In this study, the grain boundary character distribution (GBCDs) of the annealed YIG samples, obtained from a Sol-Gel method, are presented. The YIG samples were annealed at 1400 o C for various annealing time in air and furnace-cooled. From the 2d EBSD measurements, we observed that a series of YIG samples attained the self-similarity during the annealing process in terms of the grain size distribution, the grain texture, and the grain boundary misorientation texture, and grain boundary plane/character distributions. Lastly, relationships between the ionic structures of typical planes in YIG and the resultant grain boundary population in poly crystals will be discussed
