Sketch-based Video Object Localization
We introduce Sketch-based Video Object Localization (SVOL), a new task aimed
at localizing spatio-temporal object boxes in video queried by the input
sketch. We first outline the challenges in the SVOL task and build the
Sketch-Video Attention Network (SVANet) with the following design principles:
(i) to consider temporal information of video and bridge the domain gap between
sketch and video; (ii) to accurately identify and localize multiple objects
simultaneously; (iii) to handle various styles of sketches; (iv) to be
classification-free. In particular, SVANet is equipped with a Cross-modal
Transformer that models the interaction between learnable object tokens, query
sketch, and video through attention operations, and learns upon a per-frame set
matching strategy that enables frame-wise prediction while utilizing global
video context. We evaluate SVANet on a newly curated SVOL dataset. By design,
SVANet successfully learns the mapping between the query sketches and video
objects, achieving state-of-the-art results on the SVOL benchmark. We further
confirm the effectiveness of SVANet via extensive ablation studies and
visualizations. Lastly, we demonstrate its transfer capability on unseen
datasets and novel categories, suggesting its high scalability in real-world
application
Associations of Anti-Aquaporin 5 Autoantibodies with Serologic and Histopathological Features of Sjogren's Syndrome
Biomarkers to stratify the complex and heterogeneous phenotypes of Sjogren's syndrome (SS) are needed. We aimed to validate the prevalence of anti-aquaporin 5 (AQP5) IgG in a non-Korean cohort and to optimize the method to screen the anti-AQP5 IgG. The study cohort included 111 primary SS and 43 non-SS Sjogren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) controls that were obtained from the Sjogren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance registry, in addition to 35 systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and 35 rheumatoid arthritis (RA) phenotypes. Anti-AQP5 IgG was screened by cell-based immunofluorescence cytochemistry (CB-IFC) assay in the absence or presence of epitope peptides, as well as by ELISA using the epitope peptides as coated antigens. Anti-AQP5 IgG specific to an E1 epitope was best at discriminating between SS and non-SS, and the two different methods (CB-IFC and ELISA) presented comparable performance in diagnostic accuracy (0.690 vs. 0.707). Notably, the SLE and RA groups had substantially lower levels of anti-AQP5 IgG than the SS group. In addition, the presence of anti-AQP5_E1 IgG was associated with serologic and histopathological features of SS. In conclusion, a similar prevalence of anti-AQP5 IgG was confirmed in a non-Korean cohort. Screening anti-AQP5 autoantibodies may help to form subgroups of SS for targeted therapy.Y

Comparison of treatment outcomes for native tissue repair and sacrocolpopexy as apical suspension procedures at the time of hysterectomy for uterine prolapse
Abstract Concomitant apical suspension should be performed at the time of hysterectomy for uterine prolapse to reduce the risk of recurrent prolapse. Native tissue repair (NTR) and sacrocolpopexy (SCP) are commonly used apical suspension procedures; however, it remains unclear which one is preferred. This study aimed to compare the treatment outcomes of NTR and SCP in terms of surgical failure, complication and reoperation rates. Surgical failure was defined as the presence of vaginal bulge symptoms, any prolapse beyond the hymen, or retreatment for prolapse. This retrospective cohort study included 523 patients who had undergone NTR (n = 272) or SCP (n = 251) along with hysterectomy for uterine prolapse and who had at least 4-month follow-up visits. During the median 3-year follow-up period, the surgical failure rate was higher in the NTR group (21.3% vs 6.4%, P < 0.01), with a low rate of retreatment in both groups. Overall complication rates were similar, but complications requiring surgical correction under anesthesia were more common in the SCP group (7.2% vs 0.4%, P < 0.01). As a result, the total reoperation rate was significantly higher in the SCP group (8.0% vs 2.6%, P = 0.02). Taken together, NTR may be a preferred option for apical suspension when hysterectomy is performed for uterine prolapse
Hydrogel Nanoparticle as a Functional Coating Layer in Biosensing, Tissue Engineering, and Drug Delivery
The development of functional coating materials has resulted in many breakthroughs in the discovery of energy, environmental, and biomedical applications. Responsive polymeric hydrogels are an example of smart coating materials due to their stimuli-responsive characteristics upon changes in their local environment. This review focuses on the introduction of hydrogel nanoparticles and their applications in functional layers as responsive coating materials. Hydrogels are explained by the composition of cross-links and monomers used for preparation. In particular, an important class of responsive hydrogels, that is, nanosized hydrogel particles (nanogels), are described for thee synthesis, modification, and application in assembly of functional coating layers. Finally, nanogel functional layers for biological applications will be discussed with recent advances in biosensing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery

Factors associated with unsuccessful pessary fitting and reasons for discontinuation in Korean women with pelvic organ prolapse

All Rights Reserved.Objective To identify the factors associated with unsuccessful pessary fitting and reasons for pessary discontinuation in Korean women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Methods The medical records of 234 patients who underwent pessary fitting for the management of symptomatic POP were retrospectively reviewed. A ring pessary with or without support was used. Successful pessary fitting was defined as the ability to wear a pessary for 2 weeks without any discomfort. Factors associated with unsuccessful pessary fitting were determined using a multivariable logistic regression analysis. A Kaplan-Meier survival curve was obtained to examine the probability of continuing pessary use over the follow-up period. The reasons for the discontinuation of pessary were identified. Results Two-hundred-and-twenty-five women were included in the analysis. The rate of unsuccessful pessary fitting was 40%. Prior hysterectomy (odds ratio [OR], 4.13; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.81-9.42) and POP quantification stage III-IV (OR, 2.49; 95% CI, 1.28-4.85) were independent risk factors for unsuccessful pessary fitting. Among the patients with successful pessary fitting, the median time to discontinuation of pessary use was 4 years. The most common causes of discontinued use were vaginal erosion (45.3%) and urinary incontinence (26.5%). Conclusion Patients with a history of hysterectomy and advanced-stage POP are at risk for an unsuccessful fitting of the ring pessary. Vaginal erosion is the main reason for discontinued use among patients with successful pessary fitting.N
Hyper-FET’s Phase-Transition-Materials Design Guidelines for Ultra-Low Power Applications at 3 nm Technology Node
In this work, a hybrid-phase transition field-effects-transistor (hyper-FET) integrated with phase-transition materials (PTM) and a multi-nanosheet FET (mNS-FET) at the 3 nm technology node were analyzed at the device and circuit level. Through this, a benchmark was performed for presenting device design guidelines and for using ultra-low-power applications. We present an optimization flow considering hyper-FET characteristics at the device and circuit level, and analyze hyper-FET performance according to the phase transition time (TT) and baseline-FET off-leakage current (IOFF) variations of the PTM. As a result of inverter ring oscillator (INV RO) circuit analysis, the optimized hyper-FET increases speed by +8.74% and reduces power consumption by −16.55%, with IOFF = 5 nA of baseline-FET and PTM TT = 50 ps compared to the conventional mNS-FET in the ultra-low-power region. As a result of SRAM circuit analysis, the read static noise margin is improved by 43.9%, and static power is reduced by 58.6% in the near-threshold voltage region when the PTM is connected to the pull-down transistor source terminal of 6T SRAM for high density. This is achieved at 41% read current penalty
