature, ten optical fiber sensors were installed on both the high and low voltage winding; and the temperature distribution during the heat run test, three thermocouples were installed. The hot spot temperature shown in the heat run test was 92.6℃ on the low voltage winding. However, the hot spot temperature as measured by the optical fiber sensor appeared between turn 2 and turn 3 on the upper side of the low voltage winding, recording 105.9℃. The hot spot temperature of the low voltage winding as measured by the optical fiber sensor was 13.3℃ higher than the hot spot temperature calculated by the heat run test. Therefore, the hot spot factor (H) in IEC 60076-2 appeared to be 2.0
First Record of a Snailfish, Careproctus notosaikaiensis (Scorpaeniformes: Liparidae) from Korea
A single specimen (134.3 mm standard length) of a snailfish, Careproctus notosaikaiensis was collected from a fish trap in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, East Sea, Korea. It is characterized by having the teeth strongly trilobed; dorsal fin rays 52; anal fin rays 47; pectoral fin rays 35; caudal fin rays 10; vertebrae 58; ribs 2 pairs; cephalic pores, 2-6-7-2; gill slit extending to the fifth pectoral fin ray; chin pores paired and equal in size; dorsal and anal fins with distinct reddish margins. We describe this species as the first record to Korea, and proposed the new Korean name, “Dong-hae-bun-hong-ggom-chi” for this species
The Effects of Changing from Isoflurane to Desflurane on the Recovery Profile during the Latter Part of Anesthesia
It is not known whether changing from isoflurane to desflurane during the latter part of anesthesia shows early emergence and recovery in long surgery. We therefore evaluated the effects of changing isoflurane to desflurane on emergence and recovery. Eighty-two patients were randomly assigned to receive isoflurane (Group I) or desflurane (Group D) or to change from isoflurane to desflurane anesthesia (Group X). At the point when there was an hour until the operation would end, isoflurane was replaced with 1 MAC of desflurane in Group X, and isoflurane and desflurane were maintained at 1 MAC in Groups I and D. When the operation ended, we compared the emergence and recovery characteristics among the 3 groups. Compared with Group I, Group X showed faster emergence and recovery. Group X and Group D showed similar emergence and recovery. In conclusion, changing isoflurane to desflurane during the latter part of anesthesia improves emergence and recovery
Mind Bomb 1-Expressing Intermediate Progenitors Generate Notch Signaling to Maintain Radial Glial Cells
SummaryNotch signaling is critical for the stemness of radial glial cells (RGCs) during embryonic neurogenesis. Although Notch-signal-receiving events in RGCs have been well characterized, the signal-sending mechanism by the adjacent cells is poorly understood. Here, we report that conditional inactivation of mind bomb-1 (mib1), an essential component for Notch ligand endocytosis, in mice using the nestin and hGFAP promoters resulted in complete loss of Notch activation, which leads to depletion of RGCs, and premature differentiation into intermediate progenitors (IPs) and finally neurons, which were reverted by the introduction of active Notch1. Interestingly, Mib1 expression is restricted in the migrating IPs and newborn neurons, but not in RGCs. Moreover, sorted Mib1+ IPs and neurons can send the Notch signal to neighboring cells. Our results reveal that not only newborn neurons but also IPs are essential Notch-ligand-presenting cells for maintaining RGC stemness during both symmetric and asymmetric divisions
