Spheroidal and elliptical galaxy radial velocity dispersion determined from Cosmological General Relativity
Radial velocity dispersion in spheroidal and elliptical galaxies, as a
function of radial distance from the center of the galaxy, has been derived
from Cosmological Special Relativity. For velocity dispersions in the outer
regions of spherical galaxies, the dynamical mass calculated for a galaxy using
Carmelian theory may be 10 to 100 times less than that calculated from standard
Newtonian physics. This means there is no need to include halo dark matter. The
velocity dispersion is found to be approximately constant across the galaxy
after falling from an initial high value at the center.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

Ultraviolet Complete Electroweak Model Without a Higgs Particle
An electroweak model with running coupling constants described by an energy
dependent entire function is utraviolet complete and avoids unitarity
violations for energies above 1 TeV. The action contains no physical scalar
fields and no Higgs particle and the physical electroweak model fields are
local and satisfy microcausality. The and masses are compatible with a
symmetry breaking , which
retains a massless photon. The vertex couplings possess an energy scale
TeV predicting scattering amplitudes that can be tested at the
LHC.Comment: 19 pages, no figures, LaTex file. Equation and text corrected.

Optimized Variables of the Study of Polarization
The value of the -baryon polarization can be extracted from inclusive data
at LEP with better than 10\% precision based on current statistics. We present
a new variable by which to measure the polarization, which is the ratio of the
average electron energy to the average neutrino energy. This variable is both
sensitive to polarization and insensitive to fragmentation uncertainties.Comment: 10 pages (LaTeX), 2 figures, MIT-CTP-2270, CERN-PPE/94-0

Initial-State Interactions in the Unpolarized Drell-Yan Process
We show that initial-state interactions contribute to the
distribution in unpolarized Drell-Yan lepton pair production and , without suppression. The asymmetry is expressed as a
product of chiral-odd distributions , where the quark-transversity function
is the transverse momentum dependent, light-cone
momentum distribution of transversely polarized quarks in an {\it unpolarized}
proton. We compute this (naive) -odd and chiral-odd distribution function
and the resulting asymmetry explicitly in a quark-scalar diquark
model for the proton with initial-state gluon interaction. In this model the
function equals the -odd (chiral-even) Sivers
effect function . This suggests that the
single-spin asymmetries in the SIDIS and the Drell-Yan process are closely
related to the asymmetry of the unpolarized Drell-Yan process,
since all can arise from the same underlying mechanism. This provides new
insight regarding the role of quark and gluon orbital angular momentum as well
as that of initial- and final-state gluon exchange interactions in hard QCD
processes.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figure
When Will Adolescents Tell Someone About Dating Violence Victimization?
This study examined factors that influence help-seeking among a diverse sample of
adolescents who experienced dating violence. A sample of 57 high school students in
an urban community reported on the prevalence and characteristics of dating violence
in their relationships. Someone observing a dating violence incident and a survivor’s
attaching an emotional meaning to the event significantly influenced adolescents to talk
to someone. When dating violence occurred in isolation, survivors were more likely to
receive no support from others in the aftermath of the incident. Differences between
boys’ and girls’ help-seeking and implications for dating violence intervention and prevention
programming are discussed.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/90887/1/Black-Tolman-Callahan-Saunders- Weisz- 2008-When will adolescents tell someone about dating violence VAW.pd
Dilepton Spectra from Decays of Light Unflavored Mesons
The invariant mass spectrum of the and pairs
from decays of light unflavored mesons with masses below the -meson mass to final states containing along with a dilepton pair one
photon, one meson, and two mesons are calculated within the framework of the
effective meson theory. The results can be used for simulations of the dilepton
spectra in heavy-ion collisions and for experimental searches of dilepton meson
decays.Comment: 73 pages, 19 figures, 3 tables, REVTeX, new references adde
Deep Inelastic Scattering from off-Shell Nucleons
We derive the general structure of the hadronic tensor required to describe
deep-inelastic scattering from an off-shell nucleon within a covariant
formalism. Of the large number of possible off-shell structure functions we
find that only three contribute in the Bjorken limit. In our approach the usual
ambiguities encountered when discussing problems related to off-shellness in
deep-inelastic scattering are not present. The formulation therefore provides a
clear framework within which one can discuss the various approximations and
assumptions which have been used in earlier work. As examples, we investigate
scattering from the deuteron, nuclear matter and dressed nucleons. The results
of the full calculation are compared with those where various aspects of the
off-shell structure are neglected, as well as with those of the convolution
model.Comment: 36 pages RevTeX, 9 figures (available upon request), ADP-93-210/T128,

Quark Imaging in the Proton Via Quantum Phase-Space Distributions
We develop the concept of quantum phase-space (Wigner) distributions for
quarks and gluons in the proton. To appreciate their physical content, we
analyze the contraints from special relativity on the interpretation of elastic
form factors, and examine the physics of the Feynman parton distributions in
the proton's rest frame. We relate the quark Wigner functions to the
transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions and generalized parton
distributions, emphasizing the physical role of the skewness parameter. We show
that the Wigner functions allow to visualize quantum quarks and gluons using
the language of the classical phase space. We present two examples of the quark
Wigner distributions and point out some model-independent features.Comment: 20 pages with 3 fiture
