Information Warehousing Vs Learning Organization: The More Dynamic Information Professional

    Get PDF
In the context of information age the only thing which gives organization a competitive edge is information. Success of an organization is heavily depending upon the ability to process the business information generated both internally and externally to the organization. Information warehousing is perceived as an efficient information management tool. The role of information professionals, who understand the value of information in an organizational set up is continuously evolving. In this paper an attempt has been made to highlight the role of an information professional in the development of an information warehouse in learning organizationDocumentation Research and Training Centre

LARVICIDAL ACTIVITY OF ESSENTIAL OIL OF GLIRICIDIA SEPIUM LEAF

    Get PDF
Objective: This study focus at the larvicidal activity of essential oil of Gliricidia sepium leaf Methods: Pharmacological evaluation of leaf was carried out for larvicidal activity. Household mosquitoes of fourth instar larvae were used for the study. The study was carried out for 5 different concentrations for aqueous extract. Results: The aqueous extract shown dose-dependent activity with the maximum larvicidal potential was seen with leaf of essential oil (250 mg/ml). Conclusion: The study is designed to evaluate the larvicidal activity of essential oil of leaf of G. sepium. The relationship between the chemical composition and biological activity of essential oil of G. sepium is confirmed by lethal effect

The equilibrium  concentration have been performed calculated spectrophoto metrically by using ultra violet-visible technique. The thermodynamic   parameters  ( )     have  been measured  the adsorption is endothermic

'DISPLACEMENT' AND ITS AFTERMATH IN DIASPORA: A STUDY ON MIRA NAIR'S FILMS MISSISSIPPI MASALA AND THE NAMESAKE

    Get PDF
Diaspora, one of the major disciplines in post-colonial studies, extensively deals with migration, displacement and its consequences. The idea of displacement tells that it may occur in two ways voluntary and involuntary. While involuntary (forced) displacement happens due to the natural calamities, political, social, religious turmoil and what not, voluntary displacement, more over psychologically, takes place due to mainly aspiration for better life, globalization and its offshoots. Though the displacement helped to have developments in all fields to the diasporic people as well as the people in homeland, it creates immeasurable problems physically and psychologically such as assaults from host community, identity crises, cross-cultural conflict, alienation, home and host issues, trauma of uprooting and re-rooting, gender problems etc. in diasporic people. The study tries to find out the major issues in the hostland after displacement and how do diasporic people respond to it. Taking examples for voluntary and involuntary displacement from Indian Diasporic director Mira Nair’s movies The namesake (2006) and Mississippi Masala (1991), the study aims to understand the consequences of displacement and psychological issues of the diaspora. Some of the theoretical concepts like identity, home, alienation will be applying to analyse their lives in hostland and bring broad understanding of the migrants

In-silico Predictive Mutagenicity Model Generation Using Supervised Learning Approaches

    Get PDF
With the advent of High Throughput Screening techniques, it is feasible to filter possible leads from a mammoth chemical space that can act against a particular target and inhibit its action. Virtual screening complements the in-vitro assays which are costly and time consuming. This process is used to sort biologically active molecules by utilizing the structural and chemical information of the compounds and the target proteins in order to screen potential hits. Various data mining and machine learning tools utilize Molecular Descriptors through the knowledge discovery process using classifier algorithms that classify the potentially active hits for the drug development process.

Web databases: A better Solution for Organising the Internet Resources

    Get PDF
The web databases have become very popular in the Internet world for organizing the Information resources. Library and Information centers can effectively utilize this web technology for improving as well as delivering new services. This paper discusses the tools and the techniques of the 'Database - Web' connectivity in brief and also provides the examples of Perl - MySql and ASP - MS-Access connectivity

Reactivity Ratios of the Copolymerization Styrene/ Methyl Methacrylate Using FT-IR Spectroscopy with Comparing to Mathematically Method

    Get PDF
Free Radical Copolymerization of Styrene/ Methyl Methacrylate were prepared chemically under Nitrogen ,which was investigated, in the present of Benzoyl Peroxide as Initiator at concentration of 2 × 10-3 molar at 70 °C, which was carried out in Benzene as solvent to a certain low conversion . FT-IR spectra were used for determining of the monomer reactivity ratios ,which was obtained by employing the conventional linearization method of Fineman-Ross (F-R) and Kelen-Tüdos (K- T). The experimental results showed the average value for the Styrene r1 / Methyl Methacrylate r2 system, Sty r1 = 0.45 , MMA r2 = 0.38 in the (F–R) Method and r1 = 0.49 , r2 = 0.35 in the (K–T) Method, The Results of this indicated show the random distribution of monomers in the copolymer.Likewise The monomer reactivity ratios were evaluated Mathematically in comparison in the (F–R) Method with the data STY r1 = 0.61 , MMA r2 = 0.47 , and r1 = 0.45 , r2 =0.38 in the (K–T) Method. And were used the values r1 ,r2 for STY / MMA Copolymers in computing integral curves for the instantaneous Copolymer composition throughout the whole range of conversion

PREDICTORS OF SCHOOL CHOICE: THE CASE OF PARENTS IN CAPE COAST, GHANA

    Get PDF
We identified the pertinent factors affecting parents’ choice of a particular senior high school (SHS) in Ghana, focusing on parents with at least one child in a SHS in Ghana and are residents of Cape Coast. The approach and design used were quantitative and descriptive survey design respectively. A sample of 637 of the parents, made up of 349 women and 288 men, was used. The parents were selected using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. A questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient ranging from 0.735 – 0.829, was the instrument used to collect the data. Out of the 637 parents sampled, we were able to retrieve 588 completed questionnaires, representing 92.3 percent response rate. The data were analysed using cross tabulation and linear multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that parents preferred public boarding SHS which is single-sex education. Also, parents preferred schools with excellent academic record, quality instruction, and positive school values. Similarly, family/parental related factors such as family moral and religious values, and parents’ income and education levels, and also social related factors such as school popularity and brand, peer influence, and social network predict significantly and positively parents’ choice of a particular SHS. We conclude that school, family and social related factors are able to influence parents’ school choice. It is recommended to heads of SHSs to be attentive to the various institutional factors and create schools that address the needs of the parents in their communities in order to attract and retain students.   Article visualizations
