Simultaneous amplification and non-symmetric amplitude damping of two-mode Gaussian state

    Get PDF
The evolution of two-mode Gaussian state under symmetric amplification, non-symmetric damping and thermal noise is studied. The time dependent solution of the state characteristic function is obtained. The separability criterions are given for the final state of weak amplification as well as strong amplification.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figure

    Potassium zinc borate, KZnB3O6

    Get PDF
The title compound, KZnB3O6 contains a remarkable [B6O12]6− group ( symmetry) formed by two rings linked by edge-sharing BO4 tetrahedra, a feature that has only been observed previously under high pressure conditions. These borate groups are connected through distorted ZnO4 tetrahedra in edge-shared pairs ( symmetry), forming a three-dimensional network whose cavities are filled by K+ cations

5 GHz TMRT observations of 71 pulsars

We present integrated pulse profiles at 5~GHz for 71 pulsars, including eight millisecond pulsars (MSPs), obtained using the Shanghai Tian Ma Radio Telescope (TMRT). Mean flux densities and pulse widths are measured. For 19 normal pulsars and one MSP, these are the first detections at 5~GHz and for a further 19, including five MPSs, the profiles have a better signal-to-noise ratio than previous observations. Mean flux density spectra between 400~MHz and 9~GHz are presented for 27 pulsars and correlations of power-law spectral index are found with characteristic age, radio pseudo-luminosity and spin-down luminosity. Mode changing was detected in five pulsars. The separation between the main pulse and interpulse is shown to be frequency independent for six pulsars but a frequency dependence of the relative intensity of the main pulse and interpulse is found. The frequency dependence of component separations is investigated for 20 pulsars and three groups are found: in seven cases the separation between the outmost leading and trailing components decreases with frequency, roughly in agreement with radius-to-frequency mapping; in eleven cases the separation is nearly constant; in the remain two cases the separation between the outmost components increases with frequency. We obtain the correlations of pulse widths with pulsar period and estimate the core widths of 23 multi-component profiles and conal widths of 17 multi-component profiles at 5.0~GHz using Gaussian fitting and discuss the width-period relationship at 5~GHz compared with the results at at 1.0~GHz and 8.6~GHz.Comment: 46 pages, 14 figures, 8 Tables, accepted by Ap

Technical note: Institutional solution of clinical cine MRI for tumor motion evaluation in radiotherapy

PURPOSE: Since 4D-MRI is inadequate to capture dynamic respiratory variations, real-time cinematographic (cine) MRI is actively used in MR-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) for tumor motion evaluation, delineation, and tracking. However, most radiotherapy imaging platforms do not support the format of cine MRI from clinical MRI systems. This study developed an institutional solution of clinical cine MRI for tumor motion evaluation in radiotherapy applications. METHODS: Cine MRI manipulation software (called Cine Viewer) was developed within a commercial Treatment Planning System (TPS). It consists of (1) single/orthogonal viewers, (2) display controllers, (3) measurement grids/markers, and (4) manual contouring tools. RESULTS: The institutional solution of clinical cine MRI incorporated with radiotherapy application was assessed through case presentations (liver cancer). Cine Viewer loaded cine MRIs from 1.5T Philips Ingenia MRI, handling MRI DICOM format. The measurement grids and markers were used to quantify the displacement of anatomical structures in addition to the tumor. The contouring tool was utilized to localize the tumor and surrogates on the designated frame. The stacks of the contours were exhibited to present the ranges of tumor and surrogate motions. For example, the stacks of the tumor contours from case-1 were used to determine the ranges of tumor motions (∼8.17 mm on the x-direction [AP-direction] and ∼14 mm on the y-direction [SI-direction]). In addition, the patterns of the displacement of the contours over frames were analyzed and reported using in-house software. In the case-1 review, the tumor was displaced from +146.0 mm on the x-direction and +125.0 mm on the y-direction from the ROI of the abdominal surface. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated the institutional solution of clinical cine MRI in radiotherapy. The proposed tools can streamline the utilization of cine MRI for tumor motion evaluation using Eclipse for treatment planning

Testing and Data Reduction of the Chinese Small Telescope Array (CSTAR) for Dome A, Antarctica

The Chinese Small Telescope ARray (hereinafter CSTAR) is the first Chinese astronomical instrument on the Antarctic ice cap. The low temperature and low pressure testing of the data acquisition system was carried out in a laboratory refrigerator and on the 4500m Pamirs high plateau, respectively. The results from the final four nights of test observations demonstrated that CSTAR was ready for operation at Dome A, Antarctica. In this paper we present a description of CSTAR and the performance derived from the test observations.Comment: Accepted Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (RAA) 1 Latex file and 20 figure

Electroacupuncture Treatment Normalized Sleep Disturbance in Morphine Withdrawal Rats

Sleep disturbance is considered as an important symptom of acute and protracted opiate withdrawal. Current results suggest that sleep disturbance may be taken as a predictor of relapse. Appropriate sleep enhancement therapy will be in favor of the retention in treatment for opiate addicts. Our previous studies have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) is effective in suppressing morphine withdrawal syndrome. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of 2 and 100 Hz EA on the sleep disturbance during morphine withdrawal. Rats were made dependent on morphine by repeated morphine injections (escalating doses of 5–80 mg kg−1, subcutaneously, twice a day) for 5 days. EA of 2 or 100 Hz was given twice a day for 3 days, starting at 48 h after the last morphine injection. Electroencephalogram and electromyogram were monitored at the end of the first and the last EA treatments, respectively. Results showed that non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, REM sleep and total sleep time decreased dramatically, while the sleep latency prolonged significantly during acute morphine withdrawal. Both 2 and 100 Hz EA produced a significant increase in NREM sleep, REM sleep and total sleep time. It was suggested that EA could be a potential treatment for sleep disturbance during morphine withdrawal
