Minimalist's Linux Cluster
Using barebone PC components and NIC's, we construct a linux cluster which
has 2-dimensional mesh structure. This cluster has smaller footprint, is less
expensive, and use less power compared to conventional linux cluster. Here, we
report our experience in building such a machine and discuss our current
lattice project on the machine.Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures, Proceedings of the Lattice 03 Conference

다층적 거버넌스 시각으로 본 유로존 경제위기가 EU 기후변화 리더십에 미치는 영향
학위논문 (석사)-- 서울대학교 국제대학원 : 국제학과, 2015. 2. 김태균.Climate change is without question one of the biggest challenges that the world has faced. Yet, solving this collective action problem has made slow progress in international negotiation. In coping with this complex climate change problem, effective leadership often plays a critical role and the European Union has developed into a successful leader in international climate politics despite its seemingly structural deficiency with multi-level governance.
However, since the sovereign debt crisis in the Euro area occurred in late 2009, many are worried if global climate regime would lose the biggest leader. Since the EU remains as the only influential leader in global climate change politics, whether even the EU will step back from the climate leadership position in the face of economic crisis, therefore, became a burning question. Due to its symbolic importance, this study intends to answer the question why and how does the EUs economic crisis affect on EUs climate change leadership? First of all, this paper explains the factors of the EUs successful leadership in climate change politics from an actor-focused perspective, and goes through what has happened in the factors after the Eurozone crisis started. Finally, it made a conclusion on the impact of the Eurozone crisis on the EUs climate leadership by taking all the changes of the successful factors into consideration.
Briefly, this study has found that the Eurozone crisis has diverged EU not only in its economic situation, but also in climate policy making, and that the crisis has both directly and indirectly hampered EUs leadership in international climate politics. However, it is noteworthy that the analysis of this study is only limited to the changes inside Europe after the Eurozone crisis broke out, and thus, additional studies will be needed on other candidate countries for climate leader such as the US and China in order to diagnose EU climate leadership in a right way because EUs leadership position depends not only on the EUs climate change initiatives but also on behaviors of other competitive actors in the regime.Abstract i

PPM1A Controls Diabetic Gene Programming through Directly Dephosphorylating PPAR?? at Ser273
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR gamma) is a master regulator of adipose tissue biology. In obesity, phosphorylation of PPAR gamma at Ser273 (pSer273) by cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) orchestrates diabetic gene reprogramming via dysregulation of specific gene expression. Although many recent studies have focused on the development of non-classical agonist drugs that inhibit the phosphorylation of PPAR gamma at Ser273, the molecular mechanism of PPAR gamma dephosphorylation at Ser273 is not well characterized. Here, we report that protein phosphatase Mg2+/Mn2+-dependent 1A (PPM1A) is a novel PPAR gamma phosphatase that directly dephosphorylates Ser273 and restores diabetic gene expression which is dysregulated by pSer273. The expression of PPM1A significantly decreases in two models of insulin resistance: diet-induced obese (DIO) mice and db/db mice, in which it negatively correlates with pSer273. Transcriptomic analysis using microarray and genotype-tissue expression (GTEx) data in humans shows positive correlations between PPM1A and most of the genes that are dysregulated by pSer273. These findings suggest that PPM1A dephosphorylates PPAR gamma at Ser273 and represents a potential target for the treatment of obesity-linked metabolic disorders
Comparisons of ELISA and Western blot assays for detection of autophagy flux
We analyzed autophagy/mitophagy flux in vitro (C2C12 myotubes) and in vivo (mouse skeletal muscle) following the treatments of autophagy inducers (starvation, rapamycin) and a mitophagy inducer (carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone, CCCP) using two immunodetection methods, ELISA and Western blotting, and compared their working range, accuracy, and reliability. The ELISAs showed a broader working range than that of the LC3 Western blots (Table 1). Table 2 showed that data value distribution was tighter and the average standard error from the ELISA was much smaller than those of the Western blot, directly relating to the accuracy of the assay. Test-retest reliability analysis showed good reliability for three individual ELISAs (interclass correlation, ≥ 0.7), but poor reliability for three individual Western blots (interclass correlation, ≤ 0.4) (Table 3). Investigating key attributes in experience and satisfaction of hotel customer using online review data
© 2019 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. With the development of social media, customers are sharing their experiences, and it is rapidly spreading as a form of online review. That is why the online review has become a significant information source affecting customers\u27 purchase intention and behavior. Therefore, it is important to understand the customer\u27s experience shown in the online review in order to maintain sustainable customer satisfaction and loyalty. The purpose of this study is to investigate what are the key attributes and the structural relationship of those key attributes. To accomplish this purpose, a total of 6596 hotel reviews were collected from Google (google.com). A frequency analysis using text mining was performed to figure out the most frequently mentioned attributes. In addition, semantic network analysis, factor analysis, and regression analysis were applied to understand the experience and satisfaction of the hotel customer. As a result, the top 99 keywords were divided into four groups such as Intangible Service , Physical Environment , Purpose , and Location . The factor analysis reduced the dimension of the original 64 keywords to 22 keywords, and grouped them into five factors, which are Access , F&B (Food and Beverage) , Purpose , Tangibles , and Empathy . Based on these results, theoretical and practical implications for sustainable hotel marketing strategies are suggested
Learning Vehicle Dynamics from Cropped Image Patches for Robot Navigation in Unpaved Outdoor Terrains
In the realm of autonomous mobile robots, safe navigation through unpaved
outdoor environments remains a challenging task. Due to the high-dimensional
nature of sensor data, extracting relevant information becomes a complex
problem, which hinders adequate perception and path planning. Previous works
have shown promising performances in extracting global features from full-sized
images. However, they often face challenges in capturing essential local
information. In this paper, we propose Crop-LSTM, which iteratively takes
cropped image patches around the current robot's position and predicts the
future position, orientation, and bumpiness. Our method performs local feature
extraction by paying attention to corresponding image patches along the
predicted robot trajectory in the 2D image plane. This enables more accurate
predictions of the robot's future trajectory. With our wheeled mobile robot
platform Raicart, we demonstrated the effectiveness of Crop-LSTM for point-goal
navigation in an unpaved outdoor environment. Our method enabled safe and
robust navigation using RGBD images in challenging unpaved outdoor terrains.

Inelastic scattering in a monolayer graphene sheet; a weak-localization study
Charge carriers in a graphene sheet, a single layer of graphite, exhibit much
distinctive characteristics to those in other two-dimensional electronic
systems because of their chiral nature. In this report, we focus on the
observation of weak localization in a graphene sheet exfoliated from a piece of
natural graphite and nano-patterned into a Hall-bar geometry. Much stronger
chiral-symmetry-breaking elastic intervalley scattering in our graphene sheet
restores the conventional weak localization. The resulting carrier-density and
temperature dependence of the phase coherence length reveal that the
electron-electron interaction including a direct Coulomb interaction is the
main inelastic scattering factor while electron-hole puddles enhance the
inelastic scattering near the Dirac point.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PR
