Radical Scavenging Activity of Black Currant (\u3ci\u3eRibes nigrum\u3c/i\u3e L.) Extract and Its Inhibitory Effect on Gastric Cancer Cell Proliferation via Induction of Apoptosis

A black currant extract (BCE) was prepared and its antiproliferative activity against gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells was investigated. Strong 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and 2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) radical scavenging activities and a high reducing power were confirmed with BCE. BCE inhibited the proliferation of SGC-7901 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner, and the IC50 were 12.7, 10.2 and 9.0 mg/mL for 12, 24 and 48 h, respectively. Morphologic observations with inverted and fluorescence microscopes yielded vivid evidence of cell shrinkage, formation of cytoplasmic filaments, condensation of nuclear chromatin, and cell apoptosis in the presence of BCE. Flow cytometric analysis also showed that BCE treatment at concentrations of 10–20 mg/mL resulted in marked reductions of viable cells. The high concentration of phenolic compounds present in the BCE (12.2 mg/mL), including six prominent anthocyanins identified by HPLC–ESI-MS2, appeared to be responsible for BCE’s antiradical activity and anticancer effects. Background: This meta-analysis aimed to provide critically estimated evidence for the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese herbal medicines used for premature ovarian failure (POF), which could provide suggestions for rational treatments. The core objective of this study is to explore the application of BIM technology in the whole process of cost management of construction projects and to assess the project risk. The study covers the key stages of project planning, design, transaction and construction, and focuses on analyzing the cost management process of investment decision, design estimate, transaction and construction. Through questionnaire surveys and expert interviews with 72 valid samples, this study collects data on green building and analyzes the quality of the risk assessment data. Testing risk-taking behavior in Chinese undergraduate students.

The DOSPERT, developed by Weber, Blais and Betz, can be used to measure risk behaviors in a variety of domains. We investigated the use of this scale in China. The participants were 1144 undergraduate students. After we removed some items that were not homogeneous, a principal component analysis extracted six components that accounted for 44.48% of the variance, a value similar to that obtained in the analysis conducted by Weber et al. Chinese undergraduates scored higher on the investment subscale compared with the results of Weber's study. The analysis of individual differences indicated that there was a significant gender difference in the ethical, investment and health/safety subscales, where males scored significantly higher than females. The type of home location was also significant on the ethical and health/safety subscales, where undergraduates from the countryside scored lower than undergraduates from cities and towns on the ethical subscale, and undergraduates from towns scored higher than those from other two areas on the health/safety subscale. Effect of Potato Dietary Fiber on the Quality, Microstructure, and Thermal Stability of Chicken Patty

A total of 150 chicken patties containing different concentrations of potato dietary fiber (PDF) (0.0–4.0%) (30 for every treatment) with three replicates were used to access the influence of PDF on their quality, microstructure, and thermal stability. PDF improved the quality of chicken patty, including significantly inhibiting dimensional change and improving water- and fat-binding properties and textural properties (p p > 0.05). The samples with PDF (<3.0%) did not have a significant negative effect on sensory properties of chicken patty; meanwhile, there were more abundant nutrients and a lower energy value in samples with PDF compared with the control. Therefore, PDF could be a promising ingredient to improve the properties of chicken patties, which was related to the amount of PDF added and performed best at 3.0% level
