    Semantic-Aware Local-Global Vision Transformer

    Vision Transformers have achieved remarkable progresses, among which Swin Transformer has demonstrated the tremendous potential of Transformer for vision tasks. It surmounts the key challenge of high computational complexity by performing local self-attention within shifted windows. In this work we propose the Semantic-Aware Local-Global Vision Transformer (SALG), to further investigate two potential improvements towards Swin Transformer. First, unlike Swin Transformer that performs uniform partition to produce equal size of regular windows for local self-attention, our SALG performs semantic segmentation in an unsupervised way to explore the underlying semantic priors in the image. As a result, each segmented region can correspond to a semantically meaningful part in the image, potentially leading to more effective features within each of segmented regions. Second, instead of only performing local self-attention within local windows as Swin Transformer does, the proposed SALG performs both 1) local intra-region self-attention for learning fine-grained features within each region and 2) global inter-region feature propagation for modeling global dependencies among all regions. Consequently, our model is able to obtain the global view when learning features for each token, which is the essential advantage of Transformer. Owing to the explicit modeling of the semantic priors and the proposed local-global modeling mechanism, our SALG is particularly advantageous for small-scale models when the modeling capacity is not sufficient for other models to learn semantics implicitly. Extensive experiments across various vision tasks demonstrates the merit of our model over other vision Transformers, especially in the small-scale modeling scenarios

    Research Progress in Mitochondrial Treatment and Mechanism in Occurrence of Lung Cancer

    Lung cancer is characterized by high incidence and mortality rates and invasiveness, and its occurrence and development are influenced by various factors. Mitochondria, as ubiquitous organelles in the human body, regulate cellular processes, such as metabolism, signal transduction, oxidative stress, and genomic instability, thereby affecting the initiation and progression of lung cancer. This article summarizes the recent research progress on mitochondrial-targeted drugs, mitochondrial transfer, and mitochondrial gene therapy for lung cancer treatment. This work also discusses the principles and prospects of mitochondrial therapy to provide new insights for lung cancer treatment

    Primary sternal tumour resection and reconstruction with LARS mesh-bone cement sandwich by 3D-printing: Case reports

    Background: There are many reconstruction methods after sternal tumor resection, but the method that LARS mesh combines with bone-cement has not been reported.Case report: A 54-year-old female patient and a 55-year-old male patient admitted to our department all presented with sternum masses, but neither presented with respiratory disorders. In women with limited manubrium sternum lesions, we resected the manubrium sternum completely. In men with sternal lesions, we removed part of the sternum and part of the sternocostal joint. The patients recovered well after surgery, and there were no respiratory complications and no tumor recurrence during the 1-year follow-up respectively.Conclusion: We report two cases of sternal defect repair using LARS mesh combined with bone cement. This method is safe and stable, and can achieve satisfactory results

    The Thermal Infrared Visual Object Tracking VOT-TIR2015 challenge results

    The Thermal Infrared Visual Object Tracking challenge 2015, VOT-TIR2015, aims at comparing short-term single-object visual trackers that work on thermal infrared (TIR) sequences and do not apply pre-learned models of object appearance. VOT-TIR2015 is the first benchmark on short-term tracking in TIR sequences. Results of 24 trackers are presented. For each participating tracker, a short description is provided in the appendix. The VOT-TIR2015 challenge is based on the VOT2013 challenge, but introduces the following novelties: (i) the newly collected LTIR (Link - ping TIR) dataset is used, (ii) the VOT2013 attributes are adapted to TIR data, (iii) the evaluation is performed using insights gained during VOT2013 and VOT2014 and is similar to VOT2015

    Thermal stability of gray-scale levels on optical rewritable electronic paper

    In this paper, the thermal stability of the gray-scale levels on the optical rewritable (ORW) electronic paper is checked by heating the 10μm-gap cell with different temperatures at 80°C, 100°C, 120°C, 140°C and 160°C for 3 minutes respectively. It shows that the gray-scale levels on ORW will return to the previous state after the above mentioned cell temperatures cool down to room temperature, which shows a memory effect. The detailed experimental procedure will be stated and discussed

    Perceived HRM and turnover intentions of elderly care workers: perspective from person-job fit and institutional ownership

