Technique for measuring absorptance and emittance by using cyclic incident radiation
Cyclic radiation technique has been developed for determining absorptance and emittance of metal surfaces. Using this technique both absorptance and emittance can be determined from one set of data, and variable and controlled temperature levels are possible
The Problem with the Linpack Benchmark Matrix Generator
We characterize the matrix sizes for which the Linpack Benchmark matrix
generator constructs a matrix with identical columns
WZW-Toda Reduction using the Casimir Operator
We construct a quantum Hamiltonian operator for the Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW)
model in terms of the Casimir operator. This facilitates the discussion of the
reduction of the WZW model to Toda field theory at the quantum level and
provides a very straightforward derivation of the quantum central charge for
the Toda field theory.Comment: 16pp, uses harvmac, LTH 304 (Revised version with improved discussion

CSCP: A new Get Away Special (GAS) project
The Get Away Special (GAS) program has instituted a new project called Complex Self Contained Payloads (CSCP) designed to support GAS type payloads that are beyond the scope of the GAS program. These payloads may be supported by GAS personnel and hardware and will fly as primary or secondary shuttle payloads. The definition, requirements and basic support package for CSCP's are discussed
Aerial thermography for energy conservation
Thermal infrared scanning from an aircraft is a convenient and commercially available means for determining relative rates of energy loss from building roofs. The need to conserve energy as fuel costs makes the mass survey capability of aerial thermography an attractive adjunct to community energy awareness programs. Background information on principles of aerial thermography is presented. Thermal infrared scanning systems, flight and environmental requirements for data acquisition, preparation of thermographs for display, major users and suppliers of thermography, and suggested specifications for obtaining aerial scanning services were reviewed
Ground-water resources of the lower Hillsboro Canal area, Southeastern Florida
This study was done to determine the amount and kinds of water being
produced from the lower Hillsboro Canal Area in Palm Beach and
Broward counties.
All of the potable ground water being produced from the
Biscayne aquifer is developed from the canal through infiltration.
Rainfall in the area is the ultimate source for all of the water.
Careful control and management will allow the development of
large quantities of water from the canal toward Lake Okeechobee, but
a fresh water head must be maintained along the contact of fresh water
with sea water to prevent salt water intrusion. (PDF contains 51 pages.
