    The Mediation Effect of Trusting Beliefs on the Relationship Between Expectation-Confirmation and Satisfaction with the Usage of Online Product Recommendation

    Online Product Recommendations (OPRs) are increasingly available to onlinecustomers as a value-added self-service in evaluating and choosing a product.Research has highlighted several advantages that customers can gain from usingOPRs. However, the realization of these advantages depends on whether and towhat extent customers embrace and fully utilise them. The relatively low OPR USAgerate indicates that customers have not yet developed trust in OPRs’ performance.Past studies also have established that satisfaction is a valid measure of systemperformance and a consistent significant determinant of users’ continuous systemusage. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the mediation effect of trustingbeliefs on the relationship between expectation-confirmation and satisfaction. Theproposed research model is tested using data collected via an online survey from626 existing users of OPRs. The empirical results revealed that social-psychologicalbeliefs (perceived confirmation and trust) are significant contributors to customersatisfaction with OPRs. Additionally, trusting beliefs partially mediate the impactof perceived confirmation on customer satisfaction. Moreover, this study validatesthe extensions of the interpersonal trust construct to trust in OPRs and examinesthe nomological validity of trust in terms of competence, benevolence, andintegrity. The findings provide a number of theoretical and practical implications.&nbsp

    Prediction of the flow inside a micro gas turbine combustor

    The main purpose of this study is to predict the flow dynamics inside a micro gas turbine combustor model. The flow field inside the combustor is controlled by the liner shape and size, wall side holes shape, size and arrangement (primary, secondary and dilution holes), and primary air swirler configuration. Air swirler adds sufficient swirling to the inlet flow to generate central recirculation region (CRZ) which is necessary for flame stability and fuel air mixing enhancement. Therefore designing an appropriate air swirler is a challenge to produce stable, efficient and low emission combustion with low pressure losses. Four axial flat vane swirlers with 20 °, 30 °, 45 ° and 60 ° vane angle corresponding to swirl number of 0.27, 0.42, 0.74, and 1.285 respectively were used in this analysis to show vane angle effect on the internal flow field. The flow behavior was investigated numerically using CFD solver FLUENT 6.2. This study has provided physical insight into the flow pattern inside the combustion chamber. Results show that the swirling action is augmented with the increase in the vane angle, which leads to increase in the turbulence strength, recirculation zone size, and amount of recirculated mass. However, all these happen at the expense of the increase in pressure losses. In case of 20 ° swirler (swirl number < 0.4), the produced swirling flow is not enough to generate CRZ

    MEASURING THE PERFORMANCE OF TWO-STAGE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS WITH SHARED INPUTS BY DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS

    As a non-parametric technique in Operations Research and Economics, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) evaluates the relative efficiency of peer production systems or decision making units (DMUs) that have multiple inputs and outputs. In recent years, a great number of DEA studies have focused on two-stage production systems in series, where all outputs from the first stage are intermediate products that make up the inputs to the second stage. There are, of course, other types of two-stage processes that the inputs of the system can be freely allocated among two stages. For this type of two-stage production system, the conventional two-stage DEA models have some limitations e.g. efficiency formulation and linearizing transformation. In this paper, we introduce a relational DEA model, considering series relationship among two stages, to measure the overall efficiency of two-stage production systems with shared inputs. The linearity of DEA models is preserved in our model. The proposed DEA model not only evaluates the efficiency of the whole process, but also it provides the efficiency for each of the two sub-processes.     Single magnetic molecule between conducting leads: Effect of mechanical rotations

    We study spin-rotation effects in a magnetic molecule bridged between two conducting leads. Dynamics of the total angular momentum couples spin tunneling to the mechanical rotations. Landau-Zener spin transition produced by the time-dependent magnetic field generates a unique pattern of mechanical oscillations that can be detected by measuring the electronic tunneling current through the molecule.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