    Abstract Background Although the phenomenon of high turnover rate in the elderly care industry has existed for a long time, there are few studies that have constructed frameworks to comprehensively analyze the strength of the effects of various factors on the turnover intention of elderly care workers.. This study analyzed the impact of different types of perceived human resource management practices on elderly care workers’ turnover intentions and whether this relationship is moderated by person-job fit and ownership of elderly care institutions. Methods This is a cross-sectional and regional survey study. The study included questionnaire survey data from a total of 305 elderly care workers from 42 elderly care institutions in 21 provinces in China during June to September 2021. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression, and heterogeneity analyses were performed. Results Perceived work environment ( β\beta β =-0.5164, p< 0.01), perceived occupational protection ( β\beta β =-0.3390, p< 0.01), perceived welfare benefits ( β\beta β = -0.2620, p< 0.01) and perceived competency training ( β\beta β = -0.1421, p< 0.1) were all significantly and negatively related to turnover intentions, the quality of perceived work environment has the greatest impact on elderly care workers’ turnover intentions. Under the moderating effects of person-job fit and ownership of elderly care institutions, there existed heterogeneity between perceived human resource management and turnover intentions among elderly care workers. High level of person-job fit and elderly care institutions’ public feature can effectively weaken the negative impact of each type of perceived human resource management on turnover intention among elderly care workers. Conclusions The managers of elderly care institutions should optimize the management mechanism, typically pay attention to elderly care workers’ working environment, formulate and improve the professional standards and job requirements for elderly care workers, promote the public welfare value of nursing care services, and strengthen the sense of honor and responsibility of elderly care workers to reduce the turnover rate

The switchable Fresnel Phase Plate (FPP) containing liquid crystal could be utilized as colour filters to form sub-pixels. Some optical properties of such device were estimated by means of Kirchhoff diffraction equation which is scale wave equation derived from Helmholtz's equation. The performance of LC-FPP and conventional colour filter was compared. Other configuration of LC-FPP was concerned. And some experiments were done to verify the theoretical calculation

    A Network Pharmacology Study Based on the Mechanism of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium-Pinelliae Rhizoma in the Treatment of Gastric Cancer

    Objective. To explore the mechanism of action of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium-Pinelliae Rhizoma (CRP-PR) in treating gastric cancer (GC) by using pharmacology network. Methods. Based on oral bioavailability and drug-likeness, the main active components of CRP-PR were screened using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP). DisGeNET Database was used to establish target databases for GC. Cytoscape software was used to construct a visual interactive network diagram of “Active Component-Target” and screen out the key targets. The STRING database was used to construct a protein interaction network. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis were performed on the key targets. Additionally, TCGA and HPA databases were used for key target verification. Results. Thirty-seven active components of CRP-PR were screened. The results of network analysis showed that the main components include 8-octadecenoic acid, stigmasterol, ferulic acid, and naringenin of the CRP-PR herb pair. The key targets of the PPI network mainly involved GAPDH, MAPK3, JUN, STAT3, GSK3B, SIRT1, ERBB2, and SMAD2. GO enrichment analysis involves 540 biological processes, 118 cellular components, and 171 molecular functions. CRP-PR components were predicted to exert their therapeutic effect on the tumor signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, and estrogen signaling pathway. The validation of the key genes in the TCGA and HPA database showed that most of the key target verification results were consistent with this article. Conclusion. CRP-PR can treat GC by mediating PI3K-Akt signal pathway, MAPK signal pathway, and other biological processes such as tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, and vascular regeneration, which embodies the synergistic effect of multi-components, multi-targets, and multi-channels, and provides the theoretical basis and research ideas for further study of CRP-PR in treating GC. 8-octadecenoic acid, stigmasterol, ferulic acid, and naringenin may be the material basis for the treatment of GC

    Manual Acupuncture Suppresses the Expression of Proinflammatory Proteins Associated with the NLRP3 Inflammasome in the Hippocampus of SAMP8 Mice

    Objective. To investigate the effect of manual acupuncture (MA) on NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins. Methods. SAMP8 mice were randomly divided into Alzheimer’s disease (AD) group, the MA group, and the medicine (M) group. Mice in the M group were treated with donepezil hydrochloride at 0.65 μg/g. In the MA group, MA was applied on Baihui (GV20) and Yintang (GV29) for 20 min and then pricked at Shuigou (GV26). The Morris water maze was applied to assess spatial learning and memory. Immunohistochemical staining and western blot analysis were used to observe the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins. Results. Compared with the normal (N) control group, spatial learning and the memory capabilities of the AD group significantly decreased (p<0.01). The number of NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, and IL-1β positively stained cells in the AD group was higher than the N group, and the relative expression levels of the above proteins were significantly higher than those in the N group (p<0.01). These changes were reversed by both MA and donepezil (p<0.01). Conclusion. MA can improve the learning and memory capabilities of SAMP8 mice. The negative regulation of the NLRP3/Caspase-1 pathway in the hippocampus may be a possible mechanism of MA in the treatment of AD
