China’s Local Government Debt and Economic Growth

This paper explores the impact of China’s local government debt on economic growth. This analysis, based on a panel of 31 provinces over 14 years, takes into account a broad range of economic growth determinants as well as various estimation issues including heteroskedascity and omitted variable. The empirical results suggest an inverse relationship between China’s local government debt and economic growth, controlling for other determinants of growth: on average, a 10 percentage point increase in the debt-to-GDP ratio is associated with a slowdown in annual real per capita GDP growth of around 0.27 percentage points per year

Surjective endomorphisms of projective surfaces -- the existence of infinitely many dense orbits

Let f ⁣:XXf \colon X \to X be a surjective endomorphism of a normal projective surface. When degf2\operatorname{deg} f \geq 2, applying an (iteration of) ff-equivariant minimal model program (EMMP), we determine the geometric structure of XX. Using this, we extend the second author's result to singular surfaces to the extent that either XX has an ff-invariant non-constant rational function, or ff has infinitely many Zariski-dense forward orbits; this result is also extended to Adelic topology (which is finer than Zariski topology)

    Dynamics of generalized tachyon field

We investigate the dynamics of generalized tachyon field in FRW spacetime. We obtain the autonomous dynamical system for the general case. Because the general autonomous dynamical system cannot be solved analytically, we discuss two cases in detail: β=1\beta=1 and β=2\beta=2. We find the critical points and study their stability. At these critical points, we also consider the stability of the generalized tachyon field, which is as important as the stability of critical points. The possible final states of the universe are discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, published versio

Apparent horizon and gravitational thermodynamics of Universe in the Eddington-Born-Infeld theory

The thermodynamics of Universe in the Eddington-Born-Infeld (EBI) theory was restudied by utilizing the holographic-style gravitational equations that dominate the dynamics of the cosmical apparent horizon ΥA\Upsilon_{A} and the evolution of Universe. We started in rewriting the EBI action of the Palatini approach into the Bigravity-type action with an extra metric qμνq_{\mu\nu}. With the help of the holographic-style dynamical equations, we discussed the property of the cosmical apparent horizon ΥA\Upsilon_{A} including timelike, spacelike and null characters, which depends on the value of the parameter of state wmw_{m} in EBI Universe. The unified first law for the gravitational thermodynamics and the total energy differential for the open system enveloped by ΥA\Upsilon_{A} in EBI Universe were obtained. Finally, applying the positive-heat-out sign convention, we derived the generalized second law of gravitational thermodynamics in EBI universe.Comment: 23 pages, 0 figure
